Starring Dwayne 'The Rock'Johnson and Jason Statham, the spin-off from the popular franchise may be giving us a new plot and new characters but ultimately it succumbs to tried and tested action and chase sequences making this David Leitch directorial venture a stale affair.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The film is super high on testosterone to the point of being ridiculous. Everyone is trained in martial arts and everyone can outwit the other. What's the story, you ask? A convoluted plot of two rivals. Once rivals, special agents Luke Hobbs(Johnson) and Deckard Shaw(Statham), have to unwillingly team up together to save the world from a deadly virus which has been injected in another agent Hattie Shaw's palm. Hattie is Deckard's estranged sister who has to bury differences with her brother in order to save herself and the world. Family, in fact, plays an integral part of the narrative- much like the previous films of the franchise.&nbsp;</p>

<p>So who is stopping the trio from doing their job? Brixton(Idris Elba), the genetically modified 'bad guy' who declares himself as the 'black Superman' for he is unbeatable and the super agents, despite their skills, are no match to Brixton's power.</p>

<p>Much like the franchise, this one too has innumerable, mind-numbing, action sequences which are thrilling and will keep you on the edge of your seats. Because it has the Rock as its main protagonist, one gets to see some outlandish stunts that only suit him. There is a sequence where he holds on to a helicopter with his bare hands, he jumps off buildings without any harness and perfectly lands on his target. Rock basically can do anything and everything and the film showcases his chiseled body in all its glory. Statham undoubtedly plays his sidekick, even though his character may refuse to agree to it as Rock suggests in one sequence. The two actors, in fact, share great chemistry on screen and as they go around saving the world, they also have the choicest insults for each other. Their constant banter does ensure a good laugh. Vanessa Kirby is impressive as Shaw's sister.&nbsp;</p>

<p>There are some very interesting cameos- which are hilarious and the high point of the film. But overall, the film fails to give you the adrenaline rush that the previous films had given. The story seems a mix of Mission Impossible and Fast and Furious and overall a predictable affair. Watch it only if you are a fan of the two leads, or the franchise.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Dwayne 'The Rock'&nbsp;Johnson is all set to revisit his childhood in a new television show. Titled 'Young Rock', the new NBC series will revisit Dwayne's younger years.<br />

News agency reported on Saturday that the series will have eleven comedy episodes, Johnson will appear in all of them and will also serve as the executive producer. The actor was born in Northern California and grew up in Hawaii, Tennessee and Connecticut throughout his childhood.<br />

The list, though, is lead by Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson who has reclaimed his position as the world's highest-paid actor, according to the rich list otherwise dominated by the cast of Marvel's record-breaking 'Avengers' films.<br />

Former professional wrestler Johnson raked in $89.4 million over 12 months, rising back to the number-one spot he last held in 2016. He placed second in both of the last two years.<br />

<p>"We started talking about the potential of a spin-off really after 'Fast Five'. And then when 'Fast 6' came around, that's when we started having real talks about it, but then the challenge was just finding out what the creative could be and how we cracked that," Johnson said.</p>

<p>"I'm really happy that we were not only able to crack the creative and really lean into the relationship and chemistry - the biting chemistry between myself and Jason Statham - but I think that also you find out that it's something the fans have been wanting for some time now," he added.</p>

<p>The 46-year-old star said with the spin-off, his aim is to extend the life of the franchise, which is eagerly followed by millions of fans around the globe.&nbsp;</p>

<p>"When you have a franchise that is as successful as the 'Fast and Furious' franchise, the goal, certainly my goal, was always to try and create a scenario where we have as much longevity as we possibly can have.</p>

<p>"And in that spirit, you have to evolve and you have to spin off and you have to create new characters and new stories, especially when you're coming off 'Fast 8', where you have an eight at the end of your title," the actor added.</p>

<p>Dwayne Johnson known as 'The Rock' has, for the first time, opened up about his struggle with depression as he revealed he had his first brush with the condition when he was a teenager.<br />

"Struggle and pain is real. I was devastated and depressed. I reached a point where I didn't want to do a thing or go anywhere. I was crying constantly," Johnson told The Express.<br />

The 45-year-old professional wrestler-turned-actor said he was broken when he saw his mother, Ata, try to commit suicide in front of him, months after they were evicted from their apartment. Dwayne was 15 back then.&nbsp;<br />

"She got out of the car on Interstate 65 in Nashville and walked into oncoming traffic. Big rigs and cars were swerving out of the way. I grabbed her and pulled her back on the gravel shoulder of the road.<br />

"What's crazy about that suicide attempt is that to this day, she has no recollection of it whatsoever. Probably best she doesn't," he said.<br />

Johnson said, years later, his dream of becoming a professional football player turned to dust after he suffered numerous injuries. He signed with the Canadian Football League but was let go within a year.<br />
Some time after, the actor's girlfriend left him too.<br />

"That was my absolute worst time," he added.<br />

<p>The Walt Disney Company has donated $1 million to Red Cross relief efforts.</p>

<p>The social media giant, Facebook has also announced that it will match donations made on its website up to $1 million.</p>

<p>Hurricane Harvey has now been downgraded from the category 4 storm to a tropical storm but it has already devastated Texas and surrounding areas. So far, the storm has killed many and caused over&nbsp;$3 billion in property damage.</p>

Ever since Hurricane Harvey has affected lives and property in Texas and neighbouring areas, Hollywood celebrities have come out to support and donate to the relief work. Leonardo DiCaprio is the latest celebrity to pledge monetary assistance to the Texas victims of Hurricane Harvey. The Leonardo DiCaprio Foundation has pledged the money to the newly established United Way Harvey Recovery Fund. United Way Worldwide is the largest privately funded nonprofit that is working to support those affected by the strongest hurricane that has hit the US mainland since 12 years. This isn't the first time that The Leonardo DiCaprio Foundation has provided support to disaster relief aid. Leonardo is known for his philanthropic ways--he has provided donations to the victims of the 2004 Indian Ocean tsunami, the 2010 Haiti earthquake, 2012 Hurricane Sandy, and others.
