With 42 titles, Mumbai remain the most successful team in the history of the Ranji Trophy, which is also India’s oldest domestic competition. Interestingly, the second-most successful side on the list is Karnataka with eight titles.

2. Highest team total in Ranji Trophy

The record for the highest team total in Ranji Trophy belongs to Hyderabad. During the 1993/94 Ranji Trophy season, the Kanwaljit Singh-led Hyderabad side posted 944/6d. 

3. Lowest team total in Ranji Trophy

The record for the lowest team total in Ranji Trophy belongs to Hyderabad. In November 2010, Rajasthan rode on the back of Deepak Chahar’s 8/10 to dismiss Hyderabad for a paltry total of 21 runs.

Bhausaheb Nimbalkar’s knock of unbeaten 443 while playing for Maharashtra against Saurashtra during the 1948/49 Ranji Trophy season is the highest individual score in the tournament.
