Choose ripe, fresh olives for the best flavour. Ensure they are clean and free from any damage or rot.

Thoroughly wash the olives to remove dirt and debris. Pat them dry with a clean cloth or paper towel.

Use a food processor to crush the olives into a paste. This process releases the oil from the olives.

Transfer the olive paste into a bowl and mix it thoroughly for about 30-40 minutes. This helps the oil droplets to coalesce and separate from the solids.

Place the olive paste in a clean cloth or cheesecloth and press it to extract the liquid, which contains both oil and water. You can use a manual press or your hands for this step.

Pour the extracted liquid into a container and let it sit for a few hours. The oil will naturally rise to the top, while the water and solids will settle at the bottom.

Carefully skim the oil from the top using a spoon or ladle. Be sure to avoid mixing in the water or sediment from the bottom.

Transfer the freshly extracted olive oil into a clean, airtight bottle or jar.

With eight Ballon d’Or titles, the Argentina skipper is one of the greatest players of all time with three more than nearest rival Cristiano Ronaldo on the list.

Playing in a team with some of the greatest midfielders ever in Xavi and Andres Iniesta, Messi of course, outshone Barcelona's chief creators while also outscoring everyone in his path. Xavi retired with 129 La Liga assists, which is still a considerable way off Messi's 192.

In an era where Messi and Ronaldo were doing their unworldly best to one-up each other in La Liga, the levels went through the roof. Ronaldo ran him close when he scored 48 goals in 2014/15, but even that firing rate wasn't enough to eclipse Messi's 50 league goals in 2011/12. If he can't do it, nobody can.

To put this one into context, Alan Shearer leads the way for Premier League goals scored with 260. Messi has almost double that over in La Liga. And no, the quality of league is not at play here. 474 goals is frankly a ridiculous firing rate no matter where you score them.

Nine goals away from scoring 100 goals within a 365 day period. That is truly unfathomable numbers. Producing the mesmerising feat in 2012, nobody has come close to Messi's 91-goal year since. Still sitting in second place is Gerd Muller, who scored 85 goals in 1972.

Criticising Europe's most potent finisher for winning 206 caps is laughable. This is especially the case when you consider that there has never been another player to reach a double century in football history.

Arguably the greatest marksman to ever play the game, Ronaldo has an astonishing 128 goals for his country, having scored in his teens, his twenties and his thirties.

He left Europe having scored 140 goals in the Champions League, more than the likes of Lionel Messi and Robert Lewandowski. Kylian Mbappe is currently the biggest threat to this crown given how much of his career is left to pan out, but even the French superstar still has 92 goals left to just tie with his idol.

Cementing his legacy as one of the greatest of all time, the goalscoring machine left Madrid almost a decade later having scored 450 times in just 438 appearances.

5. Most European Championship Tournaments – 5

Ronaldo’s first Euro came in 2004 but ended in heartbreak. Underdogs Greece shocked the host nation to cause an unlikely upset in the final. Fast forward 12 years, and this time it was Ronaldo's turn to be the underdog.

With 42 titles, Mumbai remain the most successful team in the history of the Ranji Trophy, which is also India’s oldest domestic competition. Interestingly, the second-most successful side on the list is Karnataka with eight titles.

The record for the highest team total in Ranji Trophy belongs to Hyderabad. During the 1993/94 Ranji Trophy season, the Kanwaljit Singh-led Hyderabad side posted 944/6d.

The record for the lowest team total in Ranji Trophy belongs to Hyderabad. In November 2010, Rajasthan rode on the back of Deepak Chahar’s 8/10 to dismiss Hyderabad for a paltry total of 21 runs.

Former Vidarbha and Mumbai batter Wasim Jaffer has scored the most runs in Ranji Trophy history and by some miles. The former cricketer, whose domestic career spanned between 1996 to 2020, aggregated 12,038 runs in Ranji Trophy.

Bhausaheb Nimbalkar’s knock of unbeaten 443 while playing for Maharashtra against Saurashtra during the 1948/49 Ranji Trophy season is the highest individual score in the tournament.

Bay leaves are a versatile ingredient used in cooking for their subtle, aromatic flavour. Here’s how you can use them in various recipes:

Just add 1-2 bay leaves to your soup or stew at the beginning of cooking. Let them simmer with the dish to infuse their flavour.

Add a bay leaf to the water when cooking rice or pilaf. It adds a mild earthy flavour to biryani, pulao, and other seasoned rice dishes.

Simmer bay leaves in tomato or cream-based sauces. Remove before serving. It tastes best in marinara sauce, béchamel sauce, or gravies.

You can also add bay leaf when cooking beans or lentils to enhance their flavour. Rajma (kidney beans), dal makhani, and other legume-based dishes will taste good with bay leaves.
