<p>Zeenat Aman took a trip down memory lane and shared a still from her iconic song "Dum Maaro Dum" from the 1971 film <em>Hare Rama Hare Krishna </em>on Instagram. In the caption, she revealed that she was stoned for the most part of the song's shooting because Dev Anand wanted "authenticity" in the song.</p>

<p>“We were in Kathmandu shooting Hare Rama Hare Krishna, and Dev Saab had rounded up a gaggle of hippies from the streets to be featured in the song. Which song? The picture is a dead giveaway - Dum Maro Dum of course!” wrote the veteran actress.</p>

<p>She added, “The hippy extras were delighted with their good fortune. They were not only getting to pack their chillums with hashish in beautiful Nepal, they were also getting free food, going to feature in a Bollywood movie, and were being paid to boot!”</p>

And the easiest way to achieve this was to partake in the hippy offerings! So there I was, still in my teens, gamely taking long pulls from their chillum for take after take. By the time we wrapped the day’s work, I was high as a kite! I was in no state to return to the hotel in that happy, dizzy, and slightly formless haze. So some of the team members packed me into a car and took me on a drive to a beautiful vantage point. There in the cold mountain air, I contemplated the Himalayas and slowly, peacefully came down from my high.”</p>

Zeenat Aman reveals getting 'stoned' during Dum Maaro Dum shoot

<p>Zeenat Aman recently ruffled some feathers as she called out the current state of fashion. In her latest Instagram post, she said that the designer outfits are mostly “unwearable”.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The veteran actress also shared details of the strong collaboration she developed with the “talented” Bhanu Athaiya in the course of her career.&nbsp;</p>

<p>In a new post, Zeenat shared a picture of herself wearing a designer outfit and wrote, “I’ve been blessed by the hand of many a genius in my life. The very best in not just cinema, but also fashion. The formidably talented Bhanu Athaiya, India’s first Academy award winner, designed my costumes for over 15 movies including<em> Satyam Shivam Sundaram</em>."</p>

<p>Zeenat added, "She was prolific and meticulous, and soon after our first partnership had a mannequin made to my measurements. It would stand in her studio, and on this inanimate bust she would actualise the fantastical ideas that appeared in her mind. I only had to pop in very occasionally for trials, an arrangement that was most suitable to my schedule.”</p>

One who finds most designer outfits unwearable! An impossibly wealthy friend of mine, with museumesque mansions in Dubai and London, would routinely gift me haute couture and then rue the fact that their fate was to moulder in my wardrobe. Perhaps one day I will have the wherewithal to wear them or repurpose them into new outfits more suitable to my taste.”</p>

Most designer outfits are 'unwearable' says Zeenat Aman

<p>Zeenat Aman is taking matters in her own hands. In her latest Instagram post, the veteran actress took a dig at brands that undervalue her and are still not ready to pay a legit amount for getting her on board after all these years.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Posing in a fiery red outfit, Zeenat Aman struck a pose in the picture. Alongwith the image, she wrote in the caption: “Thank you, but no thank you. I can't tell you my precise worth, but I do know when I'm being undervalued.”&nbsp;</p>

<h2><strong>Zeenat Aman called out brands who are not ready to give her due even now</strong></h2>

<p>She then went on to detail one of her “unpleasant” brand experiences and said, “Amidst the barrage of collaboration and appearance requests that materialise in my inbox each day, there are some that stand out for unpleasant reasons. Last minute invitations that the organiser forgot to edit (and which are addressed to another celebrity who must have declined) are mildly insulting. Impolite emails with minimal details and brusque ‘share commercials' are infuriating. And shady proposals to post stories or comments without the paid partnership tag are distasteful.”</p>

<p>Taking a dig at brands that offer “ludicrously low fees,” Zeenat Aman said, “Yet none of these compare to the impudence of multimillion-dollar brands that expect my endorsement in exchange for ‘brand association' and a ludicrously low fee.”</p>

<p>On how she is not fairly treated, she added, “Such luxury brands pay an eye-watering penny to their ambassadors (one of whom beautifully reprised a role I originally played), and sell even their most basic item for multiple lakhs of rupees.”</p>

<p>Zeenat&nbsp;Aman also mentioned that she is worth more than the price of a “designer handbag” or “high-heel shoe.”&nbsp;</p>

<p>She added, “I am over 70 years old, and I have held my own in this industry for over half a century. I work with what I know to be an unusual professionalism.”</p>

I can't tell you my precise worth, but I do know when I'm being undervalued.” Zeenat Aman called out brands who are not ready to give her due even now She then went on to detail one of her “unpleasant” brand experiences and said, “Amidst the barrage of collaboration and appearance requests that materialise in my inbox each day, there are some that stand out for unpleasant reasons. Last minute invitations that the organiser forgot to edit (and which are addressed to another celebrity who must have declined) are mildly insulting. Impolite emails with minimal details and brusque ‘share commercials' are infuriating. And shady proposals to post stories or comments without the paid partnership tag are distasteful.” Taking a dig at brands that offer “ludicrously low fees,” Zeenat Aman said, “Yet none of these compare to the impudence of multimillion-dollar brands that expect my endorsement in exchange for ‘brand association' and a ludicrously low fee.” On how she is not fairly treated, she added, “Such luxury brands pay an eye-watering penny to their ambassadors (one of whom beautifully reprised a role I originally played), and sell even their most basic item for multiple lakhs of rupees.” Zeenat Aman also mentioned that she is worth more than the price of a “designer handbag” or “high-heel shoe.” She added, “I am over 70 years old, and I have held my own in this industry for over half a century. Zeenat has spoken up about her eye issue, and her recent surgery to correct her drooping eyelid. The actor took to Instagram to pen down a lengthy note on how the 40-year-old injury had begun to impact her vision until she finally convinced herself to have treatment for it.

<p>In her latest post on Instagram, veteran Bollywood actress and social media star Zeenat Aman&nbsp;revealed that she has undergone eye surgery recently. The actress has opened up about her eye condition — ptosis — and that she had to undergo surgery to fix her drooping eyelid.&nbsp;<br />

The actor penned a long note about how the 40-year-old injury had started to affect her vision until one day, she convinced herself to get treatment for it. She also thanked her industry colleagues who agreed to work with her despite the eye injury that changed her appearance a bit.<br />

Zeenat Aman shared a heartwarming picture of her son Zahaan kissing her forehead before taking her to the operation theatre. The actress also revealed that she underwent the surgery just a day after she shot for the cover of a leading international magazine.&nbsp;<br />
<br />
"I woke up early in the morning, packed a small suitcase, and kissed Lily on her muzzle. Then Zahaan and Cara drove me to Hinduja Hospital in Khar,” she wrote.<br />

<strong>Zeenat on her eye injury</strong><br />
<br />
Opening up about her eye condition, she wrote, “There has been an elephant in the room with me for the past 40 years. It is time to show this elephant the door. I have a condition know as ptosis - the result of an injury I suffered many decades ago that damaged the muscles around my right eye. Over the years, it caused my eyelid to droop further and further. And a few years ago it became so acute that it began to obstruct my vision. When so much of one’s career is predicated on one’s appearance, coming to terms with a dramatic change to it is difficult. I know for a fact that this ptosis narrowed my opportunities and made me the subject of unwanted attention. But despite the gossip, the comments, and the questions, I never felt diminished by it. It helped of course that there were always a few stalwarts that stood by me and chose to work with me still.”<br />
<br />
The actress also said that the treatments available to her at the time of injury and even much later were unsuccessful. She finally met an ophthalmologist in April this year who informed her about surgery to lift the eyelid.<br />
<br />
“I dithered for a long time, then underwent a battery of tests and finally committed to the procedure. That morning in the hospital I was terrified. My extremities turned icy and involuntarily shivers racked my body. Zahaan kissed my forehead, reassured me and wheeled me to the OT, where I surrendered to the hands of my medical team. I emerged from there an hour later - alive, well and looking like a pirate with an eye patch. Recovery has been slow, steady and is ongoing. But I’m happy to share that my vision is so much clearer now," she wrote and thanked the hospital staff&nbsp;and her family for the support.<br />
<br />
Fans and colleagues from the Indian film industry wished Zeenat a speedy recovery. Actor Abhay Deol, who will now be seen along with her and Shabana Azmi in <em>Bun Tikki</em>, commented on her post, “You’re an inspiration to so many of us. Can’t wait to start working with you!” Shweta Bachchan also wrote, “God speed.” Tillotama Shome wished her a “speedy recovery”.&nbsp;</p>

The actor penned a long note about how the 40-year-old injury had started to affect her vision until one day, she convinced herself to get treatment for it. She also thanked her industry colleagues who agreed to work with her despite the eye injury that changed her appearance a bit. Zeenat Aman shared a heartwarming picture of her son Zahaan kissing her forehead before taking her to the operation theatre. The actress also revealed that she underwent the surgery just a day after she shot for the cover of a leading international magazine. "I woke up early in the morning, packed a small suitcase, and kissed Lily on her muzzle. Then Zahaan and Cara drove me to Hinduja Hospital in Khar,” she wrote. Zeenat on her eye injury Opening up about her eye condition, she wrote, “There has been an elephant in the room with me for the past 40 years. It is time to show this elephant the door. I have a condition know as ptosis - the result of an injury I suffered many decades ago that damaged the muscles around my right eye. Over the years, it caused my eyelid to droop further and further. And a few years ago it became so acute that it began to obstruct my vision. When so much of one’s career is predicated on one’s appearance, coming to terms with a dramatic change to it is difficult. I know for a fact that this ptosis narrowed my opportunities and made me the subject of unwanted attention. But despite the gossip, the comments, and the questions, I never felt diminished by it. It helped of course that there were always a few stalwarts that stood by me and chose to work with me still.” The actress also said that the treatments available to her at the time of injury and even much later were unsuccessful. She finally met an ophthalmologist in April this year who informed her about surgery to lift the eyelid. “I dithered for a long time, then underwent a battery of tests and finally committed to the procedure. That morning in the hospital I was terrified. My extremities turned icy and involuntarily shivers racked my body. Zahaan kissed my forehead, reassured me and wheeled me to the OT, where I surrendered to the hands of my medical team. I emerged from there an hour later - alive, well and looking like a pirate with an eye patch. Recovery has been slow, steady and is ongoing. But I’m happy to share that my vision is so much clearer now," she wrote and thanked the hospital staff and her family for the support. Fans and colleagues from the Indian film industry wished Zeenat a speedy recovery. <p>Sharing a photo of herself from the sets of the movie, Aman wrote, "This picture was taken by photographer J P Singhal during a look test for <em>Satyam Shivam Sundaram</em> around 1977. We shot the series at R K Studios, and my costumes were designed by Oscar winner Bhanu Athaiya."</p>

Later, on the basis of this test, we shot a small reel picturised on Lata ji’s famous song ‘Jaago Mohan Pyare’ from the 1956 film <em>Jagte Raho</em>. Rajji held a screening of the reel at R K Studios to gauge the response of his distributors to me in this role. After that first screening, the rights for all territories were immediately sold."</p>

Zeenat Aman responds to Satyam Shivam Sundaram controversy: 'Nothing obscene about human body'

<p>Bollywood yesteryear actress Zeenat Aman is now on Instagram. She might be just a day-old on the photo-sharing app and doesn’t have a verification tick yet but her first post is already a hit. The 71-year-old actress shared a picture of herself as a young woman with her mother Vardhini. The picture is not very clear but you can still see that beauty runs in the family.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Zeenat Aman captioned the photo as, "If I have lived an extraordinary life it's because I was brought up by an extraordinary woman. My mother Vardhini Scharwachter was what you'd call a 'pataka' (firework). Elegant, intelligent, feisty and my pillar of support. She was a practicing Hindu and she epitomised the ideas of tolerance, love and empowerment. Her faith did not stop her from marrying my father Amanullah Khan.”<br />

“Later, after they had separated, she fell in love with and married a wonderful German man, whom I called Uncle Heinz. She taught me to stand on my own two feet and to live life on my own terms. She was truly the wind beneath my wings. I lost most of my family photographs in the Mumbai floods of 2005, and so the few that I can find are all the more precious to me,” the caption continued.&nbsp;</p>

'Panipat': Arjun Kapoor introduces Zeenat Aman as Sakina Begum

<p>Veteran actor Zeenat Aman has joined the cast of filmmaker Ashutosh Gowariker's period drama 'Panipat', the makers announced Monday.<br />

Aman, who has stayed away from the arc lights for a while now, will have a special appearance in the film where she will essay the feisty character of Sakina Begum.&nbsp;<br />
<br />
Sakina led the province of Hoshiyarganj and lived within the confines of her kingdom, away from the politics of the region. She played an important part in the battle of Panipat when the Peshwas turned to her for help, a statement from the makers read.&nbsp;<br />
<br />
"It is an absolute honour and a fan moment to be directing Zeenat ji. There are many, many of her films that I have loved and especially her work in them. What is most fascinating about her is her humility despite all the stardom," Gowariker said.&nbsp;<br />
<br />
Interestingly, Gowariker worked with Aman as an actor in Anant Balani's 1989 mystery film 'Gawaahi'.&nbsp;The 67-year-old actor will begin shooting by the end of this week.&nbsp;<br />
<br />
The film, which features Arjun Kapoor, Kriti Sanon and Sanjay Dutt, is produced by Sunita Gowariker under their home banner AGPPL in association with Rohit Shelatkar's Vision World.&nbsp;<br />
