India seen as relative safe haven amid U.S.-China trade war

Global investors are once again looking to shelter in Indian assets as a relatively safe haven as the US-China trade conflict intensifies following Trump’s tariff bombshell. Since the April 2 tariff onslaught, an MSCI index of Indian stocks has fallen by less than 3%, which is almost half of the fall in an index of Asian counterparts. Indian stocks have outperformed Asian peers for six weeks now.
