The CBSE issued a show cause notice to Ryan International School's Bhondsi branch where the seven-year-old was murdered
The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has sent a notice to Gurugram's Ryan Internationalasking for an explanation on why the school's affiliation should not be revoked after serious security lapses were found following the murder of a seven-year-old student, Pradyuman Thakur, within the school premises.
Flagging several violations of the board's safety guidelines by the school, the CBSE said the murder could have been averted had the school authorities discharged their duty and responsibility with care and sincerity. It also accused the management of negligence.
"The school management also failed to inform police and education department regarding theincident of death of the child, which shows negligence on the part of school administration. The incident of death of the student was reported to the Police Authorities by the parent," the show cause notice read.
The show-cause notice was sent to the school's Bhondsi branch, which has been asked to respond within 15 days.
A CBSE official said that the board will take its next steps after examining the school's reply.
On Friday, chief minister ML Khattar announced that the Haryana government had taken over the management of the school for three months. He added that he had recommended a CBI probe into the murder of the Class 2 student who was found murdered near the school's toilet with his throat slit on September 8.

A two-member Special Investigation Team had highlighted glaring lapses in the security infrastructureincluding non-functional CCTV cameras, non-verification of staff and lack of separate toilets for staff like drivers and conductors.
The SIT report has been received by the CBSE and is being examined in the light of prescribed guidelines and violations, ANI reported.
The board further said that sufficient CCTV cameras at prominent places have not been installed as per our guidelines.
"Most of the CCTV cameras installed in the school building are not functioning," the board noted.
