<p>"Sheila Dikshit was managed well by a team of doctors. At 3:15 pm she again suffered a cardiac arrest. She was put on ventilator and at 3:55 pm she passed away peacefully," Dr Ashok Seth, Director of Escorts Fortis, New Delhi told media.</p>

<p>Former Indian batsman Sehwag tweeted, "Sad to hear about the passing away of #SheilaDixit ji."</p>

<p>"Heartfelt condolences to her family and loved ones," added Sehwag,&nbsp;who hails from Delhi.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Rayudu made a decision to step away from cricket earlier today.</p>

<p>He had been team's number four batsman since the Asia Cup last year. He had scored one century and four half-centuries since then.</p>

<p>Rayudu even scored 113-ball 90 in New Zealand earlier this year paving the way for India's victory.</p>

<p>But he fell off the wagon of late as he was not able to replicate his good performances in the ODI series against Australia.</p>

<p>The batsman played 55 ODIs for India, scoring 1694 runs at an average of 47.06.</p>

<p>Former India pacer Amit Bhandari, who is chairman of the DDCA senior selection committee, was on Monday assaulted by a group of unidentified men, led by a disgruntled Under-23 player, during the Delhi senior team's practice game at the St Stephen's ground.</p>

<p>The senior team is gearing up for Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy (National Twenty20 tournament), starting February 21.</p>

<p>Anuj Dedha, who was not selected in the state team, attacked Bhandari, who sustained head and ear injuries and was taken to Sant Paramanand Hospital at Civil Lines by his colleague Sukhvinder Singh.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The goons along with the player in question fled before the cops could reach the spot but was later arrested.</p>

<p>"At around 1.15 pm today at St Stephen ground where trials were going on, one person Anuj Dedha, who was not selected, came and asked about his rejection and slapped Bhandari. Some 10-15 more boys came and hit him," Nupur Prasad, Deputy Commissioner of Police (north) said.</p>

<p>"Based on the complaint, a case has been registered and the accused and his brother Naresh were arrested," the DCP said.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Dedha's name featured in the initial 79-member list, released by the DDCA in November for the U-23 trials. As per the probables list accessed by PTI, his date of birth is November 22, 1995.</p>

<p>Delhi &amp; Districts Cricket Association (DDCA) president Rajat Sharma told PTI that guilty will not be spared.</p>

<p>"I have personally spoken to the Delhi Police Commissioner Amulya Patnaik. The guilty will not go unpunished. We will register an FIR," Sharma said.</p>

<p>Sharma, who went to meet Bhandari at the hospital said, "He is very shaken and it is natural. The doctors have advised that he should be kept under observation for 24 hours as a precautionary measure."</p>

<p>"The goons were pressurising him to select a player, who had failed to get into the U-23 team on merit. Bhandari claimed that the one man also threatened him with a revolver. This is shameful that an honest selector was being prevented from performing his duties. I have been told that one person has been detained for questioning," Sharma, who is also a well-known journalist, informed.</p>

<p>"I was having my meal along with a colleague inside the tent and Bhandari along with other selectors and senior team coach Mithun Manhas was watching the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy probables play a trial game.</p>

<p>"A couple of men first came and went up to Bhandari. There was a heated exchange between Bhandari and the two men. They left and before we could gather our thoughts, suddenly some 15 men armed with hockey sticks, rods and cycle chains came charging," Saini said.</p>

<p>"When the other senior team players attending the trials along with us rushed to save Bhandari, they started threatening us and one of them said, "Don't get into this or else we will shoot you."&nbsp;</p>

<p>"They attacked Bhandari with hockey sticks and rods as he tried to run away and he sustained head injury," the former Delhi seamer added.</p>

<p>According to an eye witness, Dedha and his accomplices chased Bhandari in front of the senior team players as the former India pacer ran for his life.&nbsp;</p>

<p>When asked who could be behind the attack, Saini said, "I was not there when these two guys came and spoke with Bhandari. He is obviously rattled and once he gives his statement to the police, we will get to know more."</p>

<p>People from cricket fraternity took to their Twitter handles to wish the swashbuckling batsman, but it is Virender Sehwag's signature style wish that once again won hearts.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Kohli's birthday falls on the occasion of Dhanteras, the first day that marks the festival of Diwali in India. And Sehwag, known for his witty sense of humour, turned Dhanteras into 'runteras'.</p>

<p>"On this Dhanteras, wish you a year that is again filled with Runteras," wrote Sehwag.</p>

<p>He has been on a run churning spree of late and has lately notched his 38th century in ODI century.&nbsp;</p>

<p>In the series against the Windies, he racked up 10,000 runs in One Day International cricket, surpassing the legendary Sachin Tendulkar.&nbsp;</p>

Punjab’s team failed to chase a modest target of 158 against the Rajasthan team which resulted in Preity losing her cool and reportedly questioning Sehwag on ‘tactics’ used during the game.&nbsp;</p>

<p>As reported by a leading daily, Preity approached Sehwag even before the players had retired to the change rooms after the match. A source revealed: “Against Rajasthan Royals, skipper Ravichandran Ashwin was sent in at number three, ahead of more accomplished batsmen such as Karun Nair and Manoj Tiwari. The move backfired as Ashwin fell for a duck, and Preity launched into Sehwag for the decision.”</p>

<p>According to the source, Sehwag played it calm initially but lost his cool when things escalated. Source revealed: “However, when Preity continued to blame him, saying ‘unnecessary’ tinkering with the playing XI had led to a spate of defeats, Sehwag tried to reason with her.”</p>

<p>As per the report, few people connected to the franchise played down the incident and called it a “routine post-match conversation between the owner and the team mentor” but did confirm that Preity was “upset” with the result.</p>

<p>On the issue, co-owner Mohit Burman said he was not present at the venue. “But as far as I know, there is no problem. I have spoken to Viru and Preity,” he said.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Former Indian Cricket team player Virender Sehwag revealed that he was the one who informed Sourav Ganguly about former coach Greg Chappell's infamous email to BCCI during India's tour of Zimbabwe in 2005.</p>

<p>"I used to take rest while fielding. I need a break of minimum five overs. I always told the umpire that I had a bad stomach and used to leave the field. So Greg was writing his email and I was sitting next to him, " Sehwag said.</p>

<p>"I saw he was writing something to the BCCI and I went and told Dada about it. I told him he is writing something to the BCCI and it's something serious," Sehwag added.&nbsp</p>

<p>Chappell was appointed as the head coach of the Indian cricket team in May 2005.&nbsp</p>

<p>His tenure is counted as one of the darkest phases in Indian cricket.</p>

<p>As per media reports, Sehwag said that it was during a match in Zimbabwe when he had an upset stomach and he took a break. &nbspIt was then he was Chappell writing the email to Board outside the washroom.</p>

<p>&nbsp"It was near the washroom when I told Chappell about my upset stomach I saw him writing the email addressed to the BCCI. I did not get to see the content but I could reckon it was a very serious matter and informed Ganguly immediately," Sehwag added. &nbsp</p>

<p>Having seen Virender Sehwag as a middle-order batsman or the see-ball-hit-ball opener or as a mentor, it was a surreal experience to watch the swashbuckling opener sit down calmly beside a table and sipping in his favorite drink - chai - all suited and booted. In fact he was so happy putting on his suit that he opted out of putting on the jersey of his IPL team Punjab. He is not the king of Najafgarh for nothing.</p>

<p>Sehwag was his usual chirpy self-cracking jokes and pulling legs of the newly-appointed skipper Ravichandran Ashwin. As I got comfortable around Sehwag and began with my first question, "You went all out at the Indian Premier League auctions. Do you think you have the best team to get you that elusive title?" Apt came his reply. "Of course. We spent the money to get the right squad. We have an able skipper in Ash (Ravi Ashwin) and have bolstered our Indian pool of players by picking up some really good lads at the auctions."</p>

<p>True, the Punjab side always flaunted international players like David Miller, Glenn Maxwell, George Bailey, Mithcell Johnson but somehow missed out on Indian talents. Axar Patel was the lone player retained by the franchise co-owned by Priety Zinta. But this time around the franchise has put in money to get some true Indian talent. He is aggressive top the order and can control the innings too. So it's good to have a character like him on our side," the mentor quipped.</p>

<p>The auctions, however, did spring a surprise or two. And one of them was the curious case of Chris Henry Gayle going unsold. "Well, to be honest, I was surprised that Gayle went unsold. And when he came back into the auction pool in the second round we were more than happy to snap him at his base price," the surprised 39-year-old said.</p>
