US State department has said that the US could not make a "definitive conclusion" on the origin of the bullet that killed her on May 11. The bullet was handed over by Palestinian Authority.

"Ballistic experts determined the bullet was badly damaged, which prevented a clear conclusion," State Department spokesman Ned Price said after what he called "extremely detailed forensic analysis" with outside examiners.

Abu Alekh's death had caused a furore. Palestinian Authority called it a war crime. This further prompted angry denials from Israel. US President Joe Biden is due to visit Israel in two weeks.

The US Security Coordinator (USSC), which directs security assistance to the Palestinian Authority in coordination with Israel, said that both sides granted full access to their own probes over the past several weeks.

"By summarizing both investigations, the USSC concluded that gunfire from IDF positions was likely responsible for the death of Shireen Abu Akleh," the State Department said, referring to the Israeli Defense Forces.

"The USSC found no reason to believe that this was intentional but rather the result of tragic circumstances during an IDF-led military operation against factions of Palestinian Islamic Jihad," it said.

"We will remain engaged with Israel and the PA on next steps and urge accountability. We again offer our deepest condolences to the Abu Akleh family," said the rare July 4 statement.

Sources in India's aviation industry have been quoted in the media reports as saying that there was a fat chance IndiGo employees took a leave to ensure fatter paychecks at Air India recruitment drive.

The phase-2 of Air India's recruitment drive was conducted on Saturday, July 2.

IndiGo, India's largest airline, currently operates approximately 1,600 flights --domestic and international -- daily.

News agency Press Trust of India said IndiGo and Air India did not respond to its requests for statements.

According to the Ministry of Civil Aviation's website, 45.2 per cent of IndiGo's domestic flights operated on time on Saturday.

In comparison, the on-time performances of Air India, SpiceJet, Vistara, Go First and AirAsia India was 77.1 per cent, 80.4 per cent, 86.3 per cent, 88 per cent and 92.3 per cent, respectively, on Saturday.

IndiGo CEO Ronjoy Dutta had on April 8 told employees through an email that raising salaries is a difficult and thorny issue but the airline will constantly review and adjust wages based on its profitability and the competitive environment.

IndiGo had on April 4 suspended a few pilots who were planning to organise a strike the next day to protest against the pay cuts that were implemented during the peak of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Tata Group took control of Air India on January 27, after successfully winning the bid for the airline on October 8 last year. Air India plans to buy new planes and improve its services, and it recently started a recruitment drive for fresh cabin crew members.

Egyptian Ministry of Environment said on Sunday (July 3) that two women were killed in shark attacks in Egypt's Red Sea, south of city of Hurghada. Reuters, citing two sources, said that the body of a Romanian tourist in her late forties was discovered hours after an attack that left a 68-year-old Austrian woman dead.

Both attacks happened within 600 metres of each other, off the coast of Sahl Hasheesh, according to the sources.

The ministry said in its statement that a committee had been formed to examine the circumstances of the attacks and any scientific reasons behind them.

Macron ditches minister accused of rape in cabinet reshuffle

Soon after Russia's assertion, Ukrainian army said that it had ordered a retreat from the city. It said that this was done to ensure more lives are not lost. After being repelled in its initial attempt to capture the capital Kyiv in February, Russia has focused on driving Ukrainian forces out of the eastern Luhansk and Donetsk regions where Moscow-backed separatists have been fighting Kyiv since Russia's first military intervention in Ukraine in 2014.

Russian cosmonauts celebrate fall of Luhansk in space

Supernova is an outright explosion of the star. The phenomenon is associated with death of a star. But a 'Nova' is a different type of explosion. It is a transient (short-lived) phenomenon in the universe that may look like birth of a new star. During or after a nova, depending on the intensity of the flash, a 'new' star may be visible for some days or weeks by naked eye.

But a particular nova is being called a 'record-fast' nova. This is because it flashed, and was visible for just a day and then faded from the view.

The galactic nova was in the northern constellation of Hercules the Hero along the constellation's border with Sagitta and Aquila.

Japanese amateur astronomer Seidji Ueda made discovery of the nova on the night of June 21, 2021. The nova was named V1674 Herculis (V1674 Her or Nova Herculis 2021).

A nova differes from a supernova. It is usually observed in binary star system, that is, two stars revolving around each other due to mutual effect of the gravity they exert on each other. One of them is a white dwarf star. The white dwarf siphons material from its companion star. The material gets accumuated near the white dwarf and is then heated. It results in an explosion. This is the nova.

"The white dwarf that exploded is massive and growing in mass toward a Supernova 1A explosion," astronomer Sumner Starrfield of the University of Minnesota told Universe Today. "It ejected far less mass than necessary to be accrete by the white dwarf and initiate an explosion."

Novae form important celestial process. They seed heavier elements back into space

"We are continuing to observe this system since it has not returned to quiescence," says Starrfield. "We know that it has a ~500-second oscillation—presumably the white dwarf rotation period—and an about 3.6 hour rotation period that is probably the rotation period of the binary. We need more spectroscopy and photometry to better understand those periods and the implications of those periods."

This is because it flashed, and was visible for just a day and then faded from the view. The galactic nova was in the northern constellation of Hercules the Hero along the constellation's border with Sagitta and Aquila. Japanese amateur astronomer Seidji Ueda made discovery of the nova on the night of June 21, 2021. The nova was named V1674 Herculis (V1674 Her or Nova Herculis 2021). A nova differes from a supernova. It is usually observed in binary star system, that is, two stars revolving around each other due to mutual effect of the gravity they exert on each other. One of them is a white dwarf star. The white dwarf siphons material from its companion star. The material gets accumuated near the white dwarf and is then heated. It results in an explosion. This is the nova. "The white dwarf that exploded is massive and growing in mass toward a Supernova 1A explosion," astronomer Sumner Starrfield of the University of Minnesota told Universe Today. "It ejected far less mass than necessary to be accrete by the white dwarf and initiate an explosion." Novae form important celestial process. They seed heavier elements back into space "We are continuing to observe this system since it has not returned to quiescence," says Starrfield. "We know that it has a ~500-second oscillation—presumably the white dwarf rotation period—and an about 3.6 hour rotation period that is probably the rotation period of the binary. A 'record-fast' nova was visible for a day and then vanished

Russian Defence Minister Sergei Shoigu on Sunday said that Russia has taken strategic Ukrainian city of Lysychansk and now has control over the entire Luhansk region. Fierce fighting was ongoing between Russia and Ukraine over the region in east Ukraine.&nbsp;

"Sergei Shoigu has informed the commander in chief of the Russian armed forces, Vladimir Putin, of the liberation of the People's Republic of Lugansk," the defence ministry said in a statement quoted by Russian news agencies.

Russian forces and their separatist allies have taken "full control of Lysychansk and other nearby towns, notably Belogorovka, Novodruzhesk, Maloryazantseve and Bila Hora," the statement said.

News agency AFP said that it was unable to independently verify the claims which were made through Russian news outlets.

Meanwhile, Ukrainian President volodymyr Zelensky has denied Moscow's claim that Lysychansk had fallen.

"We cannot say today that Lysychansk is under (Russian) control. There is fighting on the outskirts," Zelensky told a press conference with Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese.&nbsp;

Zelensky warned, however, of "risks" that the Luhansk region, where Lysychansk was the last major city in Ukrainian hands, "will be completely occupied" by Moscow.

A few minutes prior to the announcement, a spokesman for the Russian defence ministry had said that fighting was ongoing in Lysychansk and that Ukrainian forces were "completely" surrounded.

An&nbsp;adviser to President Volodymyr Zelensky had earlier admitted that the city could fall. Russia already controls Lysychank's sister city Severodonetsk.

Control of Lysychansk can be a shot in the arm for Russia as it attempts to solidify its hold on east Ukraine.

After the Russian invasion of Ukraine started on February 24, Russian forces tried to capture Ukrainian capital Kyiv but were repelled by Ukrainian forces. Russia has since then concentrated its firepower towards gaining control of Donbas region in east Ukraine.

Pro-Russian separatists in the Donbas region have long enjoyed support from Russia. With Lysychansk, list of Russia-controlled cities in Ukrain&nbsp;is steadily growing. Russia already has control on Mariupol and Severodonetsk.&nbsp;

"This summit... does not have legitimacy, validity, or the approval of the people."

Since seizing power in August last year, the Taliban have imposed a religious regime guided by harsh interpretation of sharia law. This has led to many restrictions on Afghans. Women have been instructed to cover-up from head to toe. Men have been asked to dress in traditional wear and grow beards.

In Kabul, a collective of women's groups also slammed the clerics' meeting as not representative.

"The ulema (clerics) are just one part of society, they are not the whole," organiser Ainoor Uzbik told AFP after a press conference.

"The decisions they made serve only their own interests and are not in the interest of the country and its people. There was nothing for women on the agenda, nor in the communique."

First bus service between Crimea and Russian-held Ukraine territory starts

Germany on Friday signed an agreement for return of hundreads of Benin bronzes back to what is now Nigeria. This is a biggest effort yet by a European country to return the looted artworks during colonial times.

The agreement was signed in Berlin by German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock and Culture Minister Claudia Roth with their Nigeria counterparts. Germany announced last year that ut would begin returning the bronzes.

The first two artworks -- the head of a king and a plaque depicting three warriors -- were on Friday handed over to representatives from Nigeria.

"Today we have reason to celebrate, because we have reached a historic agreement -- the Benin bronzes are returning home," Baerbock said.&nbsp;

"These pieces are not only magnificent artefacts -- they are some of Africa's greatest treasures. But they are also telling a story of colonial violence," she said.

Thousands of Benin bronzes, metal plaques and sculptures that once decorated the royal palace of the Kingdom of Benin are now scattered around European museums after being looted by the British at the end of the 19th century.

Around 1100 of these artefacts are in about 20 German museums.

The biggest collection is held by the Ethnological Museum in Berlin, which has 440 -- considered the most important collection outside London's British Museum.

Negotiations are still ongoing as to which of the bronzes held by the Ethnological Museum will be returned to Nigeria, and which will remain in Berlin on loan.

Nigeria has been negotiating the return of Benin bronzes from several European countries and plans to build a museum in Benin City in southern Edo state, where it hopes to house them.
