Due to escalating expenses, the government of Alberta withdrew support from a bid to host the Commonwealth Games in 2030. The anticipated cost was C$2.7 billion (£1.5 billion; $2 billion), according to Tourism and Sport Minister Joseph Schow, making it "too high for the province to bear."
