Israel has started its aerial and ground offensive in Rafah even as it calls it a "limited operation". Meanwhile, Israel sees no sign of a breakthrough in Egyptian-mediated talks on a cease-fire in Gaza but is still keeping its delegation of negotiators at the Cairo meeting. It has raised fears that the long-threatened, full-scale offensive into the city could be imminent.
