Amazon’s Twitch revamps safety advisory council with community ambassadors

Twitch, a streaming network owned by Amazon.com Inc, announced an extensive overhaul of its safety advisory board on Thursday, adding new members from its pool of "Twitch Ambassadors". This change is intended to introduce new, different perspectives into the platform's safety standards.

Twitch Ambassadors are individuals who are recognised for their excellent contributions to the community, according to the company's website. Previously, the council featured both online safety professionals and anti-bullying advocates.

The safety advisory council, which was formed in 2020, provides crucial input for improving user safety on the platform. "After working with many of the same core members for several years, we have brought in new council members to offer fresh, diverse perspectives," a representative for Twitch said.

The reform, which was first reported by CNBC, will result in the termination of contracts for former council members, according to a source familiar with the situation.
