Melissa McCarthy is on Barbra Streisand’s side amid the Ozempic debate on social media. After fans dissed Barbra for “supposed” weight-shaming as she asked Melissa about Ozempic while commenting on one of her pictures, Melissa said that the singer was only complimenting her.
Melissa McCarthy took to social media to post a happy video in which she responded to Barbra’s since-deleted Instagram comment. In the video, Melissa can be seen holding up a copy of a magazine titled Barbra: Celebrating an Icon, with Streisand’s face on the cover.
Melissa said in the video, “The takeaway, Barbra Streisand knows I exist. She reached out to me, and she thought I looked good! I win the day.”

What was the whole Ozempic debate about?
It started when Melissa McCarthy posted a photo on Instagram. She looked visibly thinner in the pictures. Melissa posed with director Adam Shankman at the Center Theatre Group’s CTG The Gala event in Los Angeles. On the post, Barbra commented, “Give him my regards, did you take Ozempic?”Barbra Streisand's Ozempic comment on Melissa McCarthy's post stirs weight shaming debate
Barbra later deleted the comment but fans were quick to take screenshots. Some fans called Barbra “rude” while others wanted Barbra to behave better.
Reacting to the trolling, Barbra said, “OMG — I went on Instagram to see the photos we’d posted of the beautiful flowers I’d received for my birthday! Below them was a photo of my friend Melissa McCarthy who I sang with on my Encore album,” Streisand wrote on social media. “She looked fantastic! I just wanted to pay her a compliment. I forgot the world was reading!”
Meanwhile, Melissa McCarthy and Barbra Streisand have worked together. They did a duet of “Anything You Can Do” on Streisand’s 2016 Encore: Movie Partners Sing Broadway album.
