The sudden exposure to smoke and toxic gases has left the elderly, children, pregnant women, and those with chronic respiratory or cardiac illnesses vulnerable as they struggle to cope.“The post-Diwali smog is particularly dangerous because it comes with a sudden, dense concentration of pollutants. We’ve seen a nearly 30 per cent jump in patients with breathing difficulties, asthma flare-ups, and allergic bronchitis within just two days after Diwali,” said Dr Pulkit Agarwal, Consultant Pulmonologist, SilverStreak Superspeciality Hospital, as quoted by PTI.Voicing similar concerns, Dr Mohit Bhardwaj, Consultant Pulmonology, Shalby International Hospital, Gurugram, said, “The combination of stagnant winter air and smoke from crackers traps pollutants close to the ground. People with pre-existing conditions must avoid outdoor exposure during peak pollution hours, wear N95 masks, and continue prescribed inhalers or medications without interruption.”Gynaecologists have also raised concerns over the less visible but serious effects of pollution on maternal and foetal health.“High levels of particulate matter can cross the placental barrier and interfere with foetal growth and brain development. In a disturbing incident, a woman doctor working at a government hospital in Maharashtra’s Satara district allegedly died due to suicide, leaving behind a suicide note written on her hand.

In that chilling note, she has accused two police officers of sexually assaulting and harassing her for several months. 

In her note, she mentioned accused PSI Gopal Badane of raping her repeatedly over five months, and alleged that another officer, Prashant Bankar, mentally harassed and intimidated her throughout this period.

“Police inspector Gopal Badne is the reason I died. He raped me four times.He subjected me to rape, mental and physical abuse for more than five months," the note on the victim's palm said.

The disturbing note has forced authorities to begin forensic testing swiftly to verify its authenticity as a part of the investigation.

The doctor, originally from Beed district, worked at a hospital in Phaltan tehsil. 

According to the police, the victim was found hanging in a hotel room in Phaltan late on Thursday night, prompting authorities to launch an investigation. 

Authorities have assured that a full investigation has been initiated to verify the facts and ensure accountability. 

On the other hand, other details have also emerged related to the suicide case.&nbsp;&nbsp;

The doctor was attached to Phaltan sub-district hospital and had been involved in a dispute between the police and health department regarding medical examinations. 

Sources say that an internal departmental inquiry had been initiated against her following disagreements with the police.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Prior to her death, she reportedly reached out to her seniors, expressing her concern on unfair treatment she was bearing and warning them that she might take her own life if the harassment continued.

Her colleagues said that despite her repeated complaints and pleas for help, little action was taken by senior authorities.

Meanwhile, the accused cop has been suspended after orders from Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis. 

The case has sparked outrage among medical professionals and citizens.

The probe pointed to a data centre based in Kalburgi was used as a submission point for these applications. The data center believed to have operated from Guttedar’s area of influence.Two individuals, Md Ashfaq and Md Akram, are alleged to have operated the data centre and facilitated the submission of these applications. The investigation also recovered a laptop and mobile phones. The probe found that 75 numbers belonging to people from different professions poultry farm workers to relatives of police, were used to file applications for the fraudulent deletion request from the voter list. The revelation was followed by a complaint by Congress MLA of Aland, B R Patil.&nbsp;The SIT was initially stalled due to the Election Commission of India not initially providing the crucial technical data to the Criminal Investigation Department.&nbsp;Congress Media Department head Pawan Khera said, “Under the BJP, the sacred right to vote has been reduced to a commodity – suspended for as little as Rs 80 per person. This mix has been developed by IIT Kanpur and contains silver iodide nanoparticles, iodised salt, and rock salt.
