Around seven national and regional parties including National Conference, Congress, PDP, CPI, CPI(M), ANC and Shiv Sena leaders were present in the meeting. Farooq Abdullah said '' We had called for today’s meeting as the announcement was made by the Election Commision about inclusion of outsiders in the voting list. The identity of Kashmiris, Dogras, Sikhs etc is under attack and if this decision is taken it will make sure that outsiders control the assembly in Jammu and Kashmir, and We don’t accept this decision at all".

Farooq Abdullah said that India took two hundred years to get freedom from the British and in the same manner we will fight till the end. Whether we are alive or not the people will fight for their rights. He also said that by bringing in these laws, the people who are outsiders here and have come for work to Jammu and Kashmir are being made soft targets.&nbsp;

These National parties would be apprised of the situation in the Union Territory as well as the issues prevailing in Jammu and Kashmir. I want to say to the nation that BJP is not doing anything in the interest of the nation, they are just doing what they aim to do. They have subverted national interest. Rigging has become part and parcel of the BJP now. They are using money and power for it,'' said former chief minister Mehbooba Mufti.&nbsp;

Reacting&nbsp;to the decision, former chief minister of Jammu and Kashmir Omar Abdullah said that BJP is insecure about the support from genuine voters of Jammu and Kashmir. ''Is the BJP so insecure about support from genuine voters of J&amp;K that it needs to import temporary voters to win seats? None of these things will help the BJP when the people of J&amp;K are given a chance to exercise their franchise, '' said Omar.&nbsp;

In order&nbsp;to revive and make the younger generation aware of the art, craft and heritage of Kashmir, a century-old property in Srinagar's Aali Kadal area has been converted into an art centre and a museum.&nbsp;

An initiative by the Help foundation 'Bait Ul Meeras' is one of the biggest art centres and museums in the Kashmir Valley. The property is a four-storey heritage house completely showcasing the rich architecture of the Valley.&nbsp; It has hundreds of century old artefacts on display from traditional dresses to utensils, clothing, craft, jewellery and other artefacts. It took them more than a year to put together these artefacts for the display.&nbsp;

''To educate the youth about the rich heritage of Jammu and Kashmir, we started the Bait Ul Meeras <a href="https://www.wionews.com/entertainment/lifestyle/news-geode-bright-swirl-two-toned-french-and-other-stunning-nail-art-trends-of-2022-507143">art</a>&nbsp;and culture centre. Under the guidance of Nighat Shafi, chairman of Help Foundation,&nbsp;we were able to create a space for the people to work on their creative sides. We not only display the heritage artefacts here but also showcase artisans making Kashmiri craft products like carpets, shawls and pottery. The only motive for us coming here is to make children of the valley aware about the rich heritage we have had. Our kids hardly have any idea about the history of the valley, and to show them what we were and what we had is the main focus. From our costumes to our utensils to jewellery, we have put up everything,'' said Hakim Javid, Coordinator.&nbsp;

Bait Ul Meeras has also opened doors to the locals to donate or showcase their valuable collections of old artefacts. Some of the heritage ornaments and utensils have been donated by the people, especially young students. The staff keeps looking for artefacts from across the valley that can be put on display.&nbsp;

''We are inviting school students to come and visit the centre and we have had a great response. Some children have donated stuff towards the centre that belonged to their grandparents or had it in the family. And that shows how much these youngsters are interested in saving the history and preserving it for the next generation to see as well. We are also holding workshops for the children, from writing to painting to showing them how artisans work on Kashmir crafts.,'' said Hakim Javid, Coordinator.

The rare artefacts on display in the museum are centuries old and hold a great historical value. Students come for workshops over the weekend and storytelling sessions are held in the centre too. When the foundation had approached the owner of the property to open such a space in this heritage house, he had shown keen interest too.&nbsp;

''I own the property and I took care of the infrastructure; the rest was done by the help foundation. It feels extremely nice when I see young kids visiting the place with their parents. It's a great effort and people should come forward and help them as well. In the border villages of North Kashmir's Kupwara district, close to the Line of Control, the Indian Army has started various initiatives to empower women in the area.

Dozens of women in the remote village of Dudi Macchil in the district, are being trained to make sanitary pads. The Indian Army and an NGO have set up a sanitary pad&nbsp;manufacturing unit there.&nbsp;These sanitary pads&nbsp;are fully&nbsp;biodegradable and are made on machines with simple technology which women can learn to operate very quickly.

''A comprehensive training was organised for women from the village who were trained in manufacturing pads&nbsp; as well as maintenance of the machines. Women actively took part in the training and started the production of sanitary pads successfully. These pads will be used by the schoolgirls from Government Higher Secondary School, Dudi and Army Goodwill School, Raghavan, '' said Brigadier Vinod Singh Negi, Indian Army, Maccchil.

The Indian Army and the NGO also installed sanitary pad&nbsp;vending machines and incinerators (a furnace for burning waste) in these schools. The women of the area will make a livelihood as per the daily production. This project will promote menstrual health awareness and hygiene in the region as well.&nbsp;

A man from the minority Kashmiri Pandit community was shot dead and his brother injured in another targetted attack on civilians by the terrorists in Shopian district on Tuesday.

According to the police, the terrorists fired upon the civilians in an apple orchard in Chotipora area.&nbsp;So far, 22 civilians&nbsp;have been killed in the Kashmir valley this year.

The deceased has been identified as Sunil Kumar, while his brother Pintu Kumar is undergoing medical treatment.

Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha condemned the attack in a tweet, saying that the terrorists responsible for the act won’t be spared.

"Pained beyond words on despicable terror attack on civilians in Shopian. My thoughts are with the family of Sunil Kumar. Praying for speedy recovery of injured. The attack deserves strongest condemnation from everyone. Terrorists responsible for barbaric act will not be spared," office of the L-G J&amp;K tweeted.

Former chief&nbsp;Minister of Jammu and Kashmir Mehbooba Mufti, too,&nbsp;deplored the attack and said that the central government's claim of normalcy in the valley is "farce".&nbsp;

''Terribly sorry to hear about the targeted killing in Shopian. Condolences to the deceased’s family. GOI continues to behave like an ostrich with its head buried deep under the sand. Every resident of J&amp;K has become cannon fodder in Delhi’s quest for ‘manufactured normalcy,'' said Mufti.

There have been a spate of targetted killings by the terrorists in the Kashmir valley over the past week. On Sunday, a policeman was killed in Nowhatta and a migrant labourer in Bandipora last week.

A joint cordon and search operation has been started by the forces in the area after the attack. &nbsp;

Two grenade attacks took place in Budgam and Srinagar districts on Monday.

The migrant labourer's killing comes days ahead of the India’s Independence Day celebrations.&nbsp;This is the second incident in the Kashmir Valley in the last 10 days where a migrant labourer was shot dead by terrorists. Earlier, a labourer was killed in South Kashmir's Pulwama district.&nbsp;

The family members of the deceased said that they heard some gunshots&nbsp;around midnight and when they went out to see, they found Amrez lying in a pool of blood.&nbsp;

"It happened around 12.20 am.&nbsp;My brother wasn't present in the room and at the same time, we heard some gunshots outside.&nbsp;When we went out to search for him, we found him lying in a pool of blood. We also informed the Indian Army.&nbsp;He died on the way to the hospital,'' said Mohammad Tamzeed, brother of Amrez.

The Jammu and Kashmir Government has taken the responsibility of sending the corpse of the deceased to his native village. Meanwhile, other migrant labourers are seeking strict punishment&nbsp;for those responsible for the killings.

''We have been working in Kashmir for the last 5 years, every now and then a labourer is killed here. We are requesting everyone to not do something like this, we come here for work. We want the killers to be punished,'' said Mohammad Akbar, brother of the killed labourer.

Jammu and Kashmir Police have initiated an inquiry into the killing of the labourer.&nbsp;So far, 22 civilians have been killed in various terror incidents across the valley in 2022.&nbsp;

The latest attack comes a day after four soldiers were killed by terrorists who struck at an Army camp in the Rajouri district.

The two attackers, believed to be from Pakistan-based Jaish-e-Mohammed, were gunned down in the shootout after the pre-dawn suicide strike that marked the return of 'fidayeen' to Jammu and Kashmir after more than three years.

The sentries challenged the two terrorists who threw grenades while attempting to gain entry inside the post. However alert troops cordoned the area and engaged them in a gunfight.&nbsp;

The former chief minister of Jammu and Kashmir Omar Abdullah also condemned the attack and said: “Very sorry to hear about the death in the line of duty of three soldiers following a militant attack in Rajouri. I send my condolences to the families &amp; my prayers for the swift recovery of those officers and&nbsp;jawans injured in the attack on Rajouri.”

The terrorists have not been identified as yet but sources in the forces say that they were carrying a huge cache of arms and ammunition to carry out the suicide attack. The Jammu and Kashmir Police had said that the "terrorists tried to cross the fence of the Army camp at Pargal in Darhal area of Rajouri. Exchange of fire took place. Additional parties despatched for the location, 6 km from Darhal PS,"&nbsp;said Mukesh Singh, ADGP, Jammu Zone.&nbsp;

Suicide attack in Kashmir's Rajouri; three army soldiers killed

In an encounter that started earlier today (August 10), a top terrorist of Lashkar-e-Taiba&nbsp;(TRF) Lateef Rather was killed along with two other terrorists of the group. Rather was an A++ category terrorist and was active since 2001.

Rather was also involved in the killings of TV actress Ambreen Bhat and Kashmiri pandit Rahul Bhat in May. According to Jammu and Kashmir police, Rather was a recycled terrorist and was the right hand of Abu Qasim, who had in 2013 carried out an attack in the Hyderpora area of Srinagar in which eight soldiers were killed.

"An important operation was conducted&nbsp;today in Budgam district with inputs from Srinagar. All the three terrorists were killed and the most important was the killing of Lateef Rather. All the terrorists who were involved in the civilian killings have been neutralised and only one is left," said ADGP Vijay Kumar, Kashmir Police.&nbsp;

Jammu and Kashmir Police also said that around 80 local terrorists are still active in the Valley, while security forces also believe that there are 45-50 foreign terrorists across Kashmir.&nbsp;

With today's encounter, 130 terrorists have been killed in the Kashmir division. "Hybrid terrorists are not a challenge for us anymore, It was a challenge in the beginning. We have managed to break the hybrid terror code," said ADGP Vijay Kumar, Kashmir Police.&nbsp;

Jammu and Kashmir Police also said that the pistols recovered from the hybrid terrorists this year have been Turkish-made.&nbsp;

In an ongoing encounter in Central Kashmir's Budgam district, Jammu and Kashmir police claim that terrorists were involved in the killing of TV actress Ambreen Bhat and Kashmiri Pandit Rahul Bhat are trapped at the operation site.

An encounter started earlier today between terrorists and security forces in the Waterhail area of Central Kashmir's Budgam district. Jammu and Kashmir police say three terrorists are holed up at the encounter site. The terrorists belonging to the LeT(TRF) terror outfit are trapped. And the terrorist Lateef, involved in the killing of TV actress Ambreen Bhat and Kashmiri Pandit Rahul Bhat,&nbsp;was among the three terrorists trapped at the site.

''Encounter has started at Waterhail area of Budgam. 03 terrorists from the terror group LeT (TRF), including terrorist Lateef Rather, are caught up in an ongoing battle. Terrorist Lateef is involved in several civilian killings including Rahul Bhat &amp; Amreen Bhat," said Vijay Kumar, ADGP Kashmir Police.

The security forces had received input about the presence of the terrorists in the area, after which a cordon and search operation was launched by a joint team of RR, Police, and CRPF. The terrorists fired on the forces while they were close to the site where terrorists were hiding, resulting in a gun battle.

Jammu and Kashmir have witnessed 78 encounters so far in the year 2022. Security forces have killed 127 terrorists during these encounters and among them were 33 Pakistani terrorists. Kashmir also witnessed the killings of 20 Civilians this year. Security forces also lost 16 soldiers in various terror incidents.&nbsp;

Encounter in Budgam district, killers of TV actress and Kashmiri pandit trapped

The women from a small hamlet in North Kashmir’s Kupwara district are making handmade embroidered Indian National Flags. These flags would be unfurled in homes and offices across India for the "Har Ghar Tiranga" Campaign on the 75th Independence Day. These flags are unique as the Ashoka Chakra on these flags has been done using the traditional Kashmiri crewel artisanship.&nbsp;

Around 50 women in Kawari and Kunan Poshpora village have come together for this initiative supported by the Indian Army. They are working day and night to make these flags as the orders are pouring in. &nbsp;

“I want to thank Indian Army who helped me with setting up the centre. They have provided me with all the stuff like stitching machines and raw material. I am extremely proud that I have started my work by making Indian National Flag. I am extremely happy; our Indian army soldiers lay their life for this National pride, and I am able to make it. The army gave me everything to start this initiative. I make around 100 flags in day , these days we are working very hard as we have a huge order to complete. I work for 12 hours and when I reach home I still keep working till midnight. Earlier, these flags were not made in Kupwara and when they gave me the order it was a proud feeling. I am supplying it to Kupwara at the moment and now I want to send them across India. I want these flags to be hoisted in every house of India," said Nazima Samundar, Centre Head.&nbsp;

For the “Har Ghar Tiranga” campaign, tri-colour flags are being made across the country, but the ones made by these women stand out. The handwork done on these flags sets them apart from the rest and that is one of the reasons that the demand for these flags has gone up. One woman is able to make one or two embroidered Ashoka Chakra’s in a day.&nbsp;

“It was the Idea of Indian Army CO along with our chairman to put crewel hand work on the Indian National Flag. We were given a target to make them, and we continue to make. We make two chakras with handwork every day. We are around 30 girls here and we are making 60 flags. We want our artisanship to reach every house of India. &nbsp;Our workmanship on the flag is very unique and completely hand work of our artisans," said Sabika Nazir.&nbsp;

These women with the help of Indian Army are all ready to venture into e-commerce and put up their products for internet users across the world.&nbsp;
