The US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has launched an investigation into allegations made by a whistleblower against Boeing, further aggravating safety concerns surrounding the aerospace giant.
According to a Reuters report, the whistleblower, identified as Boeing engineer Sam Salehpour, has raised issues regarding safety and quality standards in the production of Boeing's 787 and 777 jets.
Salehpour's claims include allegations of the company ignoring safety concerns and employing shortcuts in the assembly process, that could possibly compromise the structural integrity of the aircraft.
He said that he faced retaliation, including threats and exclusion from meetings, after identifying engineering problems.
Boeing has been struggling with a major safety crisis after a mid-air panel blowout on a 737 MAX plane earlier this year, leading to a management shakeup and regulatory restrictions on production.

Boeing responded to the allegations by saying that it was confident about the safety of the 787 Dreamliner, dismissing Salehpour's claims as inaccurate.
The company highlighted its efforts to ensure the quality and long-term safety of its aircraft.
According to a report by the Associated Press, after the emergence of these whistleblower allegations, a Senate subcommittee called Boeing CEO David Calhoun to testify regarding the safety of the company's aircrafts.
The inquiry, prompted by the new charges, aims to address possible safety risks associated with Boeing aircraft.
Boeing has offered to cooperate with the Senate subcommittee's inquiry, providing documents, testimony, and technical briefings.
The company is looking to address the concerns raised by Salehpour and ensure transparency in the investigation process.
