Maulana Khalid Rasheed Farangi Mahli, a prominent member of the All India Muslim Personal Law Board, expressed optimism about achieving a just resolution for the historic mosque.

Highlighting the mosque's six-century history as a place of Muslim worship, he also emphasised the broader application of the Places of Worship Act to protect religious sites across the nation. While the court ruling prohibits excavation at the site, the Supreme Court remains an option for seeking further relief.

"It has come to the notice of the UGC that a number of institutions are offering degrees in contrary to the provisions of the UGC Act. Degrees awarded by such universities shall neither be recognised nor valid for higher education or employment purpose. These universities are not empowered to confer any degree," UGC secretary Manish Joshi said in a statement.

The Purchasing Management Index (PMI) data issued on Thursday revealed that India’s major services sector maintained its strong performance in July, as total sales increased at the fastest rate since June 2010, as per a report in the Economic Times.

S&amp;P Global’s index for India's services sector increased from 58.5 in June to&nbsp;62.3 in July. Analysts from Reuters had predicted a decline to 58.0. For two years, the services PMI for India has been above the 50-point threshold that separates growth from expansion.

Although the manufacturing sector PMI for India fell to 57.7 in July, the overall S&amp;P Global India Composite PMI Output Index reached a 13-year high of 61.9.

“The resilience of the service sector underscores its vital role in fuelling India's economy, with the PMI results for July so far pointing to a notable contribution from the sector to overall GDP for the second fiscal quarter,” the Economic Times quoted Pollyanna De Lima, the economics director at S&amp;P Global Market Intelligence, as saying.

With the overall demand remaining strong, the new-business sub-index indicated that the demand growth in July was at its highest since June 2010.&nbsp;The release further said that Bangladesh, Nepal, Sri Lanka and the UAE were key sources of international growth.

Operating costs increased at their quickest rate since June 2022, and businesses passed some of that cost on to consumers, although comparatively slower than in the previous three months due to their careful price setting.

De Lima was quoted as saying that&nbsp;competitive advantage continued to support demand for Indian services, as rise in output costs remained modest compared to other countries.&nbsp;

The controversy, originally centred around the usage of Nandini brand ghee (clarified butter), in the revered Tirupati temple offering, has now ignited a clash of narratives, as reported by PTI.

The escalation began when officials from the Tirumala Temple Devasthanams (TTD) indicated that Nandini ghee had been used in Tirupati laddus for just one year out of the past two decades.

However, the Karnataka Milk Federation (KMF) swiftly contradicted this claim, stating that they had never specified the duration of their ghee supply to the temple.

References to KMF's alleged non-supply of Nandini ghee to the Tirumala Venkateswara Temple in Andhra Pradesh quickly attracted the attention of Karnataka's ruling Congress party and provided ammunition for the opposition BJP to ramp up the heat.

Nalin Kumar Kateel, a prominent BJP leader, accused the Karnataka Congress government of deliberately halting the ghee supply as part of their "policy of indifference towards temples, and Hindu beliefs and devotion."

The BJP's claims added fuel to the controversy, shifting the focus onto the religious sentiments involved.

To counter the allegations, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah clarified that the suspension of Nandini ghee supply for Tirupati laddus had occurred during the tenure of the previous BJP government, effectively defusing the BJP's argument. This revelation introduced a twist in the timeline of events, demonstrating the complexity of the issue.

KMF Chairman Bheema Naik highlighted that the competitive bidding process for supply contracts had led to the selection of another supplier at a lower rate than KMF's bid.

He emphasised the high quality of Nandini ghee and expressed confidence in its superiority. However, the Tirumala Temple authorities contested KMF's claims, asserting that their ghee had been supplied only once in the past two decades, and that too for a relatively insignificant portion of their requirement.

As the controversy deepened, KMF officials anonymously denied making any definitive claims about the duration of their ghee supply to the temple. While KMF's Managing Director and CEO, MK Jagdish, confirmed their last supply in 2021-22, he reiterated their interest in re-establishing a connection with the TTD and resolving the pricing concerns.

The world’s largest manufacturer of smartphones recently received permits to bring Chinese suppliers to India after locating local joint-venture (JV) partners.
