Bali: The day of silence is observed each year after the new moon in March
The Hindu-majority island of Bali marked the new year with an annual Day of Silence. As part of six days of extensive rituals, airports closed for 24 hours the internet was completely cut, streets were deserted on the Day of Silence locally known as Nyepi.
