“President Yoon said he hopes that China would play a more active, constructive role as its neighbour and a member of the UN Security Council.” The remark was made after he noted that North Korea has “recently escalated nuclear and missile threats by launching provocations with an unprecedented frequency.”&nbsp;

In response, Xi reportedly also spoke about China and South Korea’s common interest in the Korean Peninsula and that both nations must safeguard peace. The Chinese president also told Yoon that he hopes Seoul will try to improve its relations with Pyongyang and that he is willing to support South Korea’s bid for a denuclearisation offer if North Korea was to accept it.&nbsp;

Meanwhile, Yoon’s office also said that the South Korean president proposed holding regular high-level talks and discussing issues like the Covid-19 pandemic, the global economy and climate change.&nbsp;

The statement said that Xi had agreed on the need to boost bilateral dialogue and build political trust and said that he would visit South Korea after the Covid-19 situation in China stabilises. The in-person meeting on the sidelines of the G20 between the two leaders lasted nearly 25 minutes and was the first one since December 2019.&nbsp;

Tensions have been simmering after US House Speaker Nancy Pelosi's August trip to Taiwan, the self-governed democratic island which Beijing claims as its territory. The visit jeopardised Sino-US relations as in response, China staged massive military exercises. &nbsp;

After Pelosi, several other US diplomats also visited the island, flaring up tensions between China and US. China even claimed that, in case needed, it will use force to unite the two territories.&nbsp;

Beijing has maintained that its approach to Taiwan has not changed. The recent actions show and some analysts also believe that Bejing might engage in a full-scale conflict with Taiwan. At its recently concluded congress, the Communist Party for the first time enshrined its opposition to Taiwanese independence in its constitution.&nbsp;

As per an AFP report, during his meeting with the Chinese President Biden will urge him&nbsp;to restrain North Korea's "worst tendencies" and warn the leader that Pyongyang's arms build-up will prompt an "enhanced" US military presence in Asia.&nbsp;

Talking to reporters, on Saturday National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan said that in a Monday meeting with Xi on the sidelines of the G20 summit, Biden will tell him that his country has "an interest in playing a constructive role in restraining North Korea's worst tendencies".

Reportedly, a woman was recently caught on camera travelling in a subway train in China's&nbsp;Hubei province for her rather offbeat dress code. The woman sitting on the seat wrapped herself in a big plastic bag before eating a banana she had brought with her.

According to local media reports, the antics of the woman caught the eye of a fellow passenger, surnamed Wang. He recorded the video out of amusement to see what the lady was up to.&nbsp;

“While it is not ideal to eat inside subway trains. She isolated herself from other people by wrapping herself in a plastic bag,” he added.

Notably, eating on subway trains is prohibited in China. However, the woman used a clever loophole to find her way and dodge the country's stringent Covid rules

During a one-day visit to Beijing, Scholz said that the UN charter and "principles such as sovereignty and territorial integrity," which he claimed Russia was breaking in Ukraine, had been agreed to by Russia, China, and the West.&nbsp;

At a press conference, the German leader also urged Russian President Vladimir Putin to maintain a pact permitting grain exports from Ukraine via the Black Sea.

"Hunger must not be used as a weapon," Scholz said.

Following international pressure, Russia agreed to resume the deal it had suspended unilaterally, enabling a safe passage, following which grain supplies from Ukraine resumed on Thursday.&nbsp;

Moscow, however, stated that a decision on whether to prolong the grain pact past November 19 — the renewal date specified in the initial agreement negotiated by the UN and Turkey to avert a worldwide food emergency — has&nbsp;not yet been made.&nbsp;

The construction of the economic corridor is extremely important for Pakistan as it will enable the two countries to move forward with a number of pending projects. Their conversation ranged on broad-based economic cooperation and investment, besides exchanging views on regional and global developments.

Shehbaz and Xi also discussed the need to further promote the 'all-weather strategic cooperation partnership' between the two nations.

CPEC is the flagship project of China's Belt and Road Initiative (BRI)—a pet project of Xi—which is a collection of infrastructure projects that are under construction throughout Pakistan beginning in 2013.
