Africa: Burundi Overwhelmed as Tens of Thousands Flee Congo Violence

Over 84,000 refugees have fled violence in the Democratic Republic of Congo into neighbouring Burundi this month, marking the second major influx this year. The UN says the surge has overwhelmed Burundi, one of the world’s poorest countries, with camps facing cholera cases and long food queues. Fighting continues despite a U.S.-brokered peace deal between Congo and Rwanda.
