Washington Sundar then took out Bangladesh skipper Saif Hassan in the very next over before taking out Zakir Hasan two balls later. Tilak Varma then joined the party by removing opener Parvez Hossain as Bangladesh slipper to 4/36 in 8.4 overs.

Sai Kishore took another wicket in the 11th over by removing Shahadat Hossain, sending half the Bangla side back even before they hit 50 on the scorecard. Sai took another wicket of Afif Hossian, finishing his quota of four overs with three wickets for 12 runs. Bangladesh eventually could manage just 96/6 in their 20 overs with India spinners taking eight of their nine wickets while Arshdeep Singh also claimed one.

<h2>What did Barman allege?</h2>

Earlier this week, Barman had taken to the platform to allege that she lost the bronze medal to a transgender athlete, much to the shock of the Indian athletic community.&nbsp;&nbsp;

"I have lost my Asian Games bronze medal to transgender women at the 19th Asian Games held in Hangzhou, China. I want my medal back as it is against the rules of our athletics. Help me and support me please. #protestforfairplay," Barman had posted on X, before deleting it later in the day on October 2.

Barman&nbsp;alleged that such performance was not possible in four months, referring to&nbsp;Agasara.&nbsp;

<h2>Agasara's response&nbsp;</h2>

Despite the gravity of the allegations,&nbsp;Agasara kept a cool head and urged her compatriot to come up with proof to back up her claims.&nbsp;

"I know what I am. Ask her to show proof. I will also show that I have won the medal for India. I only want to do well for the country,"&nbsp;Agasara was quoted as saying by India Today.&nbsp;

Notably, Agasara took the bronze medal home after accumulating a total of 5712 points, four more than Barman, after the culmination of the eight events in the women's heptathlon.&nbsp;

Barman lost the medal, despite starting strong on the 100m hurdles. She trailed in the high jump after failing to clear the 1.73m mark and could not replicate her performance from Jakarta in the shot put as well.&nbsp;

And today it happened with Jena and Neeraj. So this is not just, uh I think they are purposefully doing this. I'm deeply, uh, saddened to see such kinds of incidents happening in the Asian Games," said George.&nbsp;

She added that the federation was looking to lodge protest against the Chinese officials.&nbsp;

"We are planning to protest against the officials. Now the competition is over. We've got gold and silver for Neeraj, Jena and Annu Rani. But this cannot because we knew. uh, our winning medals in China is very difficult. Even if you do better, they will do some mischief."

Notably, on Wednesday (October 4), Chopra won the gold medal but&nbsp;not before he was asked to re-attempt his first throw which was not measured during the first try, due to reasons unknown.&nbsp;

“They didn’t measure it properly. The next athlete threw quickly after me and then they lost the mark. For a while, they kept searching for the point of landing. I went and asked the officials what happened. I knew it was a good throw. I don’t know exactly how far it went but it felt good. Because they couldn’t figure out the mark, they offered to let me do the first throw again," said Chopra.&nbsp;

“The more we delayed, it was ruining the competition for other athletes also. Because there was wind and everyone was getting cold. This is the first time I am seeing something like this. The rule is six but I threw seven,” Chopra said after the event.

The controversies did not stop there as Chopra's compatriot and countryman Kishore Kumar Jena, who secured the silver medal, was wrongly flagged for an illegal attempt during one of his throws.&nbsp;

Our team should definitely look into why so many things have gone wrong. I haven’t seen this in big competitions because, after a disruption to the first throw, it could have thrown me off balance. We saw how Jyothi had to fight."

Despite the blockades, India is having its best-ever performance at the Asian Games and could easily end up with more than 90 medals.&nbsp;

Asian Games 2023: Three players fail doping tests in 24 hours, suspended provisionally

South Korean roller skater Jung Cheol-won endured an agonising heartbreak after he celebrated a tad too early before crossing the finish&nbsp;line. Leading the 3,000-metre relay race at the Hangzhou Asian Games in China on Monday (October 2), Jung eased up and raised his arms in the home stretch of the race, only to be pipped by Taiwan's&nbsp;Huang Yu-Lin and his outstretched leg on the line.

The 27-year-old South Korean was poised to finish the race in the first place but his momentary lapse in concentration not only caused his team to lose out on&nbsp;the gold medal but also meant that they would now have to mandatorily enrol in the country's&nbsp;military service.&nbsp;

“I made a rather big mistake,” Jung was quoted as saying by Reuters. “I didn’t come at full speed to the finish line. I let my guard down too early. I am very sorry.”

Having entered the Asian Games as a favourite, Neeraj on Wednesday stood up to the expectations with his golden arm. In his first attempt, Neeraj threw 82.38m while his second attempt saw him yield 84.49m. However, his medal-winning throw came in the fourth attempt when he attempted 88.88m as he continued his purple patch. His third attempt was a foul while he reached 80.80m in his fifth throw.

At the same time, his Indian compatriot Kishore Jena recorded a personal best of 87.54m to win the silver medal. He threw 81.26m in his first throw while his next throws produced 79.76, 86.77, and 87.54 metres respectively.

Starting the day with 69 medals, India equalled their previous best after race walkers Manju Rani and Ram Baboo won the bronze medal in the 35km race walk mixed team event. History was scripted when Jyothi Surekha Vennam and Pravin Ojas Deotale won gold in the Compound Archery Mixed Team event and took India’s tally to 71 medals in the Asian Games. This saw India record their best tally in the Asian Games.

So far, at the time of writing, India has bagged 16 gold, 27 silver, and 31 bronze medals which totals 74 medals overall. This is India’s joint-best gold medal tally, having equaled the 2018 record in Jakarta while the 27 silver medals are also the best they have achieved in the games. In terms of bronze medals, India still needs six medals to surpass their 2014 Incheon tally where they amassed 36.

Athletics has seen India rack up 23 medals where they have scripted history on multiple fronts.

India’s Boxing team and Rowing team come next with five medals each while there have been three medals each in Sailing and Squash. India also won historic medals in women’s cricket, Equestrian, Wushu, and other events.

With the men’s cricket team and Neeraj Chopra in Javelin Throw yet to spark magic, India could be on the rise in the overall medals. India still needs 26 medals to achieve the 100-medal mark with four days still to go before the closing ceremony of the games on Sunday (Oct 8).&nbsp;

Lin Yuwei and Wu Yanni hugged after women's 100m hurdles final. Lin won gold in the race. As both athletes hugged, Lin's lane number 6 was visible next to Wu's lane number, 4. The Tiananmen Square massacre took place on June 4 1989 and is often referred to as "6/4". Any allusion to the incident on the fateful day in 1989 is censored by Chinese authorities.

A report in The Guardian cited posts on Chinese social media network Weibo,&nbsp;which said that grey squares were visible in the picture where the numbers should have been. &nbsp;

Some Chinese news articles however, have reportedly published the photo without any editing.&nbsp;

The Tiananmen Square protests were huge, student-led pro-democracy demonstrations in Beijing and were ultimately suppressed by the Communist government in China. Troops and even tanks were sent to crush the protests.

In China, internet censorship operations involve human monitors who take a call on what content is to be restricted.

Weibo said in 2017 that it had employed 1000 'supervisors' who were to report on content that was “pornographic, illegal and harmful”. Weibo, the biggest social media network in China has 600 million monthly users.

The race in which Lin Yuwei won gold medal took place on China's National Day on October 1. The race was overshadowed by controversy.

Wu was given a red card for false start at the beginning of the race. She was allowed to contest after a protest. She finished 0.03 seconds behind her teammate who won the gold. However, Wu was disqualified after the race which allowed Jyothi Yarraji (India) to win silver medal.

Wu Yanni is one of the star athletes in China. Experts and fans of the sport were surprised when she was allowed to run in spite of a red card at the beginning of the race.

Chinese censors rush to block 'Tiananmen' image of hugging athletes at Asian Games

Ruturaj Gaikwad-led India opened their campaign in Asian Games 2023 with a 23-run win over Nepal on Tuesday (October 3). Riding on Yashasvi Jaiswal's maiden T20I ton (49-ball 100) and Rinku Singh's 15-ball 37 not out, India posted 202 for 4 and restricted the opposition to 179 for 9. With the win, India have progressed to the semi-finals. Jaiswal continued his rich form and scored his first-ever T20I century. In addition, he surpassed Shubman Gill to achieve a major Indian record.&nbsp;

Jaiswal, at the age of 21 years and 279 days, went past Gill's T20I record of being India's youngest-ever centurion in the shortest format. It is to be noted that the right-hander scored his maiden T20I hundred against New Zealand early this year. The 24-year-old Gill&nbsp;had smashed an impressive 126 not out, the highest individual score by an Indian in the format. Back then, Gill was 23 years old.

Playing in his first Asian Games contest, the impressive lad from Mumbai continued his purple patch in 2023 with a hundred. Jaiswal took 48 deliveries to complete his hundred while smashing the ball left, right, and centre. His innings consisted of 7 sixes and 8 fours and scored at a strike rate of more than 200 against an inexperienced Nepal side.

India captain Ruturaj Gaikwad initially won the toss and elected to bat as Jaiswal and Co fired from the start. Skipper Gaikwad scored 25 runs before getting out while Tilak Varma (2) and Jitesh Sharma (5) failed to make an impression. Rinku Singh (37) and Shivam Dube (25) would then lead India to 202/4 as they dominated with the bat.

Avesh Khan took three wickets for 32 while Ravi Bishnoi picked up three scalps by conceding 24. Arshdeep Singh got two wickets and Sai Kishore picked up one wicket.

Chasing a massive target, Nepal lost their first wicket early. Avesh Khan dismissed Aasif Sheikh in the 4th over at 10. Nepal tried to steer the innings by batting steadily, however, they could not succeed as they lost their second wicket in the 9th over. This time, Sai Kishore cleaned up Kushal Bhurtel at 28.

Nepal were looking helpless as two more batters went back to the pavilion in the 11th over. Ravi Bishnoi struck his magic and picked up the wickets of Kushal Malla (29) and Rohit Paudel (3).

India will guarantee at least a silver medal if they win their semifinal contest on Friday, assuring a medal in both men’s and women’s contingent of cricket. India will take on the winner of the Bangladesh and Malaysia contest that will take place on Thursday. Arch-rivals India and Pakistan could also meet in the showdown clash if both teams win their respective semifinals.

The two nations are already scheduled to play in the ODI World Cup in India, but could also give fans an extra treat if they reach the final.

Asian Games: Riding on Yashasvi Jaiswal's ton, India book semifinal berth, beat Nepal by 23 runs

The Indian men's and women's kabaddi teams are all set to kick off their campaigns at the 19th edition of the Asian Games; the Indian women's team will take on Chinese Taipei on 02 October 2023, meanwhile, the Indian men's team will be up against Bangladesh in their opening game on 03 October 2023.

Speaking about the makeup of the Indian men’s kabaddi Team at the Asian Games, two-time Asian Games gold medallist Ram Mehar Singh said, “The Indian men’s team is a very strong side. It’s the best team that could’ve been selected, and I am confident that we will win the Gold medal.”

Ram Mehar, the current coach of the Pro Kabaddi League Team - Gujarat Giants, further spoke about the impact of the Pro Kabaddi League on the growth of kabaddi in India, “Kabaddi has received a big boost through the Pro Kabaddi League. Earlier, when I was India captain, Kabaddi wasn’t such a popular sport, and now we are second only to cricket. Through PKL, kabaddi has grown not just in India, but all over the world."

At the Guali Cultural &amp; Sports Centre, Xiaoshan District, the Indian men’s team will be among 9 teams (Group A - India, Bangladesh, Chinese Taipei, Thailand, Japan; Group B - Iran, South Korea, Pakistan, Malaysia) battling it out for top honours, while the Indian women’s team will be one of 7 participating teams (Group A - India, Chinese Taipei, Thailand, South Korea; Group B - Iran, Bangladesh, Nepal) in the kabaddi competition.&nbsp;

Kabaddi made its debut at the Asian Games during the 1990 edition in Beijing, China and the sport has been a part of each edition since then. While the Indian men’s team has bagged 7 Gold medals and came back with Bronze in 2018, the Indian women’s kabaddi team, who made their first appearance on the mat at the Asian Games in 2010, have won 2 Gold medals and finished with Silver in Jakarta (2018).

Looking ahead to the women’s competition, Mamtha Poojari, a two-time Asian Games Gold medallist, believes that India has the pedigree to stand on top of the podium.&nbsp;

“Iran has been a dominant force in Kabaddi in recent years, but I am hopeful and confident that both the Indian teams will do better than the previous edition, and come back with the Gold,” she said.

She further added, “What also happens is when a player does well and wins a medal at this big a stage, there is an added responsibility for them in the future, and that results in further improvements for the athlete as well. There's no bigger stage than the Asian Games for our athletes.”&nbsp;

<h2>Jyothi ready to set a new benchmark</h2>

“It was really a big achievement for me (winning a silver medal at the Asian Games) as I intend to set a new benchmark. I have come a long way from where I started and inspiring the next generation of athletes will be the biggest motivation for me. Winning four medals in the last 12 months has also contributed to the positive environment,” Jyothi said in an exclusive conversation with WION’s Aditya Pimpale.

<h2>Jyothi wins silver in chaotic manner</h2>

Having finished third in the women's 100m hurdles, the Indian athlete initially won a bronze medal in the Asian Games. However, upon review, China’s crowd favourite Yanni Wu was disqualified for a false start, resulting in Jyothi bagging silver.

Speaking on the chaos before the race, Jyothi reflected on how she managed the situation and kept her composure.

“It was hard for me to handle the situation as I was also initially disqualified to compete. However, I kept my cool and concentrated on the job at hand, and gave my best shot. My coach James Hillier outlined circumstances of similar situations in the training, which helped me keep my concentration while I faced temporary disqualification."

The Visakhapatnam-born athlete was full of praise for James Hillier, Athletics Director, Reliance Foundation for his consistent efforts in developing her for the Asian Games, her nutritionists, backroom staff, Athletics Federation of India, and Sports Authority of India.

Jyothi’s coach and athletic director Hillier also spoke on how she has been preparing for the Games while the Olympics in Paris remain the primary target.

“We worked out a plan and executed it at the Asian Games, although our main target was the gold medal we are still delighted with the silver. Jyothi has great potential which she has underlined in the past and her national records have only added to the remarkable run she is enjoying. She has clocked under 13 seconds for the 100 meters in the national games indicating she will only get better from here on,” Hillier said in an exclusive conversation with WION.

The final of the men's 10000m was a double delight for India as Kartik bagged silver and Gulveer clinched bronze in the Asian Games on Saturday.

“What sets them apart is their dedication. They are always very open to inputs and suggestions. For athletes so young, their understanding of their body is very good. That is what sets them apart,” Ajith told Reliance Foundation.

Kartik won silver with a timing of 28:15.38s while Gulveer clocked 28:17.21s to claim the bronze.

Both Indians got into medal contention in the final 100 metres after three of their competitors fell in quick succession after colliding with each other.

“They have been a part of Reliance Foundation's athletics program since October last year. We have been preparing for this season. They were a part of our training centre in Ooty. A lot of credit also has to go to their Army coach Yunus Khan" said the coach.

Ajith Markose further praised both athletes and said that they improved their personal performance.

“Kartik just went all out and broke the rhythm of all the other athletes. He is someone who always likes to surge at the beginning. That’s his strength. The incredible thing about today is both of them improved their personal bests by almost half a minute" he said.

A medal was within their reach but it would have only happened with a personal best and they did that today. They delivered when it mattered the most. Surendra Singh, the current national record holder in 10000m has also guided them at the national camp and deserves a lot of credit,” he added.

Jyothi Yarraji capped a memorable year in style by winning silver in the women’s 100m hurdles event at the Asian Games in Hangzhou on Sunday, October 1. Yarraji’s silver is the maiden medal for India in the women’s 100m hurdles event at the competition and also India’s best result ever. She clocked a time of 12.91s in the final. Fellow athlete and defending champion Jinson Johnson also scripted history at the Hangzhou Asian Games by becoming only the second Indian to win a medal in multiple editions of the games in the men’s 1500m event. Jinson clocked a time of 3:39.74s in the final to win bronze.

“This was my first Asian Games. So I’m feeling very happy to win silver. There was a lot of responsibility on my shoulders. My idols are Neeraj bhaiya (Neeraj Chopra) and my coach James Hillier. He motivated me a lot before the final. The coach explained everything to me and it helped me visualise the final and then execute our plans. I want to thank him and Reliance Foundation for their unconditional support,” Yarraji said after her achievement.

She has now set her sights on doing even better in the next year. “In the upcoming season, I will look to improve on my timings further. I will work even harder. The start was tough for me because I didn’t do any wrong but I tried to put it aside. It just motivated me to do even better,” Yarraji said when asked about the drama that unfolded at the start of the race that saw the result being reviewed.

James Hillier, Athletics Director, lauded Yarraji’s poise and grit in the face of adversity on the big stage.

“It has been a rollercoaster day. We were disappointed when Jyothi didn’t qualify for the 200m final earlier today. She regathered her thoughts extremely well though to set that aside and regain her focus for the hurdles final. Ultimately, there was a lot of drama but she held her nerve and got the job done. The silver medal is a great achievement. It is a testament to the great year she has had.

“It has been a very long year and it’s very hard to prepare for a competition this late in the year. Jyothi has done really well to keep delivering. Winning a medal in the Asian Games is a huge deal for an Indian athlete. It is a very big moment for her and I’m delighted for her,” Hillier said.

Speaking after the final, Jinson said the medal was very gratifying considering the various injury setbacks he has suffered in the last four years.

“I am very happy. I didn’t compete at all at the international level in the three previous years. This is my third Asian Games medal, so it’s very special. I already had won Gold and Silver in Jakarta and now I have a bronze, so I have the complete set. I was in 4th position entering the home straight, I managed to move up to 3rd in the last 30 metres with a strong finish and I’m happy with this display,” the RF athlete said after the final.

<h2>On hardships Jinson faced</h2>

“After being at the peak of his career in 2019, Jinson suffered a debilitating ACL injury while training in the US. It was the sports science team at the Sir HN Reliance Foundation Hospital that managed to successfully treat the injury and his rehab was led by Reliance Foundation’s physiotherapist Ronak Hosabettu. It was a really tough time for Jinson as his injury had to be managed very carefully. Most of the time, he was struggling to even walk. At the Asian Athletics Championships earlier this year, he picked up a hamstring niggle before his race and couldn’t do well, finishing out of the medals.”

“In Indian Grand Prix 5, he ran under 3:40 for the 1st time since 2019. He clocked his season best of 3:39.32s there to win Gold. He gained a lot of confidence from that and has been in excellent shape since then. He carried that confidence and delivered here. This medal is a reflection of his experience. He’s an athlete who knows how to deliver on the big stage. He has always been a big stage performer. Huge salute to him considering all the adversities he has had to overcome. For a middle-distance runner past 30 to come back from an injury like this is not easy. This is a fantastic display from him.

&nbsp;“The heats are always usually slower. Jinson’s heat was slow but he knew all he needed was a top six finish, so he held his position very well. In the heat, the strategy was to only qualify for the final and expend as little energy as possible.”

RF athletes have won a total of seven medals in Huangzhou so far. Apart from Jinson and Jyothi, Kartik Kumar and Gulveer Singh notched an unprecedented 2-3 finish in the men's 10000m event. Dhruv Kapila was also part of the men's team in badminton, who registered their best ever finish by winning silver. Teen phenom Palak Gulia was the first RF athlete to medal at this edition, winning gold in the women's 10m air pistol event as well as a silver in the women's 10m air pistol team event.

Asian Games: Jyothi Yarraji bags historic silver; Jinson Johnson completes full medal set

In what was billed as a close contest turned into a lopsided affair, as India fired a whopping 10 goals past a hapless Pakistani defence to register its biggest-ever win over their traditional rivals in a Pool A match of the Asian Games on Saturday.

The gobsmackingly surreal match saw India running riot over their arch-rivals to register a thumping 10-2 victory.

Leading from the front, India skipper Harmanpreet Singh scored four goals and Varun Kumar fired a brace to virtually seal the contest.

Four quick goals from the Indians broke the back of the Pakistani defence and literally opened the flood gates.

The biggest-ever win over their arch-rivals also saw India storm into the semi-finals.

Mandeep Singh scored India's first goal in the 8th minute of the 1st quarter. Pakistan earned its first penalty corner in the 10th minute.

Skipper Harmanpreet scored India's second goal with a penalty stroke in the 11th minute. While Pakistan went into an all-out attack in opening quarter, India came away as the better of the two sides at the end of it with a 2-0 lead.

India introduced goalkeeper PR Sreejesh for the 2nd quarter.

Harmanpreet logged a brace in the 3rd quarter as India extended their lead to 3-0. Moments before the half-time whistle, India earned 4th goal following a referral.

India scored their 5th, with Harmanpreet bringing up a hat-trick in the 2nd half. The Indian captain scored his fourth with a monster drag flick, extending India's lead to 6-0 in the 34th minute.

With a spring in their steps, India stepped up, switched&nbsp;gears and made further forays into the Pakistani deep defence. Abdul Rehman, however, earned Pakistan a penalty corner against the run of play as he dodged past three Indian defenders, converting defence into attack with subtle stick work.

Pakistan scored their first as Sufiyan Khan found the target in the 38th minute of the one-sided encounter.

However, in a spectacular counter-attacking effort thereafter, Varun Kumar sprinted past Pakistani defenders to score a goal through a deflection in the 41st minute. Shamsher's goal took India's tally to 8 in the 46th minute.

In the 49th minute, Lalit Upadhyay, with an assist from Jarmanpreet Singh, scored India's ninth goal. Varun fired India's tenth in the 53rd minute of the game.

India will face off against Bangladesh in the last-four clash on Monday.

India’s men’s squash team scripted history on Saturday, September 30 as they clinched a gold medal in the event in a thrilling contest against Pakistan’s Noor Zaman. <h2>India beat Pakistan in thriller</h2>

It was not the best start for India as Pakistan dominated the first match in the best-of-three finals with Mahesh Mangaonkar losing in straight games against Nasir Iqbal. The dominant Pakistan star won 11-8, 11-3, 11-2 to rally past Mangaonkar in a one-sided contest. Mangaonkar was earlier beaten 6-11, 11-13, 11-9, 8-11 by Iqbal in the group stage.

India then had a must-win situation as veteran Saurav Ghosal stepped in at the crucial moment. He would conquer the contest 11-5, 11-1, 11-3 to get India back in the gold medal contest. The win came in next to no time as Saurav showcased his experience at the court. Sourav had earlier beaten Muhammad Asim 11-3, 11-5, 11-1 in the group stage meeting and showed no signs of slowing down.

With the best of the three finals leveled at 1-1, both India and Pakistan had their eyes on the gold with Abhay Singh and Noor Zaman playing in a decisive contest. Having lost to Noor Zaman in the group stage of the Asian Games earlier, Abhay had a score to settle with the Pakistan player. The Indian acer started on the front foot as he pocketed the first game 11-7 assuring early dominance.

Noor would then come back to win the second game 11-9 in a tight finish while he was the dominant force in the third. Despite being level at 7-7, the Pakistani player won four consecutive points in the third game to win and give Pakistan a 2-1 lead in the decisive final contest. With the gold medal slipping away, Abhay would then show high-level commitment to win the fourth game 11-9, despite trailing 7-9 at one stage. Pakistan needed just two points to win the gold medal at that point.

With the match reaching anticlimax, Abhay and Noor went toe-to-toe in the final game to decide the gold medal. However, the Indian star lost concentration at 8-8 as Noor would win the next two points to have two match points. An Afghan boxer has been provisionally suspended for failing a doping test at the Asian Games, the International Testing Agency (ITA) said, the first reported drugs case at the event. The 37-year-old Mohammad Khaibar Nooristani, who was defeated on Monday in the preliminary rounds of the 71kg weight class in Hangzhou, tested positive for two banned substances, the ITA said.

Both were anabolic steroids. The boxer was tested four days before his bout but it takes time for positive results to come through. "The sample was collected by the ITA at the Asian Games Hangzhou during an out-of-competition anti-doping control performed on September 21, 2023," the body said Thursday. "The athlete has been informed of the case and has been provisionally suspended with immediate effect. He has the right to request the analysis of the B-sample."

In a blockbuster morning for India on day six of the ongoing Asian Games in Hangzhou, China, young Indian shooters Palak Gulia and Esha Singh shone in the women’s 10m air pistol individual event, winning gold and silver medals, respectively.

Palak, all of 17, took up shooting after the Jakarta Asiad. She left everyone in awe with her calm and composed approach, jumping straight to the top of the board during the final eight on Friday (Sep 29) morning.

She broke an Asian Games record in her quest to bag an individual gold medal, securing 242.1 points.

Another Indian, Esha Singh, stood second on the standings with 239.7 points, 2.6 points behind the winner, with Pakistan's Kishmala Talat winning the bronze medal, recording 218.2 points.&nbsp;

In other news, India Roshibina Devi Naorem bagged a silver medal for India in the women's 60 kg Wushu at the Asian Games on Friday.

She missed a chance to win gold after losing in the final to her Chinese opponent Xiaowei Wu 2-0.

However, Roshibina has upgraded the colour of her medal from bronze, which she won in the 2018 Jakarta Asian Games.

Nepal batsman Kushal Malla, at the ongoing Asian Games in China, has created history by scoring the fastest hundred in a T20I match. Malla&nbsp;scored the century off just 34 balls, breaking the previous record of 35-ball 100 held jointly by India's Rohit Sharma and South Africa's David Miller as well as Czech Republic's Sudesh Wickramasekara.

Both Rohit and Miller had scored the 35-ball century in 2017. While the Indian skipper had hit Sri Lankan bowlers to cleaners in December 2017 in Indore, Miller's fury was faced by Bangladesh bowlers in October 2017 in Potchefstroom.

Malla remained not out on 137 off just 50 balls as Nepal thrashed Mongolia on September 27 all over the park for the highest score ever in a T20I by a team. Malla&nbsp;hit 12 sixes and eight fours in his breathtaking innings as Nepal scored 314/3 in 20 overs - the first time 300 was crossed in a 20-over match.

Apart from Malla, his teammate Dipendra Singh Airee also had a field day, scoring the fastest fifty in T20Is. Airee scored his fifty off just nine balls - breaking Indian batsman Yuvraj Singh's record of 12-ball fifty scored in the 2007 T20I World Cup against England when he had hit Stuart Broad for six sixes in an over. Airee, like Malla, also remained not out, scoring 52 off just 10 balls.

The Asian Cricket Council (ACC), on its official X handle, also posted a congratulatory message for the Nepalese team.

Thus, it is a huge achievement for Indian cricket as the women's team have created history in the Asian Games.

After the win, Mandhana became emotional and recalled javelin star Neeraj Chopra's Tokyo 2020 moment -- where&nbsp;he won gold (which became India’s first-ever Olympic medal in athletics).&nbsp;

India's start was a modest one after winning the toss with Shafali Varma getting out cheaply in the fourth over for a team total of 16 runs. Smriti Mandhana (46) Jemimah Rodrigues (42) added 73 runs for the second wicket to put India's innings on track on a difficult pitch. After Mandhana's fall in the 15th over, Indian innings lost a bit of steam as they lost quick wickets with four in last four overs.

The Women in Blue finally managed 116/7 in their 20 overs as no other batter apart from Mandhana and Rodrigues could score in double figures. For Sri Lanka, Udeshika Prabodhani, Sugandika Kumari and Inoka Ranaweera took two wickets each.

Chasing 117, Sri Lanka scored 12 off the first over but they met Titas Sadhu in the third over who bowled a double-wicket maiden to dent their chase. Sadhu took one more wicket in her next over and gave away just one run. Hasini Perera and Nilakshi de Silva then tried to stable the innings with a 36-run partnership but Pooja Vastrakar got Perera out.

Oshadi Ranasinghe then held one hand as she and de Silva wiped off another 28 runs of the target as Sri Lanka needed 38 runs off last four overs. Indian bowlers then kept the pressure on and took three more wickets to leave Sri Lankan chase in tatters.

The Island nation could only manage 97 runs in the end for the loss of eight wickets in 20 overs as India won the game and the gold.

South Korean Prime Minister Han Duck-soo met with Chinese President Xi Jinping on the sidelines of the Asian Games, on Saturday (September 23), in the city of Hangzhou, as per Yonhap news agency reports.

The meeting between the two leaders lasted for about 22 minutes and was held before the opening ceremony of the event, said the South Korean PM's office.

Xi after his meeting with Han said that he will seriously consider visiting South Korea, as a part of efforts to back peace and security on the Korean Peninsula.

"This means that President Xi knows it is his turn to visit South Korea," the official said on condition of anonymity, adding that Xi's visit has "long been delayed," according to Yonhap news agency.

Xi, also told South Korean Prime Minister Han Duck-soo that China is willing to work in order to promote a strategic partnership between the two countries.

The commitment to cooperation between the two countries came ahead of trilateral talks scheduled in Seoul on Tuesday (September 26) involving senior officials from China, Japan and South Korea. The talks are aimed at paving the way for the first summit between the three countries in four years.

The meeting will bring South Korean Deputy Foreign Minister Chung Byung-won; Takehiro Funakoshi, Japan's senior deputy foreign minister; and Nong Rong, China's assistant minister of foreign affairs all together.

"We will make efforts to ensure that the summit can be held promptly, starting with the high-level meeting next week and proceeding through the foreign ministerial conference," Han was quoted by First Vice Foreign Minister Chang Ho-jin as saying.

The South Korean prime minister asked the Chinese president for his country's backing in hosting the 2030 World Expo in the city of Busan, and reportedly Xi said that Beijing would "seriously consider" Seoul's request.

This meeting by both countries also took place against the backdrop of a recent summit between North Korean leader Kim Jon Un and Russian President Vladimir Putin.

"Han explained our side's bold ideas and recent developments related to the Korean Peninsula situation, and urged China to continue playing a constructive role," Chang said.

This also marks the very first visit by a South Korean Prime Minister to China in over 4 years.

"I hope to cultivate a healthy and mature relationship between South Korea and China, grounded in mutual respect, mutual benefit and common interests," Han was quoted by the Prime Minister's Office as saying.

He further said that the talks between Seoul and Beijing indicated towards their commitment to advancing their relations to the next level amidst the threats by North Korea.

"Both countries are not only grappling with heightened regional tensions due to North Korea's persistent provocations but also facing global challenges, such as economic uncertainty and disruptions in supply chains," Han said.
