China is stepping in to support Africa’s Great Green Wall, a massive 7,700km project aimed at combating desertification in the Sahara. Launched by the African Union in 2007, the initiative has struggled due to funding shortages and political instability. Beijing, already a leader in global greening efforts, now seeks to pair ecological restoration with economic incentives.
