The confrontation between the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government in Punjab and the Akal Takht—the highest temporal seat of Sikhism—has reached a boiling point. Following a series of legislative disputes, the officiating Jathedar, Giani Kuldeep Singh Gargaj, has issued a 10-day ultimatum to the Punjab government to halt what he described as a "defamatory campaign" against Sikh institutions being carried out by "outsiders" on social media.
