The People Democratic Party (PDP) president Mehbooba Mufti also rejected the proposal and said, "My apprehensions about the Delimitation Commission weren't misplaced. They want to pitch people against each other by ignoring the population census &amp; preposing 6 seats for one region &amp; only one for Kashmir."

The PDP spokesperson while speaking to the media said "our apprehensions have come true".&nbsp;

St Lukes Church was established in the year 1896 by two Christian men called Arthur and Ernest Neve. And the church is a great example of the composite culture of the Kashmir Valley which dates back centuries.&nbsp;

"The government asked us everything they should be doing. It was only done after consultations with us. We are all very happy and it's like a dream come true. And not only for Christians but I think the locals who live around the area are happy that the church will have prayers again. The church was established in 1896 and it shows the history of Christianity in Kashmir. A lot of people don't know that Christians live in Kashmir but they are also surprised. With this, the message of brotherhood is sent across. There would be service over there on Christmas. We will have carol service and prayer there," said Reverend Eric in Srinagar.&nbsp;

Under the smart city project, the St Lukes church has been brought back to its original glory. The Jammu and Kashmir government took the initiative to restore the church on the auspicious occasion of Christmas and threw the church open to the public. It took hundreds of artisans and labourers to restore this heritage site. With Gothic architecture, the Interiors of the church are unique as they have an amalgamation of Kashmir's craftsmanship like Khatamband Ceiling with the Gothic Walls.&nbsp;

"It's a 125-year-old church, it was established in 1896 by two people named Arthur and Ernest Neve. It's a beautiful structure of gothic architecture. It's slightly different from the usual architecture we have in Kashmir. The inside interiors of the church have a Khatamband ceiling which is unique to Kashmir. It was in dilapidated condition and there were structural issues. The main structural issues have been restored. Its external facade has been restored. It has a three-floor bell tower which has also been restored. Besides that, we have used the local craftsmen to redo the place. I am happy that under the smart city project we have managed to restore this. We have done it with consultations with the local Christian community. The structure of this place is unique and it definitely will be one of the new landmarks to visit in Srinagar city," said Athar Amin, Commissioner SMC.&nbsp;

The government also plans to keep this heritage church a must-go place for the visitors coming to Kashmir Valley. The Government has plans to restore all heritage structures in the Kashmir Valley to boost tourism.&nbsp;

The temperatures in tourist resorts like Gulmarg was recorded at 8.5 degrees while Pahalgam was at minus 8.3 degrees.&nbsp; 
Leh recorded the minimum temperature at minus 15 degrees while Kargil was at minus 13.1 degrees.&nbsp;

The temperatures will further continue to dip in the coming few days, said the MeT department in Srinagar. The department has also predicted moderate to heavy snowfall from 23-25 December.&nbsp;

Kashmir is again expected to see white Christmas this year.&nbsp;

The lighting arrangements will also be put in place. Road opening parties will stay longer at the time of movement of police vehicles,”' said Vijay Kumar, IG Kashmir.&nbsp;

The policemen who are off duty have been asked to remain extra vigilant while attending any social gatherings such as weddings, religious places etc.&nbsp;

The number of security personnel on the ground have also been increased. New bunkers have been put in place, and checkpoints at various places, especially roads leading to different districts of Kashmir valley have been set up.&nbsp;

There has been a spurt in gunfights in Kashmir Valley in recent days. On Thursday, two terrorists were killed Redwani region of South Kashmir's Kulgam.

A day before on Wednesday, another terrorist from the Hizbul Mujahideen group was naturalised.

Bulletproof vehicles, new gadgets for Jammu Kashmir Police amid spate of terrorist attacks

First women ice hockey development camp started at Drass in minus 19 degree temperatures

A terrorist from the proscribed terror outfit Hizbul Mujahideen was killed by security forces during an encounter in Zainapora area of Shopian district in India’s Kashmir state.

The armed forces had received a tip-off about the presence of a terrorist in the area following which cordon and search operation (CASO) was launched.

During the search operation, the terrorist started firing on security forces, who then retaliated, ensuing an encounter, police said.

“On the intervening night of December 14 and December 15, acting on a specific input regarding the presence of a terrorist in village Uzrampathri area of Pulwama, a joint cordon and search operation was launched by the police, armed forces from 44 Rashtriya rifles and 182 battalion&nbsp;from the Central Reserve Police Force in the said area,” the Jammu and Kashmir Police said in a statement.&nbsp;

The terrorist has been identified as Feroz Ahmad Dar, son of Abdul Khaliq resident of Heff-Shirmal Shopian.

Police said the terrorist was active since 2017 and was involved in several terror-related crime cases, including the attack on police guards in December 2018 at Zainapora resulting in the killing of four personnel and looting their service rifles.&nbsp;

“He was also involved in the killing of a girl, Ishrat Muneer daughter of Muneer Ahmad Bhat resident of Dangerpora Pulwama in February 2019. He was involved in the killing of a non-local labourer, Charnajeet, a resident of Punjab. Besides, he was also instrumental in luring the gullible youth to join terrorist ranks,” the police said.&nbsp;

The security forces recovered arms and ammunition, including one AK rifle, along with three magazines from him.

The Kashmir Valley had been witnessing a spurt in violence in recent days.

Wednesday’s gunfight is the third in four days in the village. On Sunday, a militant was killed in a gunfight in South Kashmir’s Awantipora.

Two Jammu and Kashmir Policemen have been killed while 12 others were injured in a terror attack in Zewan area on the outskirts of Srinagar. The policemen were in a bus when terrorists fired on them indiscriminately&nbsp;injuring 14 soldiers.&nbsp;

"Among the injured police personnel, 01 ASI &nbsp;&amp; a selection grade constable succumbed to their injuries &amp; attained martyrdom," said Jammu and Kashmir police.&nbsp;

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has sought details of the terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir, the PMO said. India's prime minister expressed condolences to the families of security personnel who were killed in the attack.

The Jammu and Kashmir police have cordoned off the whole area where the attack took place. The incident happened close to the police camp at Zewan which is adjacent to the national highway.&nbsp;

Terrorists open fire on police vehicle in Srinagar; 2 security personnel killed
