Buttler’s England has been in fine form recently where they beat New Zealand 3-1 in the ODI series and will have momentum on their side. Buttler could become the second captain to win the ODI World Cup and T20 World Cup after India’s MS Dhoni, with the Indian star completing the set in 2011.

A little more than a year after banning transgender women from competing in elite female swimming events, the World Aquatics, earlier this week, cancelled its first 'open races' for transgenders after no one registered for the event. The World Cup meeting was scheduled to take place in Berlin but the organisers were forced to scrap the event after receiving no entries.&nbsp;

"Following the close of registration for the open category competitions, World Aquatics can confirm that no entries have been received for the Open Category events," World Aquatics said in a statement.

The open category was set to feature 50-metre and 100-metre races across all strokes as part of a "pioneering pilot project'. It was last year that the&nbsp;governing body of the sport decided to introduce a new category for athletes whose gender identity is different from their birth sex, after banning transgender participation.&nbsp;

Despite receiving no entries, the global body is aiming to persist with the endeavour and will include the category at masters events in future.&nbsp;

'The World Aquatics open category working group will continue its work and engagement with the aquatics community on open category events. Even if there is no current demand at the elite level, the working group is planning to look at the possibility of including open category races at masters events in the future.'

British Olympic swimmer Sharron Davies - a vocal critic of transgender women competing in women's sport - took to social media and trashed the transgender females for not turning up to face their competition.&nbsp;

"If trans women aren't going to get the physical benefit of racing females instead of others males, they're not interested!" said Davies.&nbsp;

In June 2022, World Aquatics' (formerly known as FINA), voted to allow only those who had completed their transition by the age of 12 to take part in women's competitions. The decision was prompted after reviewing the success of American Lia Thomas, who despite being a moderate college swimmer as a male competitor, managed to win an NCAA national college title in the women's category after transitioning.&nbsp;

A section of the sporting world believes that it is unfair to biological females when transgender females compete against them. Despite the transition, the transgenders possess visible physical advantages over their female counterparts which leads to an uneven playing field. The 'Open' event was aimed at providing a solution but it may have thrown more questions than before, experts say.&nbsp;

ICC World Cup 2023 Tickets online: Just a week is left for the World Cup 2023 to begin. The event will commence on October 05 and the first match will be played between England and New Zealand at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.&nbsp;The stadium has a capacity to host 132,000 people at once. The cricket tournament will be played by 10 different teams. All the matches will be hosted in India, from Chennai to Delhi. A total of 48 matches will be played, however, the main attraction of the tournament remains the India vs Pakistan clash.

The ICC announced ticket sales for the 13th edition of the World Cup began on August 25.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) this year has teamed up with "Book My Show."&nbsp;To book tickets fans must register&nbsp;on the World Cup website. Ticket sales were carried out in a phase-wise manner until September 15.&nbsp;

Shubman has been in exceptional form in 2023, especially in the ODI format. He has so far scored 1,230 runs in 20 innings along with as many as five centuries. "On reflection, the good times have, overwhelmingly, outweighed the struggles, and I wouldn’t change my journey," he added. "It was a privilege to end my career being part of the 2023 Scotland Rugby World Cup squad and, for now, my rugby story is over. It's time to start the next one."

Talking about the penultimate ODI, Shreyas Iyer's 105 and Shubman Gill's 104 propelled India to a mammoth 399 for 5 in 50 overs; their highest score versus the Aussies in the 50-over format.

Stand-in captain Rahul (52) and Suryakumar Yadav (37-ball 72*) also made significant contributions before Australia's target was revised to 317 in 33 overs, thanks to a rain break.

The visitors never got going and only managed 217 in 28.2 overs to lose by 99 runs. R Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja accounted for three scalps each whereas Prasidh Krishna also claimed two wickets at the beginning of Australia's run-chase.&nbsp;

With this win, India are set to enter the forthcoming CWC 2023 edition as the No. 1 ranked side. The last two editions have been won by the No. 1 ranked team whereas the last three titles have been clinched&nbsp;by the home team (India in 2011, Australia in 2015, England in 2019).

Hence, Rohit &amp; Co. are strong contenders for the upcoming ICC event on home soil. It was all going horribly wrong for Italy as they trailed Uruguay by 10 points at the break in their&nbsp;Rugby&nbsp;World Cup Pool A encounter on Wednesday but a halftime reckoning got them back on track before they powered to a 38-17 victory. A penalty try and yellow cards for Niccolo Cannone and Danilo Fischetti left Italy chasing the game and the interval brought about a change in their approach.

"We got back into the changing room and we said we screwed it up and we handled it, just embraced the challenge," captain Michele Lamaro said. "I think we stepped back into the field with confidence, you know, stick together every single moment, win the little battles to win the final war."

Coach Kieran Crowley was disappointed with Italy's poor discipline but praised his defence for holding out. "You can't afford two players off the field. One of them was just ill-discipline, the second one you could argue but the referee made the decision so no problem," Crowley said. "But you know, we’ve got to be better than that because you're going to give away points.

"It was a hell of an effort from them because we only gave away seven points with 13 players so you know that defence was pretty good."

"I think we've got 10 points, if you asked me before to have 10 points after two games I would have taken it," Lamaro said. "It's unbelievable the energy this group has, the way we are together, the way we live together. It's something unbelievable."

Lamaro, who scored the first try after the break to begin the comeback, also had plenty of praise for Italy's opponents. "I told all the Uruguayan guys they can be proud of their performance, they put us under a lot of pressure but in these moments, what counts the most is how strong is the team and in the second half we showed that and smashed everything we could. "This is a real group, we're a family. It was a really tough game."

Italy now have time to recover before they take on New Zealand on Sept. 29. For now, the Azzurri and their 25-year-old captain will enjoy what they have already achieved. "It's unbelievable. I am young but without all these players, I couldn't do anything. I'm really proud of the boys and I'll share this moment for the rest of my life with them."

The confirmation came on Wednesday, September 20 with three cities - Dallas, Florida, and New York set to stage the carnival of the shortest version of cricket in 2024. The T20 World Cup will be the first time the USA hosts a major ICC event, having previously served as home ground for West Indies during several bilateral series in the past.

<h2>USA to stage T20 World Cup</h2>

“We’re delighted to announce the three USA venues that will host part of the biggest ICC Men’s T20 World Cup ever staged, with 20 teams competing for the trophy. The USA is a strategically important market and these venues give us an excellent opportunity to make a statement in the world’s biggest sport market,” ICC Chief Executive Geoff Allardice said in a statement.

USA and West Indies were selected as co-hosts for the global tournament back in November 2021, when the ICC Board awarded them the hosting rights. The venues were chosen following an extensive evaluation of several options.

Modular stadium solutions will be applied to increase facilities for the upcoming event. An agreement has been reached for the construction of a 34,000-seat modular stadium in Eisenhower Park, a purpose-built sports and events park in Nassau County, New York, on awarding of the required permit next month.

<h2>England to enter as defending champions</h2>

This will be the second time West Indies will host the marquee tournament having last seen action of the T20 World Cup in 2010. England were crowned champions for the first time in 2010 when they beat Australia in the final. The win also saw them win their maiden T20 World Cup title under the leadership of Paul Collingwood. Interestingly, England are the defending champions of the T20 World Cup having won the title in 2022 in Australia.

Several other potential venues have been identified for pre-event matches and training. These include George Mason University in Washington, which is the home for Major League Cricket (MLC) team Washington Freedom.

With the ODI World Cup to kick off early next month in India, on October 05, Pakistan are under pressure. Captain Babar Azam has also drawn a lot of criticism for falling short in terms of tactics in crunch situations in the Asia Cup. However, he has found the backing of stalwarts such as Javed Miandad and Misbah-ul-Haq.&nbsp;

<h2>'Our team is not as bad as it played in the Asia Cup'</h2>

Speaking to the media at a match of the 40's Global Cricket Event, both Miandad and Misbah have urged the country's cricket authorities to not panic ahead of the CWC 2023 edition.&nbsp;"Why blame Babar Azam only when the rest of the team didn't perform as well in the Asia Cup matches against India and Sri Lanka," Miandad said.

"Look our team is not as bad as it played in the Asia Cup. It has plenty of potential to do well in the World Cup. The only thing is how quickly our players cope and adjust to playing in Indian conditions before big crowds and in a country where they will encounter some hostility. The sooner this suspense about the final squad is ended the better it is for us in the mega-event," Miandad further asserted.

Meanwhile, former Pakistan captain and coach Misbah pointed out that Pakistan would only do well if everyone in the squad contributes collectively and isn't dependent on a select few (namely captain Babar, Shaheen Shah Afridi and keeper-batter Mohammed Rizwan). In this regard, he opined, "Don't just expect Babar to perform every time. This is not possible. This team has been successful as a collective unit and they must remember that even in India."

Misbah mentioned that now is not the time to raise questions on Babar, who had been entrusted with the role long back. "Now is not the time to talk about his captaincy. He is someone who can be relied upon in the World Cup as a captain and batsman," he stated.&nbsp;

In addition, the 2015 ODI World Cup skipper opened up on the speculations and discussions regarding a divide in the locker room, as well as rumours about a player leaking inside information. He feels all this will&nbsp;only harm the team's cause.

"I have worked with these players as captain, coach and chief selector and I back them to do well in the World Cup," Misbah added.

Pakistan will kick off their CWC 2023 campaign on October 06 when they play the Netherlands in Hyderabad. The marquee tournament commences a day before with defending champions England taking on New Zealand in Ahmedabad.&nbsp;
