A backyard astrophotographer captured a stunning image of the International Space Station (ISS) laboratory transiting a crescent moon at a speed of more than 17,000 miles per hour.

Andrew McCarthy, who is known for clicking breathtaking photos of the cosmos, recently published a photo which showed the massive 356-foot-long orbiting laboratory transiting a massive crescent moon. The laboratory appeared like a shiny speck and the moon's crated surface was clearly visible.

McCarthy stated that he went to a remote location in the Sonoran Desert and placed his equipment among cacti in 105°F (40.5 degree Celsius) heat with hopes of capturing details of the station which is rarely visible.

Spain has logged its hottest spring ever in the last 60 years of recordkeeping, as average temperatures remained generally two degree Celsius above the usual, reported the national weather agency on Wednesday.

This year, the country also experienced its second driest-ever spring on record, leaving behind the one it faced in 1995, stated the AEMET agency as the prolonged drought hit the country's key agricultural sector.

In 2022, Spain had its hottest year on record and now it is expected to become one of the worst-hit countries of the European Union in terms of climate change.

According to AEMET, the average temperature was "14.2 degree Celsius (57.5 degrees Fahrenheit), which was 1.8 degree Celsius hotter" than normal.

That is "extremely hot, exceeding 1997 -- the hottest spring up to now -- by 0.3 degree Celsius," it added.

"The spring of 2023 was the hottest spring on record in Spain," AEMET stated while speaking about the three-month period that began in March.

The country in late April had battled a major heatwave as local temperatures shot up to 20 degree Celsius above average, increasing the drought.

In the month of May, temperatures remained slightly higher than average and then dropped below the average in the month's second half as it received heavy rainfall that helped in cooling down the weather but couldn't alleviate the drought.

However, the drought, "which is measured over the longer term, has not been resolved," he added.

"In this hydrological year so far, we've seen a 20 per cent shortage in rainfall so for that to be resolved, it would need to rain 20 per cent more (than usual) in autumn," Campo further added.

In the last few years, Spain has been facing more heatwaves and rainfall has been increasingly scarce and irregular.

The defence force of Japan has been rethinking removing the ban on tattoos as it is making efforts to increase recruitment from a rapidly shrinking population.

For a long time, tattoos have been a taboo in the nation and are often linked to mafia-like criminal gangs which are popularly known as yakuza. These criminal gangs carry elaborate skin art on their body.

A nature lover and nurse in Canada claimed to have captured bizarre footage on her security camera. It supposedly shows “two witches holding a carcass-eating ritual”. The scary video was captured in the camera that the woman had installed near her home, according to a report published by Fox News.

“I don’t know what the heck was up with that,” said 36-year-old Corinea Stanhope, of Powell River, British Columbia, while speaking to Kennedy News. “It really freaked us out, it’s not something you see every day," she added.

Stanhope said that she came across a deer carcass which was present in the garden inside her property. She added that she set up the camera to check if any animal would take interest in the dead deer.

“Me and my grandpa put up a trail camera to see if we could see animals, and we got a bobcat (on camera), which was pretty cool,” Stanhope said, further stating that the video footage of the topless women feeding on the dead carcass left her 76-year-old grandfather Bob horrified.

“I came the next day, and grandpa said he’d got naked people on the camera, and I said, ‘No, you didn’t. Bulls**t.’ So, he showed me,” she stated.

There can be no sea ice left in the Arctic roughly a decade earlier than expected, warned scientists in another sign of the climate crisis accelerating faster than expected as pollution continues to heat the planet.

Synthetic skin, made of polypropylene glycol and silicone and one that can stretch like human skin without any tearing, besides having magnetic properties which help the skin to self-align, has been developed by scientists at Stanford University.

On warming, the two polymers soften and flow and solidify when they cool. When it is heated at around 158 degree Fahrenheit, the healing and self-alignment take place in about 24 hours.

The team stated that the skin could create "reconfigurable soft robots that can change shape and sense their deformation on demand" and ultimately transform warfare.

PhD candidate and Co-author Chris Cooper said, "We've achieved what we believe to be the first demonstration of a multi-layer, thin film sensor that automatically realigns during healing. This is a critical step toward mimicking human skin, which has multiple layers that all re-assemble correctly during the healing process."

This is a critical step toward mimicking human skin, which has multiple layers that all re-assemble correctly during the healing process." ALSO READ | Ultimate guide to skin pH! Real Terminators? Synthetic self-healing skin likely to create killer robots on battlefield

A 26-year-old woman shared a shocking diagnosis she went through after she suffered a knee fracture while sitting on the toilet seat at her home.

According to a report published by New York Post, Bethany Eason had been experiencing knee pain for seven years and had been referred to a doctor.

The woman was advised to get an X-ray done of her knee. After checking the X-ray, the doctor told her there was "something there" and asked Eason to visit a therapist for treatment, stated the outlet.

In February 2017, the woman was facing extreme pain in her left leg while climbing the stairs. Later when she sat on the toilet seat, her knee bone fractured.

On visiting the hospital, Eason was informed it happened because of the presence of a giant cell tumour in her knee because of which her bones and surrounding soft tissue had weakened.
