Pakistan's last-ditch effort for an IMF loan

Cash strapped Pakistan is still hopeful of an international monetary fund package. And in a last ditch effort to secure the loan, it is planning to introduce new taxes to appease the international fund. Pakistan plans to introduce new taxes and raise revenue by $750 million, just days before the new financial year begins on July 1. With the new tax proposals, Pakistan expects to secure at least 1.1 billion dollars in funding.
