SpaceX, under Elon Musk, is in the process of exploring a tender offer that values the private space exploration company at $175 billion or more.

A Bloomberg report, citing sources familiar with the matter, revealed that discussions are underway regarding insider shares, with the tender offer potentially ranging between $500 million to $750 million. The proposed share price is around $95 per share, though terms and the offer's size may evolve based on interest from both sellers and buyers within the company.

This valuation represents a significant premium compared to the $150 billion valuation SpaceX secured through a tender offer earlier this summer.

SpaceX, headquartered in Hawthorne, California, currently stands as the most valuable start-up in the United States, dominating the commercial space launch services market with its highly successful Falcon rockets.

In addition to its achievements in space launches, SpaceX is recognised for its role in sending payloads into orbit for private-sector clients, the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), and various government agencies. The company's diverse portfolio includes the revolutionary Starlink service, providing internet from space. Anchored by a growing constellation of satellites in low-Earth orbit, Starlink has contributed to SpaceX's expanding influence in the broader space industry.

While details of the tender offer remain confidential, the move signifies SpaceX's continued efforts to leverage its market dominance and technological innovations to attract investment. The space exploration company has been at the forefront of industry advancements, and this financial manoeuvre further highlights its commitment to pushing boundaries and securing a prominent position in the evolving landscape of space exploration and satellite-based services.

Over four years after first displaying the futuristic-looking Cybertruck, Elon Musk-led Tesla on Thursday (Nov 30) published the prices for the electric vehicle and began the deliveries. The Cybertruck will be starting at $60,990 for the lowest cost variant which is significantly more than what Musk had advertised in 2019 at around $40,000.

During the keynote, he drove a Cybertruck onto the stage amid cheers from the crowd before handing the keys to about a dozen customers at the event in Austin, Texas.

According to the Tesla website, the Cybertruck's highest variant named Cyberbeast, an all-wheel drive version would be sold for estimated starting prices of about $100,000 and $80,000. These will be available next year.

While the rear-wheel drive Cybertruck has an estimated range of 250 miles and can go from 0 to 60 mph in 6.5 seconds, the all-wheel drive has an estimated 340-mile range, and can go from 0 to 60 in 4.1 seconds. It has a top speed of 112 mph, 600 horsepower, and a towing capacity of 11,000 pounds.

The powerful car has already drawn more than a million reservation holders who have put down $100 as deposits.

Elon Musk has hit out at advertisers who have pulled their advertisements from X (formerly known as Twitter) citing increased antisemitism on the platform. An unusually charged-up Musk told the advertisers to go 'f**k' themselves whilst giving a special mention to Walt Disney CEO Bob Iger. Musk went on a profanity-laden tirade during an interview with Andrew Ross Sorkin at The New York Times Dealbook Summit. “Don’t advertise. If someone is going to try and blackmail me with advertising? Blackmail me with money? Go f**k yourself,” Musk said. “Go f**k yourself, is that clear? Hey Bob, if you’re in the audience. That’s how I feel, don’t advertise.” After the barrage of expletives, Musk explained how advertisers were writing the death sentence of X. "What this advertising boycott is going to do is, it is going to kill the company. And the whole world will know that those advertisers killed the company," he said. Musk was responding after Iger, during one of the earlier sessions, explained his company's decision to pull advertising from the platform. Is that clear?“ pic.twitter.com/p5FRQlBcAj — Yashar Ali 🐘 (@yashar) November 29, 2023 × Why are advertisers suspending ads on X? Notably, Musk came under heavy fire after he endorsed a conspiracy theory that was interpreted as a form of antisemitic behaviour. Musk pointed to the "Great Replacement" theory which states that Jews and leftists are attempting to weaken white majorities with non-white immigrants that will lead to a "white genocide". Soon after his post, the White House released a statement, accusing Musk of "abhorrent promotion" of antisemitism. As the controversy snowballed, the likes of Walt Disney, Warner Bros Discovery and NBCUniversal parent Comcast pulled the plug on ads on X. Watch | Elon Musk faces backlash for endorsing antisemitic conspiracy × To arrest the slide, Musk travelled to Israel and visited the sites where Hamas committed unspeakable acts of barbarity against the Israelis on October 7. Earlier this week, he spoke to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and said he is against antisemitism and anything that "promotes hate and conflict" and stated that X would not promote hate speech. "The fact that you came here speaks volumes of your commitment to try to secure a better future," Netanyahu told Musk during the conversation. Musk has attributed a 'significant decline' in X's advertising revenue to the allegations of antisemitism. Elon Musk-owned social media company X could lose as much as $75 million in advertising revenue by the end of the year as dozens of major brands pause their marketing campaigns, the New York Times reported on Friday.

Musk backing an antisemitic post on the platform last week has led several companies including Walt Disney and Warner Bros Discovery to pause their advertisements on the site formerly called Twitter.

X has struck back and sued media watchdog group Media Matters, alleging the organization defamed the platform with a report that said ads for major brands including Apple and Oracle had appeared next to posts touting Adolf Hitler and the Nazi party.

Internal documents viewed by The New York Times this week list more than 200 ad units of companies from the likes of Airbnb, Amazon, Coca-Cola and Microsoft, many of which have halted or are considering pausing their ads on the social network, the report said.

X said on Friday that $11 million in revenue was at risk and the exact figure fluctuated as some advertisers returned to the platform and others increased spending, according to the report.

The company did not immediately respond to a Reuters request for comment.

Advertisers have fled X since Musk bought it in October 2022 and reduced content moderation, resulting in a sharp rise in hate speech on the site, according to civil rights groups.

The platform's U.S. ad revenue has declined at least 55% year-over-year each month since Musk's takeover, Reuters previously reported.

Elon Musk meets his father after 7 years: 'The family cried'

A storm of controversy surrounds Elon Musk's ambitious venture, Neuralink. Four U.S. Lawmakers have called for a securities and exchange commission investigation, alleging securities fraud over claims that musk misled investors about the safety of neuralink's groundbreaking brain implant.

Safety concerns surround Neuralink's human brain implant trials

Four US lawmakers, including Democratic House Reps. Earl Blumenauer, Jim McGovern, Barbara Lee, and Tony Cardenas, have formally requested the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) to investigate Elon Musk for potential securities fraud.

According to Reuters, the lawmakers allege that Musk misled investors regarding the safety of Neuralink's brain implant, urging the SEC to scrutinise the CEO's statements about the device's safety.

Neuralink, Musk's ambitious venture, is on the verge of testing its brain implant in humans, a significant step toward addressing paralysis and various neurological conditions.

The lawmakers' request is rooted in veterinary records from Neuralink's monkey experiments, revealing "debilitating health effects," including paralysis, seizures, and brain swelling. Notably, at least 12 monkeys were euthanised due to issues with the company's implant, according to the letter sent to the SEC.

Despite concerns raised by the animal testing results, Musk reportedly downplayed the issues. In a social media post on September 10, Musk stated, "no monkey has died as a result of a Neuralink implant," emphasising the use of "terminal" monkeys to minimise risks to healthy ones. Lawmakers argue that evidence suggests a direct link between animal deaths and the safety and marketability of Neuralink's brain-computer interface, potentially violating SEC rules by denying this connection.

Neuralink has yet to respond to requests for comment on the lawmakers' letter to the SEC. Last year, Reuters reported on allegations from Neuralink employees about rushed and flawed surgeries on animals, contributing to unnecessary deaths.

The push for speed, as revealed by Reuters, was attributed to Musk, who pressured staff to provide necessary safety data for FDA approval. In May, Neuralink announced FDA clearance for its first-in-human clinical trial without disclosing specific study details.

Amid the ongoing Israel-Hamas conflict, 'X' owner Elon Musk has announced an initiative to contribute to the relief efforts. Musk declared on 'X' that he would donate all advertising revenue associated with the war in Gaza to hospitals in Israel and the Red Cross/Crescent in Gaza.

According to reports, the announcement aims to address the humanitarian situation arising from the conflicts, which have claimed over 13,000 lives in the densely populated Gaza Strip. The decision comes at a time when Elon Musk faces challenges related to the social media platform's content and advertising policies.

Advertisers have been quitting the platform due to concerns about their ads appearing next to controversial content, including pro-Nazi materials and hate speech, The Times of Israel reported.

Notably, Musk responded to a user's query about ensuring funds do not reach Palestinian terror group Hamas, stating, "We will track how funds are spent and go through Red Cross/Crescent. Better ideas are welcome. We should care about the innocent regardless of race, creed, religion or anything else."

This move by Musk also follows his recent posts endorsing an antisemitic conspiracy theory, further heightening tensions on the platform.

Elon Musk's commitment to humanitarian aid extends beyond 'X'. Last month, he revealed that his satellite network, Starlink, would provide connectivity to recognised aid organisations in Gaza. This support became crucial after communication and internet services were disrupted in the region. Starlink, developed by Musk's SpaceX, aims to provide low-cost internet access to remote areas and has plans to deploy as many as 42,000 satellites in its mega constellation.

Despite the social media platform's efforts to contribute to humanitarian causes, the platform has been facing setbacks in retaining advertisers since Musk's takeover. Major companies like IBM, NBCUniversal, and its parent company Comcast halted advertising on X following reports that their ads were appearing alongside pro-Nazi content.

In response, 'X' filed a lawsuit against Media Matters, the organisation that reported the issue. Advertisers have been wary of the platform due to concerns about its content and Musk's controversial posts, including those that have been criticised as tolerating antisemitic messages.

Similar concerns were raised after some of the ads were shown right next to the alleged ‘antisemitic’ posts on X.

While quoting a post on X bearing the above message, Musk had said the user had "said the actual truth".

The controversy caused several advertisers including Warner Bros., Paramount Global and Comcast to temporarily stop spending on the platform.

Elon Musk says X will donate ad revenue linked to war to hospitals in Israel and Gaza

US lawmakers on Tuesday (Nov 21) wrote to billionaire Elon Musk highlighting concerns on how his social media platform X appeared to be benefiting from the premium accounts that glorified violence against Israel.

A group of 27 lawmakers wrote a letter to Musk and X chief executive Linda Yaccarino, expressing concerns citing reports from nonprofit organizations that showcased people with X Premium accounts "glorifying barbaric acts of violence against Israelis."

"These reports demonstrated that X is profiting from the spread of this gruesome and harmful propaganda through account subscription fees and ad revenue," the lawmakers wrote, adding that much of the offensive content remained live despite being flagged by researchers.

The lawmakers further said that X earned profit from the posts both from subscription fees as well as ads displayed in replies to both Premium and regular posts.

"X has financially benefited from the spread of demonstrably false and misleading content as well," the lawmakers wrote.

They also noted that since the US had designated Hamas as a terrorist organization in 1997, it was illegal to intentionally provide material support or resources to the group.

Elon Musk's Tesla and India are closing in on an agreement that would allow the automaker to ship its electric cars to India from 2024 and set up a factory within two years, a report by the news agency Bloomberg said on Monday (Nov 21).

Elon Musk's Tesla and India are closing in on an agreement that would allow the automaker to ship its electric cars to India from 2024 and set up a factory within two years, a report by the news agency Bloomberg said on Monday (Nov 21). Speaking to Bloomberg, people familiar with the developments said that an announcement could come at the Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit in January. One of the persons said the states of Gujarat, Maharashtra and Tamil Nadu are under consideration as they already have well-established ecosystems for electric vehicles (EV) and exports. Another person said that Tesla will commit an initial minimum investment in any plant of around $2 billion, and would look to increase purchases of auto parts from India to as much as $15 billion. The automaker will also seek to make some batteries in the country to bring down costs, the person added. Indian minister visits Tesla plant, hails automaker's ties with New Delhi Nearly a week back, Indian Trade Minister Piyush Goyal visited Tesla's factory in California's Fremont and hailed the automaker's ties with New Delhi. Trade Minister Goyal said that Tesla was on track to double its import of components from India. In a post on X, Goyal said that he was proud to see the growing importance of auto component suppliers from India in the Tesla EV supply chain. The Modi government has been pushing to increase domestic manufacturing of EVs and encourage a more rapid adoption of cleaner transport. Bloomberg reported that in India, the demand for EVs is growing among aspirational middle-class consumers, and this could be a boon for Tesla. Currently, the automaker doesn't import cars directly to India due to the high tariffs that are levied. Bloomberg also reported that when its first locally made cars do go on sale they could retail for as little as $20,000. Elon Musk has criticised India's high import taxes and its EV policies. India, meanwhile, advised Tesla not to sell cars in the country that have been made in China. (With inputs from agencies)

Tesla to ship cars to India from 2024, set up factory within two years: Report

Elon Musk’s social media company X has sued nonprofit Media Matters accusing the organisation of defaming the platform after it published a report which said that ads for major brands appeared next to posts hailing Hitler and the Nazi party.

The platform, according to the lawsuit filed in the United States District Court in Texas, alleges that the media non-profit is driving advertisers away by portraying X as full of antisemitic content.

Meanwhile, US President Joe Biden on Monday (Nov 20) announced that he is joining Threads, Meta’s social media rival to X, days after the White House blasted Musk’s “abhorrent promotion” of an antisemitic conspiracy theory.

Musk sues media nonprofit

In the lawsuit, X claimed that the media non-profit “manipulated” the platform by “tricking the algorithm into thinking Media Matters wanted to view both hateful content and content from large advertisers.”

It also alleged that the media non-profit used accounts that exclusively followed accounts for major brands or users known to produce fringe content while also “endlessly scrolling and refreshing” the feed until it found ads next to extremist posts.

The report misrepresented the typical experience of the user “with the intention of harming X and its business,” said X. Ads for IBM, Comcast and Oracle only appeared alongside hateful content for one viewer – Media Matters, the platform claimed.

“Media Matters knowingly and maliciously manufactured side-by-side images depicting advertisers' posts on X Corp.’s social media platform beside Neo-Nazi and white-nationalist fringe content and then portrayed these manufactured images as if they were what typical X users experience,” said the company in its lawsuit.

X has sought unspecified cash damages and to take down the report.

A ‘frivolous’ lawsuit

President of Media Matters, Angelo Carusone called the lawsuit “frivolous” in an emailed statement, as per Reuters, and said it was “meant to bully X’s critics into silence”. However, the media watchdog “stands behind its reporting and looks forward to winning in court,” he added.

Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton, on Monday (Nov 20) said that his office was opening an investigation into Media Matters and that he was “extremely troubled” by the allegations.

The report prompted high-profile companies, including Apple, Comcast, NBCUniversal and IBM to pause their advertising on X last week after it showed that their ads were displayed with pro-Nazi content.

Musk recently came under fire after he replied to an antisemitic post on the platform saying, “You have said the actual truth.”

The post was seen as a reference to a longtime false conspiracy theory which claims that Jewish people have a secret plan to bring illegal immigrants into the US and move demographics away from a White majority.

US prez ‘quits’ X

Biden made his debut on Threads, on Monday (Nov 20). “Folks, it’s President Biden,” he said in his first post on his 81st birthday. “You’re hearing from me today from a new platform but my message to you hasn't changed,” he added.

“I don’t see a dark, dismal, divided future for America. I see an America about to take off,” said the US president.

The White House later confirmed that they have also launched Threads accounts for First Lady Jill Biden, Vice President Kamala Harris, her husband Douglas Emhoff and the White House itself in English and Spanish.

“Threads is an additional way we can communicate with the American people about this administration's historic actions to create 14 million jobs, lower prescription drug costs, and protect freedoms and more,” said a White House official, adding that the launch had been in the works for several weeks.

X has sought unspecified cash damages and to take down the report. A ‘frivolous’ lawsuit President of Media Matters, Angelo Carusone called the lawsuit “frivolous” in an emailed statement, as per Reuters, and said it was “meant to bully X’s critics into silence”. Musk recently came under fire after he replied to an antisemitic post on the platform saying, “You have said the actual truth.” The post was seen as a reference to a longtime false conspiracy theory which claims that Jewish people have a secret plan to bring illegal immigrants into the US and move demographics away from a White majority. US prez ‘quits’ X Biden made his debut on Threads, on Monday (Nov 20).
