Myanmar’s military has launched the second phase of its three part elections across 100 townships despite ongoing civil war and security threats. The polls come after the 2021 coup that ousted Aung San Suu Kyi’s elected government, with critics saying the vote is designed to legitimise military rule after opposition parties were dissolved and large areas excluded from voting.
