Indian cricket fans are calling out Rohit Sharma for using a picture of him planting the Indian flag in Kensington Oval, Barbados, as his profile picture on X. Netizens are accusing Rohit of disrespecting the national flag by doing so. The main problem with the photo is that it shows the flag touching the ground, which, according to the Prevention of Insults to National Honour Act, 1971, is prohibited. The Act states, "The flag shall not be allowed intentionally to touch the ground or the floor or trail in water."
People are unhappy with Rohit choosing a picture where the national flag is touching the ground when he has several more options to choose from. Some of them also pointed out how plating the national flag of a country on the soil of another country symbolises ownership of the territory.

India wins T20 World Cup
The moment India bowled the last ball in the final of the T20 World Cup, jubilations erupted across the world. Rohit Sharma was seen lying down on the pitch, thumping it in a show of victory and achievement. He later went and grabbed the Indian flag and planted it on the field. The ecstatic moment probably led Rohit to do so and nothing was said about it at the time.
However, the matter was bound to erupt sooner or later, and Rohit using the photo as his X profile picture triggered the matter.
As part of the celebrations, Rohit also picked up a piece of soil from the pitch and ate it, which he later said was because he wanted to carry a piece of it with him forever.
Meanwhile, Rohit also announced his retirement from T20 internationals after winning the T20 World Cup. Virat Kohli and Ravindra Jadeja also bid adieu to the shortestformat of the game on the same day.
Rohit Sharma is now the only Indian player to have been a part of two T20 World Cups. He is also only one of two players worldwide to have played every T20 World Cup.
