Per the latest reports, a top DDCA official confirmed the development and informed the Delhi Police about it.&nbsp;
"Yes, we received a threat email this morning and have already forwarded it to the Delhi Police. They already swung into action and did an inspection of the venue some time back," said the official in a chat with the Times of India (TOI).
Per that report, the email also mentioned how Pakistan&rsquo;s faithful sleeper cells, currently present in India, would be activated following India&rsquo;s robust response to the horrific Pahalgam terror attack (April 22) last month.&nbsp;
Following the deadliest attack on Indian soil since the 2019 Pulwama bombing, where Pakistan-based terrorists killed 26 innocent lives in broad daylight, the Indian Armed Forces carried out &lsquo;Operation Sindoor&rsquo; in its response, launching a series of precise strikes on nine selected targets in Pakistan and Pakised Occupied Kashmir (PoK), neutralising several terror camps and launchpads on wee hours on Wednesday (May 7).

Indian World Cup winner Kirti Azad makes big promises ahead of DDCA elections

The Arun Jaitley Cricket Stadium in Delhi has geared up to host the World Cup 2023 starting next week. The Cricket Stadium in the capital city has undergone several changes in recent months to prepare for the marquee event. As the ICC Cricket World Cup trophy made a stop-over at the venue on Thursday (Sep 28), the Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA) asked the ground staff, headed by chief curator Ankit Datta, to unveil the new-look outfield to the senior administrators during the ceremony.

This gesture from the association was to acknowledge the efforts put in by the ground staff to ready the stadium in time for the World Cup 2023.

Following the IPL earlier this year, the ground staff at the Arun Jaitley Stadium got into overdrive,&nbsp;making new pitches on the centre square, alongside adding two new strips on the practice areas.&nbsp;

The square was dug up one-and-a-half feet to create two pitches beside each side of the main square while preparing one new pitch at each practice area. Although this process takes around four months from start to finish, the ground staff at this venue has completed it within two months.

Per DDCA President Rohan Jaitley, special arrangements have been made to give the ground a new look.

“A lot of work has gone into the outfield and ground maintenance. Making new pitches is a special effort. We have got Bermuda Selection 1 grass for the outfield so that it maintains its lush look. We have also bought a cover from England that covers the entire ground. It will be easier to start the game if there is rain around," Rohan Jaitley told the Times of India (TOI).

<h2>Washrooms undergo major work, dressing rooms renovated</h2>

Rohan said that outside of the outfield, the infrastructure has also undergone some major changes, with seats throughout the stadium being changed. It will be a new-look structure with an emphasis on providing fans with a wonderful experience.&nbsp;

Washrooms have undergone some quality work too, while changes have been made to the dressing room as well.

"Special emphasis has been put on the experience for the fans. The infrastructure has been overhauled, not just renovated. Washrooms have undergone major work. The dressing rooms have been renovated. Water dispensers have been installed at every corner, and every air conditioning vent has been redone," Jaitley added.

The venue will host its first game between South Africa and Sri Lanka on October 7.

Two new pitches added, all seats changed: Delhi’s Arun Jaitley Stadium gets makeover for World Cup showdown

Controversial Delhi and Districts Cricket Association (DDCA) general secretary Vinod Tihara is currently in jail for allegedly failing to "comply with GST norms" after going "incommunicado" amid speculation that he was self-isolating with symptoms of COVID-19.

"A Delhi resident named Vinod Tihara was arrested by Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) wing of Noida on March 17 on allegations of violations of GST norms and is currently in Meerut jail," SSP Meerut, Ajay Sahni, told PTI.

There was no immediate clarity on the exact nature of the violation he has been accused of committing.

Tihara is Delhi cricket's representative at the BCCI and an influential figure in state's cricket body.

Tihara had been "unreachable" since mid-March leaving DDCA officials, including members of his faction, flummoxed.

"For the longest time, we were under the impression that Vinod ji has tested positive for COVID-19. One or two people who contacted his family members were told that he is under isolation. His phone is switched off for the past one month," a senior DDCA office-bearer told PTI.

During a recent online hearing in a matter of financial misappropriation of funds, organised by DDCA ombudsman Justice (Retd) Deepak Verma via Skype, one of the body's lawyers, known for his proximity to Tihara, told the apex council members that he had tested positive for novel coronavirus.

"We all freaked out as we had met Tihara till March 15 at various places. We told him that why weren't we informed as we all needed to quarantine ourselves.

"He then changed track and said that if you people would have been COVID-19 positive, then you would have known by now. It was very suspicious," the Apex Council member who was suspended that day, said.

In fact, some of the members are now wondering how did a letter signed by Tihara in support of one of the lawyers, whose service was being terminated, was submitted to Ombudsman, when all this while he had been in jail.

It is understood that because of the lockdown, his bail plea has been deferred.

DDCA on Tuesday announced that the renaming of the stadium will be done on September 12.

The former Union Minister who passed away on August 24, was appointed as the chief of Delhi's cricket body in 1999 and he held the post for 13 years.

Rijiju also met shuttler PV Sindhu on Tuesday as she returned after a winning stint at the BWF World Championships.

The Sports Ministry awarded Sindhu with Rs 10 lakhs as she became the first Indian to win gold at the championship.

"We have felicitated everyone who have returned from the BWF World Championships. This was the first time, that we had the cheques ready before the players arrived in Delhi. I believe the government should help players in every way possible," Rijiju said.

"PV Sindhu was also awarded 10 lakhs, Sai Praneeth was given four lakhs for winning a bronze medal in BWF World Championships," he added.

Rijiju had also handed over cheques worth Rs 1.82 crores to para-badminton world championship winners.

The gold medal winners got Rs 20 lakh each while silver and bronze medallist took home Rs 14 lakh and Rs 8 lakh respectively.

Winners in doubles events were given Rs 15 lakh each for gold, Rs 10.5 lakh each for silver and Rs 6 lakh each for bronze.

"Para-Athletes who have returned from badminton championships have also been awarded. Players winning gold have been awarded 20 lakhs, players who have won gold in the doubles event, have been awarded 15 lakhs each," Rijiju said.

"All the para-athletes were very happy. The Narendra Modi-government is adamant on working hard and we will encourage every athlete in the country," he added.&nbsp;

"Based on the complaint, a case has been registered and the accused and his brother Naresh were arrested," the DCP said.&nbsp;

Dedha's name featured in the initial 79-member list, released by the DDCA in November for the U-23 trials. As per the probables list accessed by PTI, his date of birth is November 22, 1995.

Delhi &amp; Districts Cricket Association (DDCA) president Rajat Sharma told PTI that guilty will not be spared.

"I have personally spoken to the Delhi Police Commissioner Amulya Patnaik. The guilty will not go unpunished. We will register an FIR," Sharma said.

Sharma, who went to meet Bhandari at the hospital said, "He is very shaken and it is natural. The doctors have advised that he should be kept under observation for 24 hours as a precautionary measure."

"The goons were pressurising him to select a player, who had failed to get into the U-23 team on merit. Bhandari claimed that the one man also threatened him with a revolver. This is shameful that an honest selector was being prevented from performing his duties. I have been told that one person has been detained for questioning," Sharma, who is also a well-known journalist, informed.

Former India batsman Virender Sehwag demanded strict action.

Delhi's senior team manager Shankar Saini narrated the incident.

"I was having my meal along with a colleague inside the tent and Bhandari along with other selectors and senior team coach Mithun Manhas was watching the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy probables play a trial game.

"A couple of men first came and went up to Bhandari. There was a heated exchange between Bhandari and the two men. They left and before we could gather our thoughts, suddenly some 15 men armed with hockey sticks, rods and cycle chains came charging," Saini said.

"When the other senior team players attending the trials along with us rushed to save Bhandari, they started threatening us and one of them said, "Don't get into this or else we will shoot you."&nbsp;

"They attacked Bhandari with hockey sticks and rods as he tried to run away and he sustained head injury," the former Delhi seamer added.

According to an eye witness, Dedha and his accomplices chased Bhandari in front of the senior team players as the former India pacer ran for his life.&nbsp;

When asked who could be behind the attack, Saini said, "I was not there when these two guys came and spoke with Bhandari. He is obviously rattled and once he gives his statement to the police, we will get to know more."

Journalist Rajat Sharma to contest for DDCA President's post

The Delhi High Court today allowed Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal&#39;s plea calling for two DDCA documents in connection with a defamation suit filed against him by Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley.

Referring to one of Jaitley&#39;s cross-examination sessions on Kejriwal&#39;s behalf, the court said questions put to the Union minister were not relevant to the case and the questioners should have restrained themselves from putting them.

The court said it was not clear in which direction the cross examination was proceeding.

Justice Manmohan also made it clear that the court was allowing Kejriwal&#39;s plea to summon only two documents of February 10, 2003 and April 6, 2003, with which Jaitley can be confronted during his cross-examination.

Jaitley&#39;s cross examination in the suit is going on before a joint registrar who has directed Kejriwal to wind up the cross examination on February 12 itself.

The high court, however, declined Kejriwal&#39;s plea to summon the entire minutes of meetings of the cricket body between 1999 and 2013, when Jaitley was president of the Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA).

The court said it cannot understand how the minutes of those meetings were relevant to this defamation suit against Kejriwal. Moreover, no grounds were given by the chief minister for summoning the details.

Regarding the documents which have been allowed to be summoned, the court asked Kejriwal to file a proper application in two days.
