Apple has launched its most affordable MacBook yet, introducing a new model called MacBook Neo. The laptop starts at Rs 69,900 in India, making it the lowest-priced MacBook Apple has ever released. For more than a decade, the entry-level MacBook lineup started with the MacBook Air, which currently begins at around Rs 1,19,900 in India. The new MacBook Neo significantly lowers that entry point. The launch suggests Apple is trying to expand its presence in classrooms and households where lower-cost Windows laptops and Chromebooks have traditionally dominated.

MacBook Neo specifications and key features

MacBook Neo specifications and key features
Despite its lower price, Apple has kept many premium design elements in the MacBook Neo. The laptop features a 13-inch Liquid Retina display with a resolution of 2408 × 1506 pixels and 500 nits peak brightness. However, it does not include the high-refresh-rate ProMotion display available on more expensive MacBook models. The device comes with a fanless design and a recycled aluminium enclosure, similar to the MacBook Air.Apple has also introduced new colour options for the model, including Indigo, Citrus and Blush, along with the traditional Silver finish.
Powered by iPhone chip instead of M-series processor
One of the biggest changes in the MacBook Neo is the processor.Instead of the usual M-series chip used in MacBook Air and MacBook Pro, the laptop runs on the A18 Pro chip the same processor used in the iPhone 16 Pro. The chip includes:6-core CPU (2 performance cores and 4 efficiency cores)5-core GPU8GB RAMStorage options up to 512GB Apple says the device can deliver up to 16 hours of video streaming on a single charge using its 36.5 Wh battery. The laptop ships with a 20W charger in the box.
Where Apple reduced costs
To reach the lower price point, Apple made several adjustments compared with the MacBook Air.The MacBook Neo includes:A non-backlit keyboardTwo USB-C ports instead of MagSafe chargingAn HD camera instead of the newer 12MP webcamTwo speakers, compared with four on MacBook AirTouch ID is also limited to the higher storage model. The base model starts with 256GB storage, while the higher-end version offers 512GB storage.
MacBook Neo price and availability in India
The MacBook Neo price in India starts at Rs 69,900 for the 256GB model. The 512GB version costs Rs 79,900.Apple said the laptop is available for pre-order starting today through its official website and authorised retailers.Sales are scheduled to begin on March 11, 2026. The MacBook Neo marks a new direction for Apple’s laptop lineup. By lowering the price barrier, the company appears to be targeting students, first-time laptop buyers and education institutions. Industry analysts have long said Apple faces strong competition in this segment from Windows laptops made by companies such as HP, Asus and Chromebook devices. With the Neo, Apple is attempting to enter that market while still maintaining its premium design and ecosystem.

Apple is under the spotlight as a global memory chip shortage, driven by booming demand for artificial intelligence infrastructure, begins to affect the smartphone industry. A global shortage of memory chips, especially dram, the type used in smartphones, is tightening supply and sending component prices higher.

AI Boom: Memory Prices Rise, Raising Costs for Phones and Devices

Apple has petitioned the Delhi High Court to block India's Competition Commission (CCI) from demanding its global financial records amid an antitrust probe into App Store practices, fearing penalties up to $38 billion based on worldwide turnover.

Apple is preparing a major overhaul of Siri, aiming to turn the voice assistant into the company’s first full artificial intelligence chatbot later this year. The move will push Apple directly into the generative AI race dominated by OpenAI’s ChatGPT and Google’s Gemini. According to people familiar with the plan, the new chatbot is code-named Campos and will be deeply integrated into Apple’s operating systems across the iPhone, iPad and Mac. Users will activate it the same way they use Siri today, by saying “Siri” or holding the side button on their device.
What makes the new Siri different
The new chatbot will go far beyond the current version of Siri, which lacks smooth back-and-forth conversation and struggles with complex tasks. Unlike today’s assistant, Campos will offer a chat-style experience, similar to ChatGPT and Gemini, with both voice and typing options.Apple plans to first release a smaller Siri upgrade with iOS 26.4 in the coming months. This update will keep the existing Siri interface but add features announced in 2024, including analysing on-screen content, searching the web more effectively and using personal data to complete tasks. The full chatbot experience will arrive later in the year. Apple is expected to preview Campos at its Worldwide Developers Conference in June, with a public release likely in September.
How Campos will work across Apple devices
As per media reports, campos will be built into iOS 27, iPadOS 27 and macOS 27. Rather than being a separate app, the chatbot will be woven into the system, just like Siri is today. Apple is also testing it internally as a standalone app, but there are no plans to release that version to users. The chatbot will be able to search the web, summarise information, generate images, analyse files and create content. It will also understand what is on the user’s screen and take actions, such as making calls, setting timers, opening apps or adjusting settings.Apple plans to integrate the chatbot across core apps like Mail, Photos, Music, Podcasts, TV and even Xcode. For example, users could ask Siri to find a specific photo based on a description and edit it, or draft an email using calendar details already on the device.
Why Apple is changing its AI strategy
Apple has long avoided launching a standalone chatbot, arguing that users prefer AI built directly into features. Senior executives had previously said they did not want to push users into separate chat experiences. However, competition has forced a rethink. Samsung, Google and several Chinese smartphone makers already offer deep conversational AI inside their devices. ChatGPT crossed 800 million weekly active users in October, highlighting how quickly chat-based AI has become mainstream.Apple has also faced pressure after a slow and uneven rollout of its Apple Intelligence features in 2024. Turning Siri into a chatbot is now seen as central to Apple’s AI recovery plan.
Google’s role and privacy limits
Although Apple is designing the interface, the chatbot will rely heavily on AI models developed by Google’s Gemini team. Apple is reportedly paying Google around $1 billion a year for access to these models. The upcoming chatbot will run on a more advanced system than the one powering the earlier Siri update.Unlike ChatGPT, Apple is considering strict limits on how much the chatbot can remember about users. The company is discussing tighter controls to protect privacy, a long-standing focus for Apple.Apple has also designed Campos so that its AI models can be replaced in the future, giving the company flexibility to move away from Google if needed.
A turning point for Siri
The chatbot shift follows internal leadership changes at Apple, with software chief Craig Federighi taking greater control of AI strategy after longtime AI head John Giannandrea stepped aside. Apple has also hired senior AI talent from Google’s Gemini team.If successful, Campos could mark the biggest change to Siri since its launch more than a decade ago, transforming it from a basic voice assistant into a central AI layer across Apple devices.

Apple plans to transform Siri into a full AI chatbot later this year, code-named Campos. Integrated across iPhone, iPad and Mac, it will offer ChatGPT-like conversations, screen awareness and deep app control, marking Apple’s biggest AI shift yet.

Apple is expected to launch its first-ever foldable iPhone later this year, and new leaks suggest the device could feature a Liquid Metal hinge. If true, this would mark a major design shift for Apple, especially as the hinge is one of the most critical parts of any foldable phone. As per the leak shared by user “yeux1122” on the Korean platform Naver, Apple plans to use Liquid Metal in the hinge mechanism of the foldable iPhone. While the hinge may use Liquid Metal, the main body of the device is expected to be made from titanium.Apple has not officially confirmed the device or its materials, but the leak has drawn attention because Liquid Metal has long been linked to Apple’s foldable patents.
Liquid Metal
Liquidmetal, also known as Liquid Metal, is an amorphous metal alloy developed at the California Institute of Technology. Unlike traditional metals such as steel or aluminium, Liquid Metal does not have a crystalline structure. This makes it stronger, more resistant to bending and better suited to handle repeated mechanical stress.Because of these properties, Liquid Metal is especially useful in parts that move frequently, such as hinges. In foldable phones, the hinge is often the weakest point, as it must open and close thousands of times without wearing out or becoming loose.Liquid Metal is lighter than stainless steel but still very tough. This could help Apple keep the foldable iPhone slim while also improving long-term durability.
Why Apple may choose Liquid Metal for the foldable iPhone
Leaks suggest Apple wants its first foldable iPhone to be very thin. Reports claim the device could measure under 5.6 mm when unfolded. Achieving this requires a hinge that is both strong and compact.Using Liquid Metal could allow Apple to create a thinner hinge without sacrificing strength. Analysts note that traditional materials could add extra weight or thickness, which Apple usually avoids in its designs.Apple has also filed several patents related to Liquid Metal hinges and moving parts for foldable devices. These patents focus on fatigue resistance and spring-like movement, which are key requirements for a foldable phone hinge.
Apple’s past work with Liquid Metal
Apple’s interest in Liquid Metal is not new. In 2010, the company signed a deal with Liquidmetal Technologies, securing a worldwide and exclusive licence to use the material in consumer electronics. So far, Apple has only used Liquid Metal in small components, such as the SIM ejector tool. Using it in a major structural part like a hinge would be Apple’s biggest application of the material to date, if the leak proves accurate.
Foldable iPhone: What else is expected
According to multiple leaks, the foldable iPhone is likely to feature a book-style design. It may come with a 5.5-inch outer display and a larger 7.8-inch inner screen. Both panels are expected to be OLED displays with high refresh rates.Reports also suggest Apple may drop Face ID on this device and instead use a side-mounted Touch ID sensor. Internally, the foldable iPhone could run on Apple’s upcoming A20 Pro chip, which is expected to offer performance gains over the A19 Pro.

Apple’s first foldable iPhone is tipped to feature a Liquid Metal hinge and titanium body, promising a slimmer and more durable design. Leaks suggest a book-style fold, OLED displays, Touch ID, and Apple’s upcoming A-series chip, marking a major shift in iPhone design.

Apple, known as a symbol of stability in silicon valley, is now seeing its most dramatic staff shake-up in decades, with the departure of senior executives and key engineers. The chiefs of Apple's ai and interface design departments resigned within the last week. Soon after, the company revealed that the chief of government affairs, and the general counsel were departing. Those executives were reporting directly to Tim Cook, the company's chief executive officer. That underscores the unprecedented degree of executive churn at apple. The exits also come on the heels of news of a transition right at the top. Reports have shown the succession planning for Tim Cook's potential retirement, with some suggesting for it to come as early as 2026.

Google has surprised the tech world by announcing that its new Pixel 10 smartphones can now share photos and files with iPhones using Apple’s AirDrop. Google revealed this week, marks one of the rare moments when an Android device can interact directly with one of Apple’s most tightly controlled features. As per the to Google’s official announcement on the Android blog, the update allows the company’s Quick Share tool to work with AirDrop, enabling simple file transfers between iPhones and Android devices for the first time. The feature is rolling out to the Google Pixel 10 family and will expand to more Android phones over time.

Sharing moments shouldn’t depend on the phone you have. Starting today with the Pixel 10 family, Quick Share now works with AirDrop, making secure file transfers between Android phones and iPhones more seamless. This builds on our commitment to cross-OS compatibility to bridge… pic.twitter.com/iNdZfjCYQ7— Android (@Android) November 20, 2025

What AirDrop is and why this move matters
AirDrop has long been one of Apple’s strongest ecosystem features. The protocol uses Bluetooth and peer-to-peer Wi-Fi to let users send photos, videos, text, and files instantly between devices. These transfers are encrypted and do not require internet access or a Wi-Fi router and it’s very fast. Because it is a proprietary system, Apple has never opened the protocol to other device makers. This is one reason Apple users often stay within what analysts call the company’s “walled garden”. Until now, Android users could not use AirDrop, and Apple devices could not receive files sent through Android’s Quick Share. Google has now developed a way to bridge this gap, even though Apple did not collaborate on the feature. This makes the new compatibility one of the most significant cross-platform improvements seen in consumer tech in recent years.
How Google made Quick Share work with AirDrop
In its blog published, Google said it has redesigned Quick Share so it can communicate using the AirDrop protocol, while keeping privacy and security as the top priority. According to the company, the system was tested by independent security experts, and file transfers continue to use encryption. The aim, Google says, is to make sharing easier “regardless of the device you have”. The company also linked the change to its broader efforts to improve communication between Android and iOS. This includes support for RCS messaging, unknown tracker alerts, and other cross-platform features requested by users.
What it means for Android and iPhone users
The update means users can now send files between Android and iPhone much like they already do inside the Apple ecosystem. This includes sharing photos with friends, sending documents quickly at work, or exchanging videos without needing messaging apps or cloud services. Google says the feature is live on Pixel 10 and will be expanded “soon” to more Android devices. The company also posted a demonstration showing the feature working on the Pixel 10 Pro.

Google has announced that Pixel 10 the first Android phones able to share files directly with iPhones using Apple’s AirDrop protocol. The new Quick Share upgrade finally bridges the long-closed gap between Android and iOS, but there’s more behind this rare cross-platform move.

Apple and WhatsApp have vowed to continue warning users if their phones are targeted by government spyware, even in the US. This comes as spyware makers like Paragon Solutions and NSO Group seek deeper access to the American market.

Paragon already secured a deal with US immigration authorities, while NSO Group appointed former US Ambassador David Friedman as executive chairman of its holding company. Both companies’ spyware can hack phones without the user knowing, posing risks to journalists, business leaders, and human rights activists.
