India Promotes Ethanol Instead of Petrol
India has taken another step to promote alternative fuels by removing excise duty on petrol blended with higher levels of ethanol. According to a government notification, petrol containing between 22 percent and 30 percent ethanol will now be exempt from excise duty. The tax exemption is expected to encourage greater production and availability of higher ethanol blends in the future.
