Jammu and Kashmir government for the first time ever has inaugurated multipurpose cinema halls in the Kashmir Valley. The Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir Manoj Sinha inaugurated the cinema halls on Sunday (September 18) in South Kashmir's Pulwama and Shopian District.&nbsp;

Both these districts were highly volatile areas with respect to terror activities. The opening of these cinema halls in South Kashmir is indicative of changing security situation in these areas. The multipurpose Cinema Halls will offer facilities ranging from movie screenings, infotainment to&nbsp;skilling of youths of Kashmir Valley.&nbsp;

"We are making these multipurpose cinema halls in every district of Jammu and Kashmir. We had handed over this cinema hall to the youth of Pulwama and now I am going to Shopian where another multipurpose cinema hall is ready and I will be handing it over to the youth of Shopian. You will see in future it will be in every district of Jammu and Kashmir. This was a part of Mission Youth and they have been working on it for some time now," said Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir, Manoj Sinha.&nbsp;

The Lieutenant Governor was accompanied by divisional commissioner Kashmir PK Pole, ADGP Kashmir Zone Police Vijay Kumar and several senior officers of police and civil administration. The government is planning to open many such Multipurpose cinema halls across the union territory.&nbsp;

"I think cinema is a great part of education. It would be beneficial for the students to learn so much from the visual medium on the big screen. I saw a cinema hall in Pulwama for the first time in my life. This is not only for entertainment but also for Infotainment and education of the youth. It's a great tool and we are extremely happy and thankful to the government for taking such initiatives," said Syed Abdul Mohsin Andrabi, Policy Researcher South Kashmir.&nbsp;

The students from South Kashmir were also very excited as they had never seen a big screen in their towns and districts. All cinema halls in Kashmir Valley were completely shut in the early 1990s after the start of the insurgency. The youth of the valley never got to see films on big screen after that. The youngsters in South Kashmir were excited over the new multipurpose screens.&nbsp;

"We are extremely happy that something like this has been made available for the youth of Shopian. We have never seen a film on the big screen, and it was our first time. We enjoyed it thoroughly," said a girl student in South Kashmir's Pulwama district.&nbsp;

Each of these theatres have a capacity of 50 and would be used for various activities. The government plans to open such multipurpose cinema halls in every district of Jammu and Kashmir.

Kashmir Valley's first multiplex is all set to open on September 20. The LG of Jammu and Kashmir, Manoj Sinha, will Inaugurate the multiplex. With the opening of this multiplex, Kashmiris will get a chance to see movies on the big screen after more than three decades. The valley used to be one of the most favourite destinations for Bollywood directors to shoot.&nbsp;

But with the start of the insurgency, the trend of film shootings stopped in the valley, and also the cinema halls in the valley were completely shut. Kashmir had around 15 cinema&nbsp;halls and all of them were closed decades ago. The owners of the multiplex believe&nbsp;that all those cinemas, which were closed down, should be revived.&nbsp;

''It is after 32 years that cinema is returning to Kashmir. It's a historic day and We are extremely happy personally, We used to contribute during our college&nbsp;days to go to see a movie, and now 50 percent of the people In Kashmir valley are those who must not have seen a movie in theatre. We want all these facilities to be provided to people here, which they get in Delhi and Mumbai or any other city. All those old cinemas need to be revived. I am very sure that all the people will be entertained here,'' said Vijay Dhar, owner of Multiplex Kashmir.&nbsp;

The multiplex would be inaugurated by the LG Manoj Sinha which will be followed by a film screening. The&nbsp;Multiplex&nbsp;located in Srinagar's Shivpora area will have three screens and a total seating capacity of around 520 people. The building is built as any&nbsp;Multiplex&nbsp;but with a touch of Kashmir in it. The owners have incorporated Kashmiri Traditional 'Khatamband'&nbsp;Ceiling&nbsp;and Paper Machine designs. And it will be thrown open for people in the month of September.&nbsp;There is a lot of excitement for the opening in Srinagar city.&nbsp;

Azad is in J&amp;K to float his new political party and has been continuously holding rallies&nbsp;across various districts of the union territory.&nbsp;

The threat letter stated that ''the entry of political chameleon Gh. Nabi Azad into J&amp;K’s state politics is not an abrupt move but a well-planned move which was discussed and planned way back during his tenure in his previous political party. Before changing guards and moving to the valley, this political chameleon Azad had a detailed closed-door meeting with (Union home minister) Amit Shah and some reliable sources also say that NSA Doval was also called in another closed-door meeting.''

The letter further stated that the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is using displaced Kashmiri Pandits for its political agenda and Ghulam Nabi is part of the plan B of the Centre.

While addressing a rally in Srinagar, Azad responded to the threat letter saying, "I just heard that there is a threat letter against me from militants. They said that before coming to Kashmir I met Amit Shah and Doval. I have never met Doval in my life, I swear by Allah. When I was in the parliament, I met all the political leaders,'' Azad said.

The veteran leader also appealed to terrorists to give up their arms and join the mainstream.&nbsp;

''Those who have picked up the gun, I appeal to them that guns are not the solution. It only spreads destruction. India is the biggest democracy. We are the nation of Gandhi,'' he said.

Addressing the issue of dilution of Article 370 through which Jammu and Kashmir's special status was revoked, Azad said that there is only one way of bringing back the legislation "if someone convinces PM Modi".

J&K: Ghulam Nabi Azad reacts to threat letter from terrorists, denies having any links with BJP

In India,&nbsp;at least 12&nbsp;people&nbsp;were killed and over a dozen were&nbsp;injured in an accident after a passenger bus fell&nbsp;into a gorge in the Poonch area of Jammu. Reports suggested that an overloaded minibus skidded off the road and fell into a very deep gorge early morning in the Poonch district. Five people are critically injured and they are&nbsp;airlifted to the government hospital in Jammu.&nbsp;

Officials said the accident occurred near the Brari Ballah Sawjian area after the driver of the bus bearing number JK12-1419 lost control. The Bus skidded off the road and rolled several hundred meters into the gorge. Jammu and Kashmir’s LG Manoj Sinha expressed grief over the incident and announced ex gratia relief.&nbsp;

"Saddened by loss of lives due to a road accident in Sawjian, Poonch. Condolences to bereaved families. May the injured recover soon. Rs. 5 lakhs would be given to the next of kin of deceased. Directed Police and Civil authorities to provide best possible treatment to the injured," said LG Manoj Sinha.&nbsp;

With improvement in the security situation in the Kashmir Valley, the Indian Navy has revived the Naval training for National Cadets Corps (NCC) after a gap of 33 years. Over 100 cadets of the NCC attended the training on the Manasbal Lake in central Kashmir's Ganderbal district.&nbsp;

The first training activity has been organised for 100 senior NCC cadets, boys and girls, from all districts of the Union territory. The camp will be running till September 26 and prepare the cadets for the forthcoming national level NCC camp at Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh commencing on October 2.&nbsp;

"The Naval training camps have a number of activities, but this one is specially preparing cadets of J&amp;K and Ladakh for the upcoming national level NCC camp at Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh commencing on October 2. These cadets are being trained in boat pulling, sailing, ship modelling and signalling. All of them are very important naval training activities. I have no doubt that all the youth who are going to see these events upfront, or through the media in Kashmir will get motivated,'' added Brigadier Kalsi.

Kashmir is gifted with numerous water bodies and with Manasbal training facility, the NCC cadets of Kashmir will not require to travel to Jammu for training and this will be a big motivation for students to volunteer for NCC. The cadets were extremely happy that the camp is being organised in the valley after decades.

''This training camp has been organised in the valley after a long time, a lot of children from various colleges have come from various parts of the Union territory. I would want other children to come and be a part of these camps. We are being trained in boat pulling, swimming, sailing, and drills. The Navy officers motivate us to join the Indian Navy,'' said Ovais Rashid, a cadet.&nbsp;

The main reason for these cadets to volunteer for the training camps is to join the Indian armed forces like Army, Navy, and Air Force.&nbsp;

''It's a great opportunity for us to be a part of this camp. Due to security reasons, these camps were not held in the Kashmir valley but now they have been restarted and we will get to learn a lot. I want to join the Indian Navy and that's why I have joined NCC,'' said Kiran Chaudhary, a cadet.

In the last three decades, the training was mostly provided to these cadets at Nagrota and Mansar lake in the Jammu region due to terrorist activities, causing huge inconvenience to the cadets from Kashmir Valley.&nbsp;

I am sure these film people shooting here will open new avenues and greatly benefit tourism,'' added Hafeez&nbsp;.&nbsp;

Under the new Film Policy, the Jammu and Kashmir government has put the permission system under Public Service Guarantee Act (PSGA). The JK administration has to give permission to filmmakers within a stipulated time of 30 days. A single window system has also been put in place to make it easier for the producers. The filmmakers can apply for permission online.&nbsp;

The government is also providing these filmmakers with incentives to shoot at various locations across the Valley. The local filmmakers of the Valley are happy that Kashmir is progressing, and local artists will also get a chance to work on these projects.&nbsp;

After the&nbsp;death of Queen Elizabeth II in England, tributes are pouring in for Britain's longest-serving monarch from across the world. People have shared their&nbsp;sadness on the passing away of the Queen. In Kashmir, a famous baker Sakib Mir has paid his tribute to the Queen in his own unique way.

Sakib, owner of Le Delice bakery in Srinagar, has made a cake in the shape of a crown,&nbsp;which signifies&nbsp;the queen and as the world knows that Queen Elizabeth II liked the dark chocolate, so he made sure the flavour is her favourite too.&nbsp;

'' It's my way of paying&nbsp;tribute to Queen Elizabeth. I made this cake in the form of a Crown and as you can see it's her favourite flavour which is dark chocolate. We have all grown with the story of the Royals and since I am a baker, I thought what better way to pay her a tribute&nbsp;than making her favourite&nbsp;flavoured cake,'' said Saqib Mir.&nbsp;

In the border village of North Kashmir's Gurez sector, close to the Line of Control, the Indian Army has set up a skill development centre to empower local women. The Indian Army has chosen the best location for the skill development centre overlooking the Habba Khatoon Peak in Gurez Valley. These women are being trained in various skills to make them independent.&nbsp;

Habba Khatoon known as 'The Nightingale of Kashmir' was a poet from the 16th century and holds great respect in Kashmir. And there could have been no better inspiration for these women. These women are taught various skills including computers, stitching and other skills.&nbsp;

The main motive of the Indian Army is to make the women independent so that they can start a business of their own. And the women attending these classes are thankful to the Indian Army for opening the skill development centre in Gurez valley.&nbsp;

"This is a great opportunity for us and will benefit all of us. Skill development is very important in a world, where everything is digital. Most of us had completed our studies and didn't have a job and now by this we are able to spend our time with each other and learn a skill. We are not wasting our time anymore and also becoming independent. It's a great platform provided by the Indian Army which has&nbsp;played a great role for the people living in far flung areas. We are highly thankful to the Indian Army," said Saima, a student.&nbsp;

The bordering villages of North Kashmir have faced a lot of violence due to continuous ceasefire violations from across the border for decades. Hundreds of people were killed and injured during these violations. Many houses and properties were damaged too. The&nbsp;local women have suffered a lot due to the volatile situation. These people are living a normal life finally after the ceasefire agreement between India and Pakistan last year.&nbsp;

The area generally gets cut off after the first snowfall in April and people, especially&nbsp;women, have not much to do.&nbsp;

"I want to thank the Indian Army for opening this centre. It gave us a great opportunity, we were sitting at home and not doing anything. We are learning various skills and the main thing is that we were not doing anything in winters and now we have a skill and an institute to come and learn and earn from," said Roshni, a student.&nbsp;

The Indian Army has been working hard to open such kinds of initiatives for the women living in these bordering areas. Many such centres have been opened in various sectors close to the Line of Control.&nbsp;

Indian Army opens skill development centre in Kashmir to empower women in border areas

Jammu and Kashmir Police said that they have killed two Ansar Ghazwat-ul-Hind (AGuH) terrorists in a brief chance encounter at the Thajiwara Bijbehara area of Anantnag.

The killed terrorists have been identified as Fayaz Ahmad Kumar alias Faheem Kumar, son of Mohammad Ramzan Kumar, and Owais Ahmad Khan, son of Ghulam Mohammad Khan. Both terrorists were residents of Waghama Bijbehara and were affiliated with the proscribed terror outfit AGuH.

They were also involved in an attack on police personnel Ghulam Qadir at Darashikon Park Bijbehara on 12/08/2022 in which he received grievous gunshot injuries. Besides, they were also involved in grenade lobbing incidents at Padshahibagh on 15/06/2022 and Sangam Chowk on 22/08/2022,” said a Jammu and Kashmir Police official.&nbsp;

The security forces also recovered arms, ammunition, and other incriminating materials from the encounter site. All the recovered material has been taken into case records for further investigation. In this connection, police have registered a case under relevant sections of law and an investigation has been initiated.

ADGP Kashmir Vijay Kumar congratulated Anantnag Police for carrying out the successful and swift encounter without any collateral damage.&nbsp;

The forward posts of the Indian&nbsp;Army on the Line of Control in North Kashmir are on the peaks of the Himalayan mountains. And not all these posts are connected by road. Some also get disconnected from the rest of the valley in winter due to snowfall.&nbsp;

The process of sending material to these forward posts is started in the months of April- May. If these mules had not been there,&nbsp;it would have been very difficult for the Indian Army to carry supplies and material to the posts in the higher reaches.&nbsp;

''The Border Posts of ours near the line of control&nbsp;are at a very high altitude and there are no roads to reach to some of them, there has been a lot of improvement&nbsp;in the road connectivity from the last few years. When the mountains are fully covered with several feet of snow, without these mules it's very difficult to live. These mules are the lifeline for the Indian Army as they carry all the supplies, arms and ammunition, construction and food material to these posts. We maintain these mules and we send them to different posts and areas depending on what is required where. We start the process in the months of April-May as the snow starts to melt, we carry on these tasks till the first snowfall in October-November. Any other movement during snowfall is impossible and there is only movement by helicopter services,'' said Rajesh Kumar, CO Military Field Veterinary Hospital.&nbsp;

These mules have been kept in the Indian Army to help carry material in areas which have no access to roads. The breeding of these mules is done in an army school and they are trained before being sent to the&nbsp;higher reaches. Some in the Army call these mules the unsung heroes of the Army. Special food is given to these mules so that they stay healthy and can easily carry out the given tasks. These supplies of around 5 months are carried by these mules to these forward posts.&nbsp;

'&nbsp;These mules have been kept by the Indian Army to reach places which have no roads.&nbsp;The supplies are carried till the area where there is road connectivity and then it is with the help of these mules that we carry supplies to the forward posts on the peaks of mountains. We train these mules in the Pattan area. We carry supplies for the next six months in these areas as they get cut off due to the snowfall. Have you ever thought about how the supplies like rations, arms and ammunition and construction material are sent to these posts? It is the Indian Army's Mules that carry all the material for months to these forward posts on top of the mountains. If these mules had not been there, it would have been very difficult for the Indian Army to carry supplies and material to the posts in the higher reaches. ''The Border Posts of ours near the line of control are at a very high altitude and there are no roads to reach to some of them, there has been a lot of improvement in the road connectivity from the last few years. When the mountains are fully covered with several feet of snow, without these mules it's very difficult to live. These mules are the lifeline for the Indian Army as they carry all the supplies, arms and ammunition, construction and food material to these posts. We maintain these mules and we send them to different posts and areas depending on what is required where. We start the process in the months of April-May as the snow starts to melt, we carry on these tasks till the first snowfall in October-November. Any other movement during snowfall is impossible and there is only movement by helicopter services,'' said Rajesh Kumar, CO Military Field Veterinary Hospital. These mules have been kept in the Indian Army to help carry material in areas which have no access to roads. The breeding of these mules is done in an army school and they are trained before being sent to the higher reaches. Some in the Army call these mules the unsung heroes of the Army. Special food is given to these mules so that they stay healthy and can easily carry out the given tasks. These supplies of around 5 months are carried by these mules to these forward posts. The change that happened in the last few years specially after Jammu Kashmir became a Union Territory, we have Mobile phone service here now. We are thankful to the Indian Army that our daughters are able to give online classes from Gurez. We are thankful to the Indian Army for opening Gurez as the tourist destination. Army is securing the area and are helping us to bring the tourists here and from the last two years we are finally getting a lot of tourists. And we are hopeful we will get more tourists in future, all the projects running here are because of the Indian army,'' said Ghulam Mohamad Lone, Sarpanch, Kanzalwan, Gurez.&nbsp;

There are dozens of new hotels and homestays that have opened in the Gurez Valley. The locals are converting their houses into homestays and allowing tourists to experience the culture and heritage of the Gurez Valley. All these hoteliers and guest house owners are profiting from the tourist arrivals. There are numerous camp sites across the Gurez valley run by the locals. The trekkers from across the world have been visiting and hiking the mountains of the himalayan region. &nbsp;

''We opened in the month of May and we have been able to do a business of around 9 lakh rupees. All the hotels and guest houses were booked. This place had ceasefire violations, shelling but from the last few years it has become peaceful, and it has also become a tourist hub. We are sure our future is bright and there is a lot of talent here. Kashmir is the real heaven and now people are finding new places in the valley to visit. We could have not done anything without the help of the Indian army. The army interacted with the tourists and gave them a different experience of the place,'' said Mohsin Lone, hotelier.&nbsp;

The Tourism department has been holding festivals and promoting these destinations through road shows and campaigning across India. Earlier, people required permission to go to Gurez valley from administration and security forces, which is not required anymore.&nbsp;

We want to showcase the culture and ethnic varieties of the Gurez to the tourists from across the country and world. It's a paradise of ethnic varieties. We have done it. Two terrorists were killed in an encounter in South Kashmir's Anantnag district. The encounter broke out in South Kashmir’s Pushkari Kanilwan village between terrorists and security forces resulting in the killing of two terrorists. The operation is still underway.&nbsp;

Jammu and Kashmir Police said that a joint team of Police, the Indian army, and CRPF received a tip-off about the presence of terrorists in the area after which a cordon and search operation was launched. While the forces approached close to the spot where the terrorists were hiding, the terrorists started shooting at the forces resulting in a gun battle.&nbsp;
