<p>Kom, who turns 40 in November, became the country's first woman boxer to win a Commonwealth Games gold medal in 2018. Kom reportedly fell trying to duck a punch in her opening bout and had to be carried from the ring. "I have never had a knee injury before," she was quoted by the Times of India as saying before being taken to hospital.</p>

<p>Kom, from a humble background in the remote northeastern state of Manipur, has won six world championships and five Asian championships in a career stretching more than two decades. She also won an Olympic bronze medal at the 2012 Games in London and Asian Games gold in 2014.</p>

<p>After winning a gold medal in the Women`s World Boxing Championship in Turkey, Indian pugilist Nikhat Zareen has urged the parents to change their mentality towards a girl child and support them in whatever they want to do in their lives.</p>

<p>"There are still some people in the society who feel sad when they see that a girl child is born but I feel that if a daughter is born then it is Goddess Laxmi. So, nowadays daughters are making the country as well as their family members proud. So, I think that they should change their mentality and support their daughters. Whatever their dreams are of becoming a doctor or Police officer or a boxer whatever it is. You need to support and she will make her parents feel happy. So, I do not believe in girls or boys. For me both are equal. Girls are as strong as boys," Zareen told ANI.</p>

<p>After winning the gold medal Bollywood superstar and Nikhat Zareen`s favourite actor Salman Khan tweeted to congratulate her on her achievements. For World Champion pugilist, it was a dream come true.</p>

<p>"When I saw his tweet I was like dancing. I was happily enjoying that and I was emotional at the same time that for so many years I was waiting for Salman Khan`s message and tweet. It finally happened and I was very happy I was on cloud nine at that day," said Zareen.</p>

<p>After becoming only the fifth Indian woman pugilist to win a gold in the Women`s World Boxing Championship, congratulatory messages are pouring in for the boxer."I mean it has just been three days since that day I am only giving interviews and people are messaging me. My phone is full of messages, DMs and notifications. So, yes I am excited to meet my family and I wanted to celebrate this with my family and friends," she said.</p>

Tyson was allegedly hit with a water bottle by the passenger, who claimed to be his fan. The boxing great lost his cool and attacked him in front of the others.</p>

For the unversed, the 38-year-old collapsed in the ring in Munich on Saturday (May 14) while battling&nbsp;Uganda's Hamza Wandera, as per the New York Post report.</p>

<p>“We lost our compatriot Musa Askan Yamak, a boxer from Alucra, who won European and Asian championships, at a young age after a heart attack,” Turkish official Hasan Turan mentioned on the social media platform Twitter.</p>

<p>The fight was streamed live for the audience. Yamak&nbsp;collapsed&nbsp;prior to&nbsp;the third round of the contest and never recovered. He had taken a big hit from Wandera in the second round following&nbsp;which he stumbled.</p>

<p>Soon, the medical team came to the ring to assist him and help revive his life. He was rushed to a local hospital, however, the boxer was&nbsp;declared dead by the doctors.</p>

<p>“The paramedics saw turbulent scenes of emotionally charged fans and family members on site. To ensure the safety of the paramedics, we sent out a lot of patrols,” a spokesperson of the Munich Police told the German-tabloid newspaper BILD. "We then set up a protection corridor on-site so that the paramedics could work safely and conscientiously,” the spokesperson added.</p>

Such was the impact of Tyson's anger on the fellow passenger that he was left badly bruised with a bloody forehead.</p>

<p>Mary Kom's aim is to give platform to upcoming boxers and focus on her preparations for the Commonwealth Games.</p>

<p>In a communication to the Boxing Federation of India, the London Olympic bronze medallist said, "I would like to withdraw to give the opportunity to the younger generation to make a name for themselves on the International stage and get exposure and experience of major tournaments. I would like to focus on the preparation for the Commonwealth Games only."</p>

<p>Zapata took part in the GYM Gala International Boxing event Saturday in Montreal, losing to Marie Pier Houle in the fourth round of a welterweight match.</p>
