In the first round of voting within the Conservative Party, MPs vote for the candidate of their choice. Those candidate who get less than 18 votes are eliminated.

In the second round of voting, the MPs vote again, this time, candidates getting less than 36 votes are eliminated. If all candidates exceed the 36 vote-mark, candidate with least votes is eliminated.

This process continues until two candidates are left in the fray.

To select the winner, a wider postal vote of the Conservative Party is carried out. The candidate with most votes wins.

Under law, a British PM can call for an election at any time. Johnson has threatened that he will call for an election if his party forces him to leave the office.

"I am pleased to announce that we have had positive results, in our view, in that we have agreed on a ceasefire, among other measures," Lourenco said in remarks at the end of the mini-summit attended by Rwanda's Paul Kagame and Congo's Felix Tshisekedi in the Angolan capital Luanda.

Tshisekedi's office said a "roadmap" had been established towards normalising diplomatic ties, including through ending hostilities involving the M23 militia in eastern DRC.

The announcements came after day-long talks which the Rwandan state broadcaster reported had "concluded with an agreed upon roadmap to deescalate hostilities".

But the Rwanda Broadcasting Agency stressed that it was agreed that the issue of M23 "be dealt with domestically within the framework of the Nairobi process."

A mostly Congolese Tutsi rebel group, the M23 -- or "March 23 Movement" -- first leapt to prominence when it briefly captured the eastern Congolese city of Goma in 2012 before it was driven out in a joint UN-Congolese offensive.

DR Congo and Rwanda agree on a 'de-escalation process'

US Treasury on Wednesday (June 6) said that it was freezing assets of members of an international network. The international network was violating oil sanctions on Tehran by way of selling millions of dollars' worth of Iranian oil to East Asia.

The asset freeze is targetting Iranian petrochemical firms in addition to China and UAE-based alleged front companies for Iran's state-owned company. The sanctions are also targetting Triliance, a Hong Kong-based company already under US sanctions for its dealings with Iran.

Washington had already imposed sanctions on Iranian petrochemical producers in mid-June, as well as Chinese and Indian brokers, expanding pressure amid a deadlock in negotiations on restoring a 2015 deal to curb Iran's nuclear program.

"While the United States is committed to achieving an agreement with Iran that seeks a mutual return to compliance with the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action, we will continue to use all our authorities to enforce sanctions," the Treasury said, referring to the nuclear deal.

Wednesday's announcement came ahead of a highly-anticipated visit next week by President Joe Biden to Israel and Saudi Arabia when efforts to contain the nuclear threat from Iran will be top of the agenda.

Sanctions were also imposed on China-based broker Jeff Gao and Indian national Mohammad Shaheed Ruknooddin Bhore for allegedly managing business for Triliance.

All of the targets' property and interests in the United States will be frozen, and US-based people and companies are blocked from conducting business dealings with them.

US Treasury freezes assets of network selling Iranian oil

Sudan's main civillian group has rejected a proposal from the coup leader who vowed to 'make room' for civillian groups a 'giant ruse'. The civilian bloc&nbsp;has urged more protests.

Burhan had uprooted the transitional government last year. The government had been painstakingly forged between military and civillian factions in 2019. This government was formed after mass protests that prompted the army to oust longtime dictator Omar al-Bashir in April that year

The lawsuit against Mainz-based BioNTech and two of its subsidiaries will seek "fair compensation" for infringement of intellectual property rights, the company said.

BioNTech developed Comirnaty jab with US pharma company Pfizer. It was the first Covid-19 vaccine to be approved in West. It has since become one of the most widely used vaccine around the world.

Tuebingen-based CureVac was founded 22 years ago by mRNA pioneer Ingmar Hoerr.

It has since patented basic technology "related to mRNA design, delivery and manufacturing" that it said had "materially contributed to the development of safe and efficacious Covid-19 vaccines".

CureVac said that as the "earliest pioneer in mRNA technology" it had supported "decades of scientific research and innovation" behind the jabs.

BioNTech said in a statement its work was original and it would "vigorously defend it against all allegations of patent infringement".&nbsp;

"We are aware that it is not unusual that other companies in the pharmaceutical industry, having witnessed the success of Comirnaty, are now suggesting that the vaccine potentially infringes their intellectual property rights," it said.

CureVac said it was not planning any legal steps that could hinder the production, sale or distribution of the Comirnaty vaccine.

A July 1 letter by Israeli health ministry director-general Nachman Ash, sent to AFP on Tuesday, noted two hearings held by a ministry panel, in which Pfizer and Moderna data on the "mild" side effects and efficacy rates were presented.

All members of the expert panel agreed the vaccines were safe, with most of the panel "recommending to vaccinate at-risk babies and children, and to enable the vaccination of children who are not at risk," Ash wrote.

In light of the recommendation, Ash decided "to enable the administering of mRNA Covid-19 vaccinations by Pfizer and Moderna to children aged six months to four or five years," he said.&nbsp;

Over six million Israelis have received at least two Covid-19 vaccination shots, included in them 17 percent of the country's children aged 5-11, which up to the latest approval had been the youngest group eligible for the inoculation.

Observations from the investigation may advance professions such as communications, aerospace, medicine, and astronomy," said NASA.

In addition to the AI experiment, the astronauts studied space-caused bone loss. Due to their stay in zero gravity for long time-periods, astronauts suffer loss in bone mass.

"(NASA astronaut) Jessica Watkins started her day partnering with NASA Flight Engineer Bob Hines for an investigation that explores how weightlessness affects dexterous manipulation. The duo took turns seated in a unique apparatus inside the Columbus laboratory module to help scientists understand how astronauts grip and manipulate objects in space. Insights may inform the design of intelligent spacecraft interfaces and provide a deeper understanding of the human nervous system," NASA said.

For example, if a person drank 20 ml of pure alcohol, only 6 ml will enter the blood stream.

The company says that the pill fights onset of handover by activating bacteris in the gut which break down alcohol to carbon dioxide and water before it reaches the liver.

In UK, 30 pills are available for 30 pounds.

This pill may seem to be a boon to many but experts have been quoted as saying that people may abuse these pill. They have drawn attention to the possibility that someone who wants to drive after drinking may try to take this pill and it may not always be safe. Mars and Venus, our neighbours are among prime candidates in this regard.

But now, Cambridege University researchers have said that unusal behaviour of Sulphur in the atmosphere of Venus can't beb explained by 'aerial' form of extra-terrestrial life. There has been a speculation for decades that Veuns harbours microbial life among its Sulphurous clouds.&nbsp;

Any life form in sufficient abundance is expected to leave chemical fingerprints on a planet's atmosphere as it consumes food and expels waste. However, the Cambridge researchers found no evidence of these fingerprints on Venus.

Even if Venus is devoid of life, the researchers say their results, reported in the journal Nature Communications, could be useful for studying the atmospheres of similar planets throughout the galaxy, and the eventual detection of life outside our Solar System.

"We've spent the past two years trying to explain the weird sulphur chemistry we see in the clouds of Venus," said co-author Dr Paul Rimmer from Cambridge's Department of Earth Sciences. "Life is pretty good at weird chemistry, so we've been studying whether there's a way to make life a potential explanation for what we see."

To arrive at their conclusion, researchers used atmospheric and biochemical models to study chemical reactions that are expected to occur on Venus.

"We looked at the sulphur-based 'food' available in the Venusian atmosphere -- it's not anything you or I would want to eat, but it is the main available energy source," said Sean Jordan from Cambridge's Institute of Astronomy, the paper's first author. "If that food is being consumed by life, we should see evidence of that through specific chemicals being lost and gained in the atmosphere."

"If life is present, it must be affecting the atmospheric chemistry," said co-author Dr Oliver Shorttle from Cambridge's Department of Earth Sciences and Institute of Astronomy. "Could life be the reason that SO2 levels on Venus get reduced so much?"

"We wanted life to be a potential explanation, but when we ran the models, it isn't a viable solution. But if life isn't responsible for what we see on Venus, it's still a problem to be solved -- there's lots of strange chemistry to follow up on," said Sean Jordan

“Mechanisms in place could have saved the Yazidis from what is now part of their past, and part of their past partial destruction,” he said as quoted by The Guardian.

The report has resulted after a three year investigation. It examined the conduct of 13 countries. The report has concluded that three of these countries have failed to perform their duty to prevent genocide.

The report goes even further in case of Turkiye&nbsp;and states that the country was complicit. It alleges that Turkey failed to police its borders to prevent inflow of Islamic State fighters. Officials in Turkey have said that these allegations are baseless.

Resignations from more ministers have put Boris Johnson on the brink. Johnson has recently survived a no-confidence motion from the ranks of his own party.

There has been a string of resignations from Johnson government. Home Office Minister Victoria Atkins, City Minister and Economic Secretary to the Treasury John Glen, and Schools Minister Robin Walker have resigned.

In addition to this Conservative MP Chris Skidmore has submitted a letter of no-confidence in PM Boris Johnson.

Former finance minister Rishi Sunak and former health secretary Sajid Javid both earlier said they could no longer tolerate a culture of scandal in the present government led by PM Boris Johnson. Not too long ago, Johnson was in the eye of the storm due to parties held at his official residence when much of Britain was under strict COVID lockdown. Another scandal to hit Johnson government was appointment of&nbsp;a senior Conservative Party member, who quit his post last week after he was accused of drunkenly groping two men.

Resignations of Rishi Sunak and Sajid Javid came soon after Johnson apologised for appointment of David Pincher, the conservative party member accused of groping men.

Days of shifting explanations had followed the resignation of deputy chief whip Chris Pincher. Downing Street at first denied Johnson knew of prior allegations against Pincher when appointing him in February.

But by Tuesday, that defence had collapsed after a former top civil servant said Johnson, as foreign minister, was told in 2019 about another incident involving his ally.

Will Quince, minister for children and families who quit on Wednesday, said that he was given the inaccurate information before having to defend the government in a round of media interviews on Monday.
