The US Justice department is deliberating whether Boeing can avoid criminal charges for breaching a 2021 settlement linked to the 737 max 8 crashes in 2018 and 2019. Although a decision is expected by month-end, prosecutors have not yet finalized their stance. Options include a deferred prosecution agreement or a plea deal where Boeing would admit wrongdoing and possibly appoint an independent monitor to oversee safety protocols.
