Iran’s supreme leader Khamenei vows ‘tooth-breaking’ retaliation against Israel and US for recent attacks

Iran's supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, pledged on Saturday (Nov 2) to retaliate against Israel and the United States for their attacks on Tehran and its allied groups across the region.
Khamenei,85, delivered his comments during a speech to students, ahead of the anniversary marking the 1979 United States embassy takeover in Tehran by radical students.
Khamenei said, "The enemies, both the USA and the Zionist regime, should know that they will definitely receive a tooth-breaking response to what they are doing against Iran, the Iranian nation, and the resistance front."
He referred to Tehran’s network of allied armed factions, which includes Yemen's Houthi rebels, Lebanon's Hezbollah, and the Palestinian militant group Hamas. He did not specify when any retaliatory action might take place or what it would involve.
Previously, Khamenei had spoken with more caution, suggesting that Iran’s response would be carefully considered. He had remarked that Israel’s recent strikes “should not be exaggerated nor downplayed.”

On October 26, Israel launched extensive strikes on Iranian military bases in areas like Ilam, Khuzestan, and Tehran, reportedly hitting around 20 sites over several hours.
Israel described its air strikes as a reaction to a major missile assault by Iran on October 1. The Iranian strike, involving around 200 missiles, followed several Israeli attacks in previous months that targeted and killed figures in Hezbollah, Hamas, and Iran’s military.
On Saturday, Khamenei also met with university students to mark Students' Day, commemorating the November 4, 1978, incident when soldiers opened fire on students protesting the rule of the shah at Tehran University.
He said that Iran was “certainly doing everything that should be done to prepare the Iranian nation, whether in terms of military, in terms of weapons, or in terms of political work,” without going into specifics.
