The Noida International Airport has pushed its flight operations from September 2024 to next year due to construction delays.

"In view of the current construction status, we expect to begin commercial operations by the end of April 2025," the airport said in a statement on Monday.

"We are working together with our EPC (engineering, procurement and constructions) contractor Tata Projects Limited and with other stakeholders to keep the pace of construction activities and preparations for operational readiness high," the airport said.

The statement further said that the airport had signed agreements with several airlines for flight connections from Noida International Airport.

It underlined that the construction work was in advanced stages.

"Construction and development work at Noida International Airport is at an advanced stage and we continue to pass important milestones on the road to operational readiness. This is a large and complex project, and the next few weeks of construction activities are crucial," the airport said.

It stated that the construction work on the runway, the passenger terminal and the control tower was "well advanced" and that concessions were awarded for ground handling, the operation of commercial areas and important maintenance contracts.

The Uttar Pradesh government's mega public-private partnership project has been dubbed as one of the biggest airports in India after its completion.

It is being constructed in four stages over a total area of more than 5,000 hectares.

The first phase of the construction is currently underway and was initially expected to finish in the month of September, making way for passenger flights from Jewar.

In the first phase, the airport will have only one runway and a terminal building which is expected to accommodate 1.2 crore passengers annually, as per the project officials.
