Since Xi was elected to a record-breaking third term as General Secretary of the Chinese Communist Party at its 20th party conference this month, Trong's was the first visit by a foreign head of state.

"The development of the cause of human progress is a long and tortuous process, and the development of socialist countries faces a very complicated international environment and serious risks and challenges," Xi said, according to CCTV.

Trong's visit was a demonstration of Communist cohesion. Trong is more powerful than either the president or prime minister of Vietnam.&nbsp;

Along with Cuba, Laos, and North Korea, Vietnam and China are among the world's final five communist-run nations.

The visit announcement comes days after Xi secured a third term for himself as the party general secretary after the end of the 20th Communist Party of China (CPC) Congress.&nbsp;

The visit was confirmed by Pakistan's foreign ministry which released a statement and said it was Premier&nbsp;Li Keqiang that extended the invitation. Foreign Minister&nbsp;Bilawal Bhutto Zardari will also be travelling with Sharif.&nbsp;

The visit comes in the backdrop of China and Pakistan agreeing&nbsp;to start three new corridors in November, in addition to the multiple billion dollars China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), to strengthen bilateral ties, according to multiple reports.

It is expected that a formal launch will be announced during the trip.&nbsp;

"The visit is also expected to advance the wide-ranging bilateral cooperation agenda with the conclusion of a number of MoUs/Agreements in diverse areas, and consolidate the momentum of CPEC cooperation in the wake of the 11th meeting of the CPEC Joint Cooperation Committee (JCC) on 27th October 2022," read the statement further.&nbsp;

As reported by WION,&nbsp;the CPEC is a multi-billion dollar development project, with a planned network of roads, railways and energy projects linking China's Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region with Pakistan's strategic Gwadar Port on the Arabian Sea.

On Friday, the situation worsened when an index of Chinese shares traded in the Hong Kong stock market dipped to the lowest level since 2008, making it one of the worst-performing stock gauges for the year. This week’s losses have reportedly shocked local as well as global investors.&nbsp;

This comes after the twice-a-decade meeting during which Xi placed allies in several top-most positions in the country and sought to increase state control on markets and the economy leaving little space for the opposition.&nbsp;

Furthermore, this week the Hang Seng China Enterprises Index saw a loss of over&nbsp;8%&nbsp;after investors pulled a record of $2.5 billion from mainland stocks on Monday alone. While the HSCEI gauge sank 7.3% in its biggest plunge since the global financial crisis of 2008 on the same day.&nbsp;

The report suggests that following Monday’s rout the markets had more or less stabilised but Friday’s dip served as a reminder of the risks of dip buying when it comes to Chinese shares. Notably, the rapid selloffs come ahead of China’s appointments of key party and cabinet members which is expected to take place in the upcoming weeks.&nbsp;

This is also as the government has imposed fresh lockdowns in Wuhan in line with Beijing’s zero-Covid policy while Xi has also reiterated his calls for China’s economic self-reliance. Christina Woon, the investment director for Asia equities in Singapore told Bloomberg it is, “Hard to say how the selloff plays out, but again, a sustained recovery in investor confidence is still dependent on developments like changes to China’s zero COVID policy.”

Xinhua news agency later tweeted that Hu was escorted as he was feeling unwell, but it did not report that domestically.

At this moment, Xi, who was monitoring the whole situation, gestured to another man standing there, who then tried to persuade Hu to leave and at one point attempts to physically lift him up from his chair.

The former president then leaves his chair with some help from the party aide, and while on his way out, he is seen trying to speak with the Chinese president.

Apart from retaining his position in the CMC, Zhang has also found a seat in the Central Committee, which is regarded as the country's top leadership body. All the announcements were made after the end of the 20th CPC Congress. However, what suggests that China is gearing up for an offensive is that Xi broke the unofficial retirement age rule while selecting Zhang. The unwritten retirement age in China is 68 which Xi has used as a baseline throughout most of his tenure. However, Zhang is 72 and comfortably crossed the mark. Zhang may be old but he compensates for it in a way not many in the Chinese military can do. He is a veteran of the 1979 Sino-Vietnamese war and one of the few People's Liberation Army (PLA) generals to have combat experience. According to reports, Xi is willing to utilise Zhang's expertise to the fullest when he takes on US and Taiwan. Zhang knows the ins and out's of CMC which is China's military command, responsible for the services of over two million active personnel in the PLA. The appointment also comes in the backdrop of speeches made by Xi at the Congress. On multiple occasions, he evoked the Taiwan issue and threatened the western countries from interfering in its internal problem. The CCP leader added that China reserves the option of “taking all measures necessary” against separatist forces. “We will continue to strive for peaceful reunification with the greatest sincerity and the utmost effort. But, we will never promise to renounce the use of force. And we reserve the option of taking all measures necessary.” While Zhang gets the extended run, other Chinese bureaucratic officials have not been as lucky. The other major change that came out of the national congress was the appointment of Li Qiang as the new Premier of China. His predecessor – Li Keqiang – decided to retire at the end of 2023.

Xi, however, rewarded the loyalty of Li by making him the governor of&nbsp;Zhejiang and later, the party secretary of&nbsp;Jiangsu province. The move was aimed at granting Li the regional experience of managing the party so that when the time came for taking on bigger duties for Xi, he was prepared.&nbsp;

In the same year, Xi gave another promotion to Li and brought him to Shanghai and made him the party chief pf the region.&nbsp;

Xi's trust in Li can be gauged from the fact that despite having a rather muddled policy regarding Covid in Shanghai, Li managed to receive the nod.&nbsp;
