Team India's star batter Shikhar Dhawan has opened up on his absence from the T20I squad despite his consistent performances with the bat. “I honestly don’t know about it, maybe it could be the reason. I don’t want to go deep about it I have not played T20 for India for a long time now, I don’t know where I see myself. I look to make the most out of every opportunity I am getting. Be it IPL, domestic cricket, or ODI, I just want to do well, and that is the only thing under my control,” Dhawan told the Indian Express.

While he is no more part of India's T20I plans, Dhawan has also been not in the scheme of things of India in Tests. The prolific left-hander played his last Test match in September 2018 and has not managed to make a comeback amid the rise of youngsters like Shubman Gill, Mayank Agarwal and KL Rahul among others.

Dhawan currently only plays ODI cricket for India and is focused on enjoying what he has on his plate rather than focusing on the formats which he has been discarded from.&nbsp;“I really enjoy playing ODI cricket. While India are ticking a lot of boxes, they do have some issues to sort out while finalising their T20 WC squad. Along with problems of plenty, India also need Virat Kohli to return to form at the earliest. The former Indian skipper has looked out of sorts for long and even ended the England tour without a single half-century across formats. His century-drought also continues since 2019 whereas his similar sort of dismissals -- chasing the ball on the fourth or fifth-stump line -- have led to his criticism.

A lot has been said and written about Kohli's batting slot. Should India open with Kohli and Rohit or is the former best suited at his preferred slot, i.e. No. 3? Or, can he be demoted? The Asian Cricket Council (ACC) on Tuesday (August 02) announced the complete schedule of the upcoming Asia Cup 2022 which will be hosted by the UAE this year. The tournament which is all set to be played in T20 format this year will get underway on August 27 with Sri Lanka taking on Afghanistan in the opening game. The marquee clash between India and Pakistan will be played next in Dubai on August 28.

It is set to be a blockbuster clash between the two arch-rivals, who have met only in major ICC competitions since 2013. Despite sharing one of the greatest rivalries in cricket history, India and Pakistan have not played bilateral cricket against each other for almost a decade owing to political tension between the two countries.

The full schedule of the tournament was shared by Asian Cricket Council chief Jay Shah on social media. A total of six teams will be part of the tournament this year with India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Afghanistan and Sri Lanka&nbsp;the five confirmed teams.
