So it was not an April Fool's joke! Twitter is serious about working on the long-awaited "edit" feature. The social media giant on Tuesday (April 5) announced that it will soon start experimenting with an edit button. The company also stated that initially, the so-called experimenting will be only on its monthly subscription service at first.

On April 1, Twitter had tweeted a message on its official account, saying it was working on the long-awaited "edit" feature. But people thought it was a joke. The company had then said, "We cannot confirm or deny but we may edit our statement later."

On Twitter, users can't edit the posts. In case of mistakes, they either re-tweet the correction or delete the post and tweet it again. The inability to tweak tweets after firing them off has been a key complaint among Twitter users.

The New York Times has drawn the ire of Twitter users, especially in the Indian Twitter space for its coverage and characterisation of the general strike. National trade unions in India have called for a two-day general strike beginning on Monday (March 28). On the same day, NYT published a story with the headline 'General strike throws India into confusion'. The strike called by trade unions in India is focussed on their two demands 1. Rolling back proposed changes to the labour law 2. Slowing down privatisation Although the strike had been called on a national level, there were no reports of any widespread disruption in the daily lives of citizens barring in a few pockets of the country. × In the southern Indian state of Kerala and the eastern Indian state of West Bengal, there were partial shutdowns. However, even there, essential services were not affected. In most other parts of the country, cars were moving freely on the roads, trains were plying as usual and government offices were functioning as usual. There were no reports of mass rallies from these regions, there was no violence and certainly no 'confusion' as the NYT chose to put it. As Russia continues to make advances in Ukraine, a crackdown on media outlets and individuals, who fail to toe the Kremlin line on the invasion has intensified. Facebook and Twitter have been blocked on Friday. And a new law has come up that criminalises the intentional spreading of what Moscow deems to be 'fake' reports. Not just this, blocks have already been imposed on the BBC, German broadcaster Deutsche Welle, the US government-funded Voice of America and Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty and Latvia-based website Meduza. Roskomnadzor, state communications watchdog, said that it has cut access to Twitter and Facebook in line with a decision by the prosecutor general's office. The bill was quickly approved by both houses of the Kremlin-controlled parliament and signed by Putin. It imposes prison sentences of up to 15 years for people spreading information that goes against the Russian government's narrative on the invasion. CNN said that it would stop broadcasting in Russia, while Bloomberg and the BBC have said that they would temporarily suspend the work of their journalists in the country. Vyacheslav Volodin, the speaker of the lower house of parliament, said the measure "will force those, who lied and made statements discrediting our armed forces to bear very grave punishment.” "I want everyone to understand, and for society to understand, that we are doing this to protect our soldiers and officers, and to protect the truth," Volodin added.
On Day 2 of the IPL 2022 mega auction, Jofra Archer went to the five-time winners Rohit Sharma-led Mumbai Indians (MI) on Sunday evening (February 13). On Day 2 of the IPL 2022 mega auction, Jofra Archer went to the five-time winners Rohit Sharma-led Mumbai Indians (MI) on Sunday evening (February 13). With the MI team management not bidding for a lot of players from resigning Ishan Kishan for a whopping price, at INR 157.5 million on Saturday (February 12), many eyebrows were raised. While the MI fans were surprised with the team's strategy, the former champions went for England pacer Archer, who had represented Rajasthan Royals (RR) since his debut season in 2018. For the unversed, Archer is highly unlikely to be available for the forthcoming IPL 2022 edition, in India, however, the MI Paltan have invested in him keeping the future seasons in mind. With Archer's name attracting several players, despite injury concerns, franchises such as RR and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) also joined the bidding war before Rohit & Co. had the last laugh by signing the wily pacer for INR 80 million (INR 8 crore). It's hard not to admire Twitter's ability to turn almost any circumstance into a meme. Twitteratis are often the first to launch the most strange yet entertaining meme fests. The "without saying your age" meme is the most recent to join the trend. The one-liner meme attempts to describe the nostalgia felt by children born in the 1980s and 1990s. People are contributing the names of products, periodicals, comics, and technological terminology that were popular during that time period. Here are a few tweets related to it: #AllAbout90sLife #90s Without saying your age, say something a young person today wouldn't understand. @coolfunnytshirt https://t.co/CKefLiVDre pic.twitter.com/cQeqzeWRxn — All About 90s Life (@AllAbout90sLife) January 26, 2022 × "Bhai please ek achha sa testimonial likh dena please..." pic.twitter.com/DKEyfC1ypi — THE SKIN DOCTOR (@theskindoctor13) January 26, 2022 × Without saying your age, say something a young person today wouldn't understand. pic.twitter.com/lTynDotBwn — Sayantan Ghosh (@sayantansunnyg) January 26, 2022 × "asl pls" pic.twitter.com/GFZbtJl1BX — Pratik Prasenjit | ପ୍ରତୀକ ପ୍ରସନ୍ନଜିତ (@pratikprasenjit) January 27, 2022 × #phantom sweet cigarettes, Kismi bar, #Parle Poppins, Mango Bite, Coffee Bite, Melody, Nutties, Cassettes and Tape-fixing, #Yashica camera, @suyashparashar @Manoj_Pandey aur kuch yaad hai ? pic.twitter.com/BKb9fj8y2O — Nikhil Pandey Sankrityayan (@Nikhil_Pandey04) January 27, 2022 × Without saying your age, post the first media format you bought a game on pic.twitter.com/kCo9YWMnkK — GamesYouLoved 🕹👾📺 (@gamesyouloved) December 3, 2021 × Without saying your age, post pictures of pop culture from the decade you were born.
