Guyana ferry capsizes with 116 aboard, 53 rescued as search continues

The MV Barima, carrying 116 passengers and crew, capsized late Saturday night near Iron Punt in the Pomeroon River while en route from Georgetown to Port Kaituma. A distress signal triggered an immediate emergency response, with Guyana's Defence Force, Coast Guard and private vessels joining the search. Prime Minister Mark Phillips is personally overseeing the operation.
