The ECB said it would set up a new anti-discrimination unit within sixth months and also vowed to remove "structural and cultural barriers" in their elite talent pathways.

"For cricket truly to `connect communities and improve lives` -- our stated aim at the ECB -- we must start by accepting that not enough has happened to make our game better" ECB chief executive Tom Harrison said.

"That is the only possible reaction to the powerful testimony of Azeem Rafiq and others in recent weeks."

Everyone saw how Pakistan made its case, and the result is they came here. The only thing is we and the ECB must walk together because it's important for every board to understand each other, their frustrations, meet the expectations. I think the ECB also understood they committed a mistake by withdrawing, and it was a knee-jerk reaction," Raja said in the video.

"This tour was important, and it's their gratefulness. Coming over here to sort things out and accepting their fault and promising to play two additional T20Is is good news for our fans because I believe Pakistan should have a home season so spectators come and watch and top teams should tour."

"We are also revisiting New Zealand's tour, and when I go to Dubai, we might announce a schedule. However, England and Australia tours are massive breakthroughs, and I expect our side to perform well. I want us to be a proud nation and our fans, our team, and the board to be respected. Also, if we are firm and honest, we need not fear anybody," he said.

Lastly, he also made some big promises and revealed, "In October, hopefully we will launch something like a PSL for Under-19 level. We are very excited because this has not happened anywhere in the world.&nbsp;England will send their Under-19 players, we will look after them. Women's and U-19 PSL, full home season: Ramiz reveals forward plan as PAK look to revamp as hosts

Yorkshire County Cricket Club (YCCC) have been suspended from hosting international or major matches over their handling of allegations of racism by former player Azeem Rafiq, the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) said on Thursday.

Rafiq, a player of Pakistani descent and a former captain of the England Under-19s, said last year he was made to feel like an outsider at Yorkshire and contemplated taking his own life.

"It is clear ... that YCCC`s handling of the issues raised by Azeem Rafiq is wholly unacceptable and is causing serious damage to the reputation of the game," the ECB said in a statement.

"The ECB find this matter abhorrent and against the spirit of cricket and its values."

Yorkshire batsman Gary Ballance, who said on Wednesday that he had used racist language towards his former teammate&nbsp;Rafiq, has also been indefinitely suspended from England selection.

"Before any regulatory investigation is complete, the Board wishes to take immediate action in relation to Gary Ballance," the ECB said.

"While Mr Ballance has not been selected to play for England since 2017, he will be suspended indefinitely from selection. This position will be reviewed following the ECB regulatory investigation into his conduct."

The ECB said it would hold Yorkshire to account over their handling of the matter and consider sanctions including but not limited to financial and future match allocations at the end of its investigation.

"In the meantime, YCCC are suspended from hosting international or major matches until it has clearly demonstrated that it can meet the standards expected of an international venue, ECB member and First Class County," the ECB said.

Reuters has contacted the club, whose Headingley stadium is used regularly for England`s test and limited overs matches, for comment.

Several sponsors have ended their partnerships with Yorkshire following an independent report into allegations of racism made by Rafiq, with Nike saying on Thursday that it has cancelled a four-year deal that was signed in March.

"Nike will no longer be the kit supplier for Yorkshire CCC. We stand firmly against racism and discrimination of any kind," Nike said in a statement reported by British media.

Emerald Group Publishing, Yorkshire Tea and Tetley Bitter, among others sponsors, have also said they will end their relationships with the club.

Yorkshire said last month that they would not take action nL1N2RO1Q9 against employees, players or executives following the report, which found Rafiq had been a victim of racial harassment and bullying in his first spell at the county from 2008-14.

The 30-year-old Rafiq and senior Yorkshire executives have been called to give evidence before a parliamentary Digital, Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS) panel on Nov. 16.

DCMS Committee Chair Julian Knight said in a statement on Thursday that the punishment meted out by the ECB was overdue.

"The ECB’s action in taking international cricket away from Yorkshire should act as a short, sharp shock to bring the club to its senses.

"Like the rest of us, I imagine the members of Yorkshire County Cricket Club will be questioning why the board is still in place."

Former Yorkshire and England captain Michael Vaughan has revealed that he was named in the YCCC report but "totally denies any allegation of racism".

Vaughan said he was alleged to have told Rafiq and two other Asian players as they walked onto the field together that there were "too many of you lot, we need to do something about it".

He denies making the comment.

"It is clear that Azeem has endured a lot," Vaughan wrote in a column for The Daily Telegraph. "It is not only right but essential that his experiences and his perspective are heard. There are unquestionably lessons to be learned.

"Yorkshire have dealt with this terribly. It is a good cricket club and ... I hope I can be part of the movement to rebrand the club and people will eventually look back on this time and say it changed for the better."

The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) suspended Yorkshire County Cricket Club from hosting any international matches over the club’s lack of response to racism experienced by former player Azeem Rafiq.

It comes after the 30-year-old Pakistan-born Rafiq accused Yorkshire of failing to act after he alleged racism during his time with the English county in September 2018.

Yorkshire offered the Pakistan-born off-spinner “profound and unreserved apologies”, but last week they said that they would not take disciplinary action against any staff.

The lack of response drew a wave of criticism, prompting sponsors, including kit manufacturer Nike, to cut their ties with the club.

In a strongly-worded statement following an emergency board meeting on Thursday, the ECB described Yorkshire's handling of Rafiq affair as ‘abhorrent’ and suspended their hosting rights until they improve their governance.&nbsp;

“It is clear to the Board that YCCC’s handling of the issues raised by Azeem Rafiq is wholly unacceptable and is causing serious damage to the reputation of the game. The ECB find this matter abhorrent and against the spirit of cricket and its values,” the statement said.

“There is no place for racism or any form of discrimination in cricket and where it is found, swift action must be taken. This matter must be dealt with robustly if the sport is to demonstrate its commitment to truly being a game for everyone,” it added.

The move will set a good precedent for all the other county clubs who fail to act against any instants of racism despite being apprised of by the players.

The decision will also encourage other players to come out and openly report any abuses or racial slurs faced by them immediately instead of waiting for years to highlight the issue. It will also help sensitise the local English players on how to behave with the overseas players.

Yorkshire had been notorious for their “institutionalised racism” against Asian and African origin players.

Before Rafiq, it was Indian cricketer Cheteshwar Pujara who in December 2020 revealed that his teammates in Yorkshire used to address him with a generic name “Steve” instead of calling him by his given name.

Ian Watmore, the Chairman of England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB), has stepped down from his role with immediate effect, said an announcement by the ECB on Thursday. Watmore, the first paid chairman of the ECB, had served just 13 months out of his five-year term after taking over from a retiring Colin Graves in 2020. 
 
Watmore had reached a mutual agreement with the Board to stand down following the end of the domestic season and after helping to steer the game through the challenges of Covid over the past year. His departure comes after heavy criticism and lack of clarity on England cancelling the men`s and women`s white-ball tours to Pakistan scheduled for October this year. 
 
"It is with regret that I step down as Chair of the ECB, but I do so in mindfulness of my own wellbeing and that of the game which I love. I was appointed to the post in a pre-pandemic era, but Covid has meant the role and its demands on time are dramatically different to all our original expectations, which has taken a personal toll on me. Given this, the Board and I feel the ECB will be better served by a new Chair to take it forward post pandemic," said Watmore in a release by the ECB.

"The procedure on Jofra's hand will take place on Monday... so he can recover during the planned break following his elbow injection.

They said: "Jofra suffered a cut to his hand while cleaning at his home in January shortly before flying to India to prepare for the Test series.
