While there is no official word on when the last rites of the actress would be conducted, reports suggest that the body will be brought back to Mumbai on Tuesday morning.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The Delhi High Court on Thursday rejected a plea seeking penal action against the producers and the director of Bollywood movie <em>Padmaavat&nbsp;</em>for alleged glorification of the practice of &#39;sati&#39;.<br />

&#39;Sati&#39; is an obsolete funeral custom where a widow immolates herself on her husband&#39;s pyre and the law prohibits it.<br />

A bench of Acting Chief Justice Gita Mittal and Justice C Hari Shankar dismissed the plea saying the petitioner should have approached the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) at an appropriate time.<br />

The high court also said in its detailed order that the Board has exercised its discretion carefully and not given a &#39;U&#39; certificate for unrestricted viewing but granted &#39;U/A&#39; certification.<br />
<br />
&quot;As on date, the film stands released as well. The film stands released without any complaints and it is already in public domain. If the petitioner was having any complaint with regard to the issue raised in his writ petition, he should have made a complaint before the CBFC at an appropriate time. We find no merit in the petition. The same is dismissed.&quot; the court said.<br />

The bench also said that writs cannot be issued against artistic works premised on individual perceptions.<br />

&ldquo;The entire writ petition is premised on the sole submission that it has elaborately choreographed the &lsquo;Sati&rsquo; or &lsquo;Jauhar&rsquo; scenes in the history of Indian cinema. The writ petitioner does not even state at all that the film is &lsquo;supporting, justifying or propagating the practice of sati&rsquo;. It is therefore, not possible to hold that the film would invite penal action under the Commission of Sati (Prevention) Act, 1987.<br />

A PIL by social activist Swami Agnivesh had sought deletion of the scenes that depict the practice of &#39;sati&#39;.<br />

The court had earlier observed that according to one of the disclaimers in the film, it is a work of fiction and therefore, it does not show any intention or animus on the part of the producers or director, Sanjay Leela Bhansali, to propagate the practice.<br />
<br />
The petition, filed through advocate Mehmood Pracha, had sought directions to the Delhi Police to lodge FIR against Ajit Andhare, one of the producers, and Bhansali.<br />
<br />
Central government standing counsel Manish Mohan, who appeared for the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting and the censor board, had opposed the plea, saying the movie was certified for public viewing after considering all the aspects.</p>

<p>The court had said that in the present day and age, it was &quot;hesitant to accept&quot; the petitioner&#39;s claim that someone would follow such a practice just by seeing the movie.</p>

<p>The high court on January 25 had rejected a Rajasthan-based group&#39;s plea seeking quashing of the certification granted to the film, saying the Supreme Court had permitted its release.<br />

Deepika Padukone and Irrfan Khan's film with Vishal Bhardwaj has been delayed. Here's why

<p>One of the first few celebrities in India to openly talk about mental health and admit that she had been suffering from depression, Deepika Padukone has been actively working towards spreading awareness around mental health for the past few years.<br />

On Wednesday, as she spoke at an interactive session that also had Rishad Premji in attendance, the actress stated that her sportsmanship helped her quickly overcome the psychological problem she suffered.<br />

&quot;I think it is important to deal with (the people) who experience mental illness with lot more empathy and little more heart. I think it is really very important for every organisation to focus on mental health and to ensure that you have a counsellor coming, a Psychiatrist coming in (regularly)<br />

<p>By now half of the country has watched <em>Padmaavat</em>. Even those who haven&#39;t - I am sure - intend to watch it in the coming days. Because even if you aren&#39;t a fan of Sanjay Leela Bhansali&#39;s film or Deepika Padukone, or just don&#39;t like period dramas, Karni Sena has ensured in the past few months that you get curious about Bhansali&#39;s magnum opus and rush to watch it in theaters to understand what the fuss is all about.&nbsp;<br />
<br />
Here&#39;s some good news for those who haven&#39;t watched it yet. There really isn&#39;t anything offensive about the Rajput community in the film. Instead, it glorifies the community to the hilt. The film also for the first time, shows a leading man as bisexual. Okay, it just hints that Khilji swung both ways. But that itself is an achievement from Bollywood which has for generations treated members of the LGBT community as comic relief in films. Neither has any of the leading men in commercial cinema played a character who could lust over women and also get &#39;physically&#39; comfortable with his prime confidant at the same time like Khilji does with his manservant Malik Kafur in <em>Padmaavat</em><em>.&nbsp;</em></p>

<p>It&#39;s a first in Bollywood and hopefully, the crackling performances by both Ranveer Singh and Jim Sarbh will encourage more writers to write bisexual and homosexual characters as leads in films and inspire more mainstream Bollywood actors to take up such roles.&nbsp;</p>

<p>But did Sanjay Leela Bhansali really think of breaking the taboo when he wrote Khilji and Malik Kafur&#39;s characters? Or was it an accidental breakthrough? Because if one looks at <em>Padmaavat</em><em> </em>closely, (and shut all the unnecessary noise that Karni Sena is creating) Bhansali&#39;s film sticks to all sorts of stereotypes and plays to the gallery.&nbsp;</p>

<p>At its core, <em>Padmaavat</em> focusses on Khilji and his maverick, brutal ways. He is the antagonist in the film, even though the story is from his perspective. He is pitted against the moralistic, brave Rajputs.&nbsp;</p>

<p>A Muslim invader, who is ruthless, barbaric and conniving, Bhansali&#39;s depiction of Khilji is far from how the actual Sultan of Delhi was. It just clearly ticks all sorts of stereotypes that one can possibly think of while depicting a Muslim ruler. His tents are dark, he is unkempt, he philanders, plunders, loots and chomps on meat like a barbaric nomad. Something that Khilji&nbsp;actually wasn&#39;t.&nbsp;<br />

History states that in real life Alauddin Khilji was not cruel but a great administrator and that his siege of Chittor was clearly politically motivated. He is shown as the epitome of all things right and yes, he is a Hindu ruler, a worshiper of Bhawani.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The narrative, pretty evidently, makes clear demarcations. The righteous one is Hindu, the ruthless, barbaric one is a Muslim. Khilji is flawed in every possible way. He only knows and understands the language of killing. And unlike his Hindu enemy, Khilji isn&#39;t governed by <em>usool</em><em> </em>or <em>marayada</em> or <em>shaan</em>. Bhansali&#39;s depiction of Khilji is all black, there are no grey spots even. In the final battle scene, the antagonist wins the battle by unfair means, but the viewer&#39;s take away is of the moral victory of the righteous Rajput king.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Which is why the fact that Khilji is shown as bisexual could also be just one of the &#39;negative&#39; traits that the character possesses. Maybe, the fact that he lusts over women, and even eyes his eunuch commander general is also supposed to be a flaw.
