At the beginning of his trial, a former German soldier acknowledged he had spied for Russia, claiming he did it to prevent the conflict in Ukraine from getting worse. "It was incorrect. "I maintain my stance," declared the accused, identified solely as Thomas H., who is at the core of multiple espionage investigations unearthed in Germany following Russia's aggression against Ukraine in February 2022.
