<p>A recent report titled "How India Travels," jointly released by Booking.com and McKinsey &amp; Company, reveals a surge in India's travel sector. The report predicts that Indian travellers will substantially boost their spending in the coming years, positioning India as the fourth-largest global spender in travel by 2030, with an estimated expenditure of $410 billion.</p>

<p>This projection represents a 173 per cent increase from 2019 when Indian travellers collectively spent $150 billion, ranking India as the sixth largest global spender. In 2022, Indian travellers played a pivotal role in the recovery of the tourism industry, surpassing Asia by reaching 78 per cent of 2019 levels, while the continent achieved only 52 per cent. Furthermore, the report anticipates that the number of trips taken by Indian travellers will increase from 2.3 billion in 2019 to an impressive 5 billion in 2030.</p>

<p>As per the report, Indian travellers are known for their spontaneity when it comes to trip planning, with an average planning window of just 29 days, a shorter timeframe than even Japan (57 days) and the USA (63 days). Moreover, culinary convenience holds a significant place in their travel habits, with over 80 per cent of Indian travellers valuing the availability of restaurant and room service options during their stays, reflecting a desire for a hassle-free and enjoyable dining experience while on the road, making it a crucial factor in travel decisions.</p>

<p>In addition to their spontaneity, Indian travellers are showing a growing preference for alternative accommodation options such as hostels, campsites, vacation rentals, and chalets. They seek unique and diverse lodging experiences that go beyond traditional hotel stays, emphasising a desire for varied and unconventional travel experiences.</p>

<p>Vishal, one of the returnees, reportedly said,&nbsp;“I am coming from Haifa, Israel. We had to follow the safety protocols given by the university. The Indian government has helped us a lot, we are thankful to the embassy…”</p>

The operation involved the active participation of the Indian Navy's surface and aerial assets, as the Maritime force was entrusted with capturing and transmitting the mission progress footage and recovering the adrift crew module from the Bay of Bengal and returning it safely to the nearest port, Chennai. Throughout the process of descent of the crew module, its phased parachute deployment, splashdown and recovery operations, Indian Navy's air assets provided continuous live coverage. WION has learnt that the Indian Navy deployed indigenous 'Spotter drones' and the US-origin General Atomics MQ-9B Sea Guardian remotely piloted aircraft as part of this operation.</p>

<p>The TV-D1 test was meant to prove how a crew module (structure carrying the astronauts) could be ejected from a flying rocket, if and when a mishap took place mid-flight. This is similar to how a fighter pilot pulls the ejection handle beneath the seat, in order to bailout from an aircraft that was facing grave malfunction or an imminent crash. Given the thousands of moving parts in a rocket and the very high speeds and altitudes it travels at, errors can build up anytime and rapidly cause a mishap. Therefore, it is crucial to be able to save the astronauts from any imminent catastrophe and at various flight conditions. Saturday's test was about ejecting the crew module, when the rocket was flying at an altitude of 11.9km&nbsp;and a speed of Mach 1.2 (1481kmph).&nbsp;In this mission, the parachutes began to deploy in a phased manner, the crew module began its descent from 16.8km&nbsp;(more than 55,000 feet).&nbsp;</p>

<p>Until five minutes into the mission, the visuals of the parachute deployment and gradual descent were captured by the on-board cameras mounted atop the crew module. However, five minutes into the mission, when the drogue parachutes were released and the main parachutes were deployed, ISRO's live stream began to show never-seen-before infrared visuals of the crew module. The crew module was at an altitude of around 2.5km&nbsp;at that time and the live video was being captured from well above and afar from the crew module. This close monitoring and live-streaming is learnt to have been carried out by the Navy's MQ-9B Sea Guardian Drone, two of which have been leased from the American firm General Atomics. As the events unfolded off the coast of Sriharikota, the live footage was broadcast at the Mission Control Centre of the spaceport.</p>

<p>The MQ-9B Sea Guardian is a remotely piloted aircraft that operates via satellite link. According to General Atomics, this highly sophisticated drone can deliver&nbsp;real-time situational awareness anywhere in the maritime domain, during day or night conditions. Sea Guardian not only integrates the most advanced maritime intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR) capabilities, but it is also the first remotely piloted aircraft system in its class to enable real-time search and patrol above and below the ocean's surface. The real-time aerial videos streamed by ISRO also show how the aerial platform was flying amid the clouds, while continuously tracking the descent path of the crew module.&nbsp;</p>

<p>In addition to this, there were indigenous hexa-copter 'Spotter drones' that were operating from the decks of the Navy ships, that was part of this operation. "These drones have been built in our Pune facility, with the support of the Indian Navy and nearly 100 of them operate with various classes of ships. They have the unique capability of taking-off and landing vertically, even from a warship that moving at 35kmph. Powered by lithium-ion batteries, these Spotter drones have a flight endurance of 90-120minutes and can operate up to heights of 1kilometre" Captain Nikunj Parashar, Managing Director of&nbsp;Sagar Defence Engineering, the firm that builds the Spotter drones, told WION. He added that their drones carried out the real-time imaging and live streaming of the low altitude phase of the mission and recovery operation of the crew module.</p>

<p>Describing their firm as an innovative engineering company, he lists out that they have built India's first weaponized unmanned surface boats and that they are also developing cargo hauling drones (150kg payload category) for the Indian Navy. Queried about the capability of their drones in harsh maritime environment and weather conditions, Captain Parashar told WION that they have been specifically designed for the harsh challenges that the drones encounter at the altitudes of up to one kilometre.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Notably, this entire operation at sea was carried out on Saturday, when there was a well-marked low pressure area developing into a depression, in the South east Bay of Bengal.&nbsp;</p>

Saturday's test was about ejecting the crew module, when the rocket was flying at an altitude of 11.9km and a speed of Mach 1.2 (1481kmph). In this mission, the parachutes began to deploy in a phased manner, the crew module began its descent from 16.8km (more than 55,000 feet). Until five minutes into the mission, the visuals of the parachute deployment and gradual descent were captured by the on-board cameras mounted atop the crew module. However, five minutes into the mission, when the drogue parachutes were released and the main parachutes were deployed, ISRO's live stream began to show never-seen-before infrared visuals of the crew module. The crew module was at an altitude of around 2.5km at that time and the live video was being captured from well above and afar from the crew module. This close monitoring and live-streaming is learnt to have been carried out by the Navy's MQ-9B Sea Guardian Drone, two of which have been leased from the American firm General Atomics. As the events unfolded off the coast of Sriharikota, the live footage was broadcast at the Mission Control Centre of the spaceport. The MQ-9B Sea Guardian is a remotely piloted aircraft that operates via satellite link. According to General Atomics, this highly sophisticated drone can deliver real-time situational awareness anywhere in the maritime domain, during day or night conditions. Sea Guardian not only integrates the most advanced maritime intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR) capabilities, but it is also the first remotely piloted aircraft system in its class to enable real-time search and patrol above and below the ocean's surface. The real-time aerial videos streamed by ISRO also show how the aerial platform was flying amid the clouds, while continuously tracking the descent path of the crew module. Recently, Canada withdrew its 41 diplomats from India after Ottawa was asked by New Delhi to cut down its diplomatic presence following a row over Nijjar's killing. On Friday, Canada stated that it was suspending in-person operations at consulates in various cities of India for some time and said that there could be delays in visa processing.<br />

Citing the Vienna Convention, Britain's Foreign Office said, "The unilateral removal of the privileges and immunities that provide for the safety and security of diplomats is not consistent with the principles or the effective functioning of the Vienna Convention."</p>

<h2><strong>Trudeau says 'India violating Vienna Convention'</strong></h2>

<p>Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said that the decision of India to revoke diplomatic immunity to 41 Canadian diplomats in India was a “violation of the Vienna Convention governing diplomacy” and added that it would impact “millions of Canadians who trace their origins to the Indian subcontinent.”</p>

<p>While addressing an event in the town of Brampton in the Greater Toronto Area or GTA on Friday (Oct 20), Trudeau stated, “The actions that the Government of India took this week are themselves contrary to international law. The Government of India decided to unilaterally revoke the diplomatic immunity of 40 Canadian diplomats in India. This is a violation of the Vienna Convention governing diplomacy. This is them choosing to contravene a very fundamental principle of international law and diplomacy.”<br />

Further speaking about the Indo-Canadian diaspora, he said, “It also has very real impacts on the millions of people who travel back and forth between India, as students, as family members, for weddings, for businesses, for the growing trade ties between our countries.”<br />
<br />
Earlier, the Indian foreign ministry had stated that it had not violated the Vienna Convention on diplomatic relations.<br />
<br />
"The state of our bilateral relations, the much higher number of Canadian diplomats in India, and their continued interference in our internal affairs warrant a parity in mutual diplomatic presence in New Delhi and Ottawa," said the ministry, in a statement.</p>

<p><strong>Namo Bharat Train</strong>: India's first semi-high-speed regional rail service Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) was officially renamed 'Namo Bharat' on Thursday (October 19), a day before its inauguration by the country's Prime Minister Narendra Modi.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Prime Minister Modi is expected to inaugurate the regional rail around 12 noon today (October 20), Hindustan Times reported.</p>

<p>Making the announcement official, Union Housing and Urban Affairs Minister Hardeep Singh Puri in a social media post said, "Inauguration of the country’s first Regional Rapid Train #NamoBharat between Sahibabad &amp; Duhai Depot by PM Sh @narendramodi Ji on 20 October 2023 will mark the beginning of a new era of state-of-the-art ultra-modern urban commute in the country. @PMOIndia @myogiadityanath."</p>

<p>Later, the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs's official handle tweeted, "India’s first Regional Rapid train “#NamoBharat” Train is indigenously manufactured with a designed speed potential of 180 kmph and an operational speed potential of 160 kmph."</p>

<p>The 17-km priority section of the Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut RRTS Corridor is expected to be opened for passengers on October 21, a day after its inauguration. The foundation stone for the Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut corridor was laid by PM Modi on 8 March 2019.</p>

<p>The National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC), which is implementing India's first semi-high-speed regional rail service project, named RRTS trains as 'RAPIDX' in April.</p>

<p>The Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut corridor is estimated to be worth Rs 30,000 crore ($3.60 billion) which will connect Delhi to Meerut with a travel time of less than an hour passing through urban centres of Ghaziabad, Muradnagar and Modinagar, the PM office had said. It added that the trains would be operational from 6 am to 11 pm. To start with, the frequency of trains would be 15 minutes and can be increased to every 5 minutes.</p>

<p>Renaming the rapid regional train comes after the renaming of the country's first semi-high-speed train "Train 18", now called "Vande Bharat", and the revamping of 1,275 railway stations under the "Amrit Bharat Stations" scheme.&nbsp;</p>
