Air India Crash: Air India Flight AI171, a Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner, crashed after takeoff from Ahmedabad, en route to London, with a large loss of life on board and on the ground. Vishwakumar was seated near an emergency exit and escaped moments before a catastrophic explosion after the Ahmedabad crash, describing a broken door and a narrow path to safety amid flames. He sustained burns but survived, while many others perished.
