Lionel Messi is earning more money at Inter Miami than the entire payroll of 25 clubs in the Major League Soccer (MLS) in the United States. Only four other teams in the league have payrolls bigger than the salary offered to Messi by David Beckham co-owned Inter Miami, according to the 2023 MLS players salary guide, as revealed by Goal.
Messi is earning a base salary of $12 million with a guaranteed compensation of around $20 million. Additionally, the former Barcelona star is earning approximately $50-60 million from his deals with the MLS and Apple TV.
Cumulatively, the World Cup-winning player is earning anywhere between $130-135 million in Miami, dwarfing the payrolls of other clubs. Former Napoli starLorenzo Insigne comes in second place behind Messi with a base salary package of $7.5 million.
While Messi is earning a fortune, his name has certainly brought more eyeballs to MLS with the Argentine's fans tuning in to watch himplay. Simultaneously,stadium ticket prices havehit a historic high, making it a win-win situation for both parties.

Contrary to most rumours that Messi was headed back to the Catalan club, Beckham was able to convince the Argentine to join his club which was only formed in 2019.
There was major interest from clubs in Saudi Arabia as well but Messi preferred to move to Miami to enjoy his football and time with the family.
“My decision went through many things, we thought about it with my wife, my children were also part of the decision, the family in general. I just came to play and enjoy football, which is what I've liked all my life. I chose [Miami] for that, above all else, and I'm very happy with the decision we made," said Messi.
Ever since moving to Miami, Messi has made an instant impact on the team, helping it win the Leagues Cup whilst ending the 2023 campaign with 11 goals in only 14 appearances. Inter Miami, however, failed to make the playoffs after Messi was sidelined due to an injury.
