Dublin-New York live streaming 'portal' reopens after updates

A transatlantic live video "portal" between Dublin and New York Cityresumed operations after being shut down due to incidents of misconduct. The portal, which allows real-time interaction between individuals in both cities, had to be temporarily closed less than a week after its launch.
Dublin City Council announced that the live stream would now operate during specific hours, from 11:00 to 21:00 local time in Dublin and from 06:00 to 16:00 EDT in New York. The portal will not be working 24/7.
The portal, a project by Lithuanian artist Benediktas Gylys, features large circular screens in both cities aimed at fostering a sense of connection between distant places.
However, reports emerged of users engaging in inappropriate behavior, including displaying swear words, flashing body parts, and even broadcasting footage of the 9/11 attacks.

After the updates to the portal were made, organisers issued a joint statement saying that the portal is not meant to be touched or stepped upon and announced measures to prevent such incidents, including triggering a blurring of the livestream if the camera lens is obstructed.

"If individuals step on the Portal and obstruct the camera, it will trigger a blurring of the livestream for everyone on both sides of the Atlantic. The team will continue making updates as needed to ensure that everyone can continue to enjoy the Portal," the organiser said.

The live video "portal" was reopened along Fifth Avenue and 23rd Street in Dublin, with authorities and organisers pledging to make necessary updates to ensure a positive experience for users on both sides of the Atlantic.
