<p>ANI has learnt through top sources of the board that Saba Karim, the General Manager of Cricket Operations, has been asked by the Supreme Court-appointed Committee of Administrators (COA) to give new names for the Cricket Advisory Committee (CAC).</p>

<p>The new CAC will be monitored by the COA and will appoint the new head coach of the Indian team.</p>

<p>"This CAC will have three members and they will also see that there is no conflict of interest. Whether this CAC team can be appointed or not is also a major concern as the CAC can only be formed in Annual General Meeting (AGM), but we will see what will happen," a senior BCCI official told ANI.</p>

<p>Ganguly made his ODI debut in 1992 and scored 3 runs in his first game against West Indies.</p>

<p>He led the Indian Test side that defeated Australia in 2001 and defied the odds to lift the Natwest Trophy in 2002. Under his captaincy, the Men in Blue became the runners-up of the 2003 World Cup, where the team faced defeat at the hands of Australia.</p>

<p>Ganguly retired from all formats of cricket in 2008, scoring a fearsome knock of 85 runs in his final Test match against Australia.</p>

<p>In his illustrious cricket career, Laxman earned many accolades and his performance was outstanding against best teams of his time.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The former middle-order great made his Test debut in the year 1996 against South Africa and in his 16-year long Test career, he has an aggregate of 8781 runs in a total of 225 innings.&nbsp;</p>

<p>He made his One-Day debut in 1998 against Zimbabwe and in his illustrious ODI career, Laxman scored 2338 runs in 83 innings.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The convoy, comprising 70 buses in which around 2500 personnel were travelling, was targeted in Ladoora area on the new Expressway, CRPF Director General RP Bhatnagar told ANI.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The bus was extensively damaged in the blast which was followed by firing on the vehicle, he said.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The cause of the blast is being ascertained, Bhatnagar added. "We suffered damage to the vehicle and men," said a senior CRPF official.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Inspector General of Police (Kashmir) SP Pani told reporters that it was a terror incident and an investigation is being conducted to ascertain the nature of the explosion.&nbsp;</p>

<p>India's captain Virat Kohli has "already left a legacy" with his batting, in all the three formats of cricket, said former India Test great VVS Laxman and added that Indian players are far more experienced and talented than the Australian team as Virat's side is currently on a tour Down Under.</p>

<p>The T20 series ended in a draw and the Test series got underway on December 6, in which India will look to create history as they have never won a Test series on Australia soil.</p>

<p>Laxman, who his remembered for his several match-winning and match-saving innings, in an interview to WION's sports editor Digvijay Singh Deo shared his thoughts on Virat's leadership and team's performance.</p>

<p>"He [Virat] has become a role model. I think this is a great opportunity for Virat Kohli the captain to leave a legacy behind. Because he has got a very formidable team playing against an unsettled Australian team and if you compare player to player, I think Indian players are far more experienced and talented than the Australian team," Laxman said.</p>

<p>The former middle-order great also praised Virat's fitness, saying, "He is very disciplined about his fitness, about his diet."&nbsp;</p>

<p>Virat Kohli sticks to a high-protein diet, minus any junk food and practice weight training to gain lean muscle mass and maintain low body fat levels.</p>

<p>One can see the intensity with which Kohli prepares, and how meaningful those practice sessions are, and because of that he goes out and consistently delivers for the team, he said.</p>

<p>On being asked about the team's comparison with the former teams, Laxman replied that he doesn't like comparisons. He said, "I don't like to compare teams and players from different generations."</p>

<p>"I have always been of this opinion because the challenges, the opportunities, the conditions, the situations were totally different. I think it is not right or fair to compare teams from different generations," he said.</p>

<p>Laxman has an aggregate of 8781 runs in his Test career playing a total of 225 innings. His performance against Australia is worth mentioning as he scored 2434 runs in 29 matches with a strike rate of 54.33, including six centuries and 12 half-centuries.</p>

<p>Laxman also expressed his views on Virat's resemblance with former captain Sourav Ganguly. He said that Virat is "very positive".</p>

<p>"If you talk about his first Test as captain, there were two choices - play for a draw or go out and play positively, with an aggressive approach and look for a win.&nbsp;</p>

<p>"He chose to play with an aggressive approach," appreciated Laxman.</p>

<p>"The team didn't win that match but that made a statement - that was a very very bold statement that 'I'm the captain, I want team India to play in this fashion'.&nbsp;</p>

<p>For the first Test of the Australian tour in December 2014, Dhoni was not part of the Indian team at Adelaide due to an injury, and Kohli took the reins as Test captain for the first time.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Kohli scored 115 in India's first innings, becoming the fourth Indian to score a hundred on Test captaincy debut.</p>

<p>In the second innings, India needed 364, Kohli came in to bat when the Indian innings was reduced to 57/2.</p>

<p>He put on 185 runs for the third wicket with Murali Vijay, however, India was bowled out for 315 with Kohli's 141 off 175 balls being the top score.</p>

<p>Laxman said, "I think it all boils down to what the leader is showcasing. I think he is very aggressive, but the important thing is that the aggression is not artificial."</p>

<p>As Virat Kohli and company is gearing up for the all-important tour to England for the Test series post IPL, Kohli is a relieved man for the time being. After all he was able to salvage some pride in recent Test series in South Africa.</p>

<p>Last month, when India lost the second Test match at the Centurion against South Africa, Kohli must have told himself &#39;come what may, the series scoreline will not be 3-0&#39;. After all, the last Test of the series was slated at Johannesburg, the place which has that special bonhomie with Team India for many years. The record remained intact; India not only avoided a defeat but won the Test.</p>

<p>India has never lost a Test here, not even in 1992-93 and 1996-97 when otherwise there was complete decimation. At this ground, Rahul Dravid scored an epic 148 in 1996-97. But above all it&#39;s here in 2007 that India won inaugural T-20 World Cup and MS Dhoni embarked upon a journey to superstardom.</p>

<p>But this is not new, in cricket special relationships between teams/players and grounds have been around since ages, albeit most of the time they are inexplicable.</p>

<p>Have a look at few of such unique relationships.</p>

<p>During Sunil Gavaskar&#39;s debut series in 1971-72, India played two Test matches at Port of Spain. In four innings, Gavaskar scored one double century, one century and two half-centuries. Five years later at the same venue, India played two Test matches and Gavaskar scored two more centuries. So whenever there used to a Test at Port of Spain, bowlers of West Indies knew that little master would come with something special.</p>

<p>But even more interesting is the camaraderie between Mohd Azharuddin and Eden Gardens, Kolkata. Azhar made his debut at Kolkata in 1984-75 and scored a century on debut and his special performance at Kolkata continued after that as well. Overall, Azhar played seven Test matches at this ground and scored five centuries. Eden Gardens played a role of saviour for him. In 1993, when Azhar was under heavy scrutiny, both for his batting and captaincy, he scored a massive run-a-ball 182 in opening Test of the series with England. India won the Test as well. In 1996, Azhar scored a Test century here against South Africa in just 74 balls. The crowd went berserk when Azhar struck five boundaries in a single over of Lance Klusener.</p>

<p>Little do we realise that Dilip Vengsarkar has a unique record under his belt. He was first non-English batsman to score three Test centuries at the iconic Lord&#39;s. During his first three Test matches at the &#39;Mecca of Cricket&#39;, Vengsarkar scored centuries in each of them. He played his fourth and last Test at this venue in 1990 and scored a half-century.</p>

<p>VVS Laxman&#39;s love affair with Sydney Cricket Ground started in 1999-2000 when he played a magnum knock of 167 in a series where Indian batsmen simply capitulated against Australian pace attack. He scored centuries on his next two Test outings at this ground in 2004 and 2008.</p>

<p>Like Johannesburg, Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG) in Australia has been very special for Team India. At SCG, India scored a mammoth 600 for 4 during 1985-86 and Australia somehow saved the innings defeat on last day. India was so dominating that after first day&#39;s play, India&#39;s score was 334 for 1 and first three batsmen scored centuries. In 1991-92 India lost five Test series in Australia by 4-0. The only Test they could save was the one played at Sydney. Ravi Shastri scored a double century and Sachin Tendulkar scored a century. At SCG only in 2003-04, India scored 700 plus, riding on a double century by Tendulkar and century by Laxman. It was last Test match of legendary Steve Waugh and India almost defeated Australia in this Test.</p>

<p>I wrap up this discussion with something very interesting. Some relationships thrive spontaneously and some don&#39;t click even after someone vies for them desperately.</p>

<p>Sunil Gavaskar&#39;s wife belongs to Kanpur. Gavaskar always wanted to score a Test century at Kanpur in front of his in-laws. Ironically he failed in his first eight Test outings there. It was in his ninth Test at Kanpur in 1986-87 during fag end of this career, Gavaskar could score a century there. He was a relieved man.</p>

<p>These tales of typical relationships are beyond explanation but they are immensely interesting. As interesting and alluring as the game of cricket itself is.</p>

Azhar made his debut at Kolkata in 1984-75 and scored a century on debut and his special performance at Kolkata continued after that as well. Overall, Azhar played seven Test matches at this ground and scored five centuries. Eden Gardens played a role of saviour for him. In 1993, when Azhar was under heavy scrutiny, both for his batting and captaincy, he scored a massive run-a-ball 182 in opening Test of the series with England. India won the Test as well. In 1996, Azhar scored a Test century here against South Africa in just 74 balls. The crowd went berserk when Azhar struck five boundaries in a single over of Lance Klusener. Little do we realise that Dilip Vengsarkar has a unique record under his belt. He was first non-English batsman to score three Test centuries at the iconic Lord's. During his first three Test matches at the 'Mecca of Cricket', Vengsarkar scored centuries in each of them. He played his fourth and last Test at this venue in 1990 and scored a half-century. VVS Laxman's love affair with Sydney Cricket Ground started in 1999-2000 when he played a magnum knock of 167 in a series where Indian batsmen simply capitulated against Australian pace attack. He scored centuries on his next two Test outings at this ground in 2004 and 2008. Like Johannesburg, Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG) in Australia has been very special for Team India. At SCG, India scored a mammoth 600 for 4 during 1985-86 and Australia somehow saved the innings defeat on last day. India was so dominating that after first day's play, India's score was 334 for 1 and first three batsmen scored centuries. In 1991-92 India lost five Test series in Australia by 4-0. The only Test they could save was the one played at Sydney. Ravi Shastri scored a double century and Sachin Tendulkar scored a century. At SCG only in 2003-04, India scored 700 plus, riding on a double century by Tendulkar and century by Laxman. It was last Test match of legendary Steve Waugh and India almost defeated Australia in this Test. I wrap up this discussion with something very interesting. Some relationships thrive spontaneously and some don't click even after someone vies for them desperately. Sunil Gavaskar's wife belongs to Kanpur. Gavaskar always wanted to score a Test century at Kanpur in front of his in-laws. Ironically he failed in his first eight Test outings there. It was in his ninth Test at Kanpur in 1986-87 during fag end of this career, Gavaskar could score a century there. He was a relieved man. These tales of typical relationships are beyond explanation but they are immensely interesting. As interesting and alluring as the game of cricket itself is.
